Tacoma's game was rained out. In August. In Arizona.

San Antonio fell to Midland, 3-1. Jon Huber lasted seven strong innings in picking up what's become a rare quality start, but the two-run double he allowed in the bottom of the third held up all game long as the Missions offense couldn't come up with much of anything. Gary Harris drove in Nate Espy with a single in the fourth, but San Antonio wouldn't get a runner past first base in the last five innings. Harris was the only member of the lineup to get two hits. Inland Empire dropped one to Lake Elsinore, 9-6. It felt like a reasonable game until the bottom of the fourth, when everything went to Hell and the 66ers came away trailing 8-0. Even a valiant comeback effort led by two-run hits by Matt Rogelstad and Sebastien Boucher fell short, as a four-run sixth still left IE behind by three. Mumba Rivera lasted just 3.1 out of the gate and Aaron Trolia wasn't much better, but on the bright side, Bryan Lahair recorded three base knocks, while three other 66ers had two-hit days. Notables:

Everett won a good one over Salem-Keizer, 8-6. This one had everything - a little quality pitching, a big inning at the plate, and some dramatic late-inning heroics to send everyone home happy. Paul Fagan tossed eight strong innings while the Aquasox stormed to a five-run fifth (keyed by a Reed Eastley grand slam), but Stephen Kahn choked it away in the ninth, allowing a two-out two-run single that tied the game for the Volcanoes. Try as he might to make it worse, Kahn served up a Joseph Dyche double, but Casey Craig and Robert Hudson worked an efficient relay to catch a baserunner at home to send it into the bottom of the ninth. And, with two down and a man on, Alex Gary flipped out, hitting a walkoff home run (#4 on the year) that made 3,485 fans extremely pleased. Luis Valbuena also hit a home run earlier in the game, which is pretty cool, since nobody in the system seems to do that very often. Notables:
