I'm trying to get back into the habit of writing huge daily recaps, I really am, but it's a difficult routine to re-establish, so it'll take a little time. Be patient. Until then, Lightning Rounds!

Jose Lopez
I NEVER expected him to do what he's done so far. He's on track to put together a damn good season for a 22 year old (I love reminding myself of that) second baseman. I credit him with keeping me intrested beyond just the morbid fascination of watching this team find new and "agressive" ways to tank.Jose Lopez....this Bud's for you....But don't drink it lest your tastebuds revolt.

Also, Jose Lopez tied for 4th in the AL in RBI
with 45.That's just not among 2B either, that's among ALL PLAYERS.

Just realised
That the last time Moyer threw a two-hitter was less than 24 hours after I was born.Graham MacAree - June 3, 2006
Hargrove
If anyone was at the game last night, I was the one yelling "THIS TEAM IS TERRIBLE!!" every few minutes. The funniest part was when Hargrove came out of the dugout in the top of the 8th after Jamie had given up his 2nd hit (that's right...2nd hit) and was on pitch 80 for the night. I thought I had finally slipped into a bad managing decision coma once and for all. Hargrove's post-game comment about his trip to the mound were the kind you hear from a manager who just doesn't know what he's doing. He says:
"Sometimes it's a difficult thing to manage with your head and your heart. My heart wanted to leave him in the game, but my head said I needed to go out and look into his eyes and make sure he was ok."
The reality is the M's will probably sweep or win 3 of 4, so Hargrove isn't getting fired anytime soon. But he should. He just isn't a good manager. My friend and I were actually waiting for Moyer to punch Hargrove or start screaming for him to get off the mound. Now THAT would have been classic.

Just for shits and giggles
I know it doesn't do any good to do this, but: Hargrove's boy (Everett): .255/.335/.404 Jacque Jones: .290/.326/.519Phil Hatzenbuehler - June 3, 2006

Other potential
left-hand sock:Frank Thomas .231/.353/.500
Erubiel Durazo (nothing)
Roberto Petagine (bench)
Nomar Garciaparra!!!
OPS vs. LHP 1.300
OPS vs. RHP .984
The thing is that Everett isn't the problem with the mariners. Sexson, Beltre, and Reed are the things holding the mariners back. Those three (mostly first two) have really underperformed what we expected. On a side note, Sexson was robbed once again of Safeco with a HR that was probably a ft short.
Edgar for Pres - June 3, 2006
But look at Jones' contract
It's worse than CFE'sMariner John - June 3, 2006
He's higher paid than CFE
because he's a much better player. I wouldn't call it "worse."Rollo Tomasi - June 3, 2006
Yeah
The idea was that, not only was Jones a decent slugger, but he played good defense in LF. Carl couldn't field a ball if it were stationary.Gomez - June 3, 2006
Jones's OBP
Is depressingly low for a starting corner outfielder, especially one getting ... is it $15 million over his next three years?Graham MacAree - June 3, 2006
I'd much rather have Jones
with his contract than Everett with his.Rollo Tomasi - June 3, 2006
I wouldn't
just because it would block SnellingScruffy Lefty - June 3, 2006
Jones really doesn't have a place on this team
Sure it'd be nice to have him but I'd rather have Frank Thomas or Nomar as my DH than Ibanez.Edgar for Pres - June 3, 2006
I would rather have...
Pretty much any average corner outfielder making league minimum than either of them.Graham MacAree - June 3, 2006
Moyer should'a punched Hargrove
when he came to the mound, but at least the 28k+ fans (more than just the hard core) booed him when he did it. He heard it, and so did Moyer, and Bavasi, and Lincoln...Kind of the equivalent of clapping loudly between the 3rd and 4th movements of a symphony (a good one at least).
He didn't have the grain of an idea of what was happening.
