I'm hung over
This is probably my Saturday night whether I want it to be or not.

But at least I get college football during the day.

Im at work
I win
Oh sweet Richie's back.
I was getting worried there for a minute.
Worried that the Mariners would play a decent 1B?
Which team that I like do I want to see...
Get blown out?  ND or the Mariners?  I'm gonna go ND.
So, if the UW game isn't over by first pitch
I'm probably not switching over.
BIG RICHIE!
Big Richie is back, we still believe.

There's still a chance, until he watches strike three.

....Big Richieeeeee.....BIG RICHIIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I won't be able to see the whole game
So I'll miss the Mariners losing 8-2.
Good day for the Pac-10 so far
If the Mariners can win with a Weaver no-hitter the northwest will dominate sportscenter!!!
I bet JJ's not feeling too good today
Michigan just fell to 0-2 with a blowout loss to Oregon.
One batter and the umps are screwing us...
already. nice.
tough choice
Mariner game... Nascar Race....

and the umpiring is at it again.

Safe.
Fuck everybody.
this week
is making me think more and more about instant replay for baseball... ugggh.
On the other hand
at least this call doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
I seriously think
Ichiro's on the verge of flipping out.

Brilliant call ump
If it were opposite day.
Somebody tell the umps
that the M's are finished and they can stop screwing them already.
The umps need a cockpunch.
Man on 2nd with 2 outs?
More like men on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Am I right, ump?
Jose Guillen, team leader
look at how far all that leadership got us.
Inge errors?
WTF?
haw haw Inge
No gold glove for you.
Brandon Inge makes mistakes?
So that should've scored two runs.
Oh Goodie
Richie's up with men on base.
Well, the zone seems small for Robertson
I'll take any silver linings I can find.
Don't swing, Richie.
Don't come back next season either.
3 walks in an inning?
Wow
Nate Robertson can't find the strike zone.
Well he can't DP here.
Even our run-scoring innings piss me off.
Dave Niehaus
I'm not sure if he couldn't see that play or if he was just being hopelessly optimistic.
Neihaus
"That could be trouble...that's gonna drop in for a base hit"

(Carlos Guillen jogs over and catches the ball)

I think the Mariners
are trying to take it upon themselves to prove that "clutch" doesn't really exsist.
So
are there still people out there who want Jeff Weaver re-signed?
Jeff Weaver?
We were gonna re-sign him?
I had him pegged as leaving for somewhere else after this year no matter what.
I can't believe Yuni even came close to that
Granderson just hates Seattle
because Mariner blogs get more hits than his blogs.
Polanco in the minors: .279/.314/.344
What the...
Ichiro is still awesome.
Wow, I'm surprised Ichiro is still trying
#1 web-fucking-gem
At least Ichiro's still trying.
He should've gunned that ball in towards an umpire.
Ahahahahaha this game goes off now
Haha yea, Guillen
This season is over.
hahahahahaha
oh dear god, I'm watching little league baseball.
Damn, Ichiro
made a damn fine catch
Jose Guillen: team leader
Aaaaaaaaaand fuck this shit
Grand Salami time.
IBB'ing in the first inning.
John McLaren is desperate.
Really earning that extension...
My agreement with that fading quickly, as if it were already low enough...
fresno st and and texas am going
to double overtime
I see gameday
took away their 'strike zone'. I wonder if there's been an increase in ump hatemail since the implementation of GD advance...
You know
"Who's your Tiger?" is a retarded slogan.
I'm not sure why Detroit is so excited
this is an easy sweep for them.
Tigers want the Yankees
Mariners just want to go home.
Whoooooooo
Jorge Campillo warming up!
Timo frickin' Perez?
Go away, Weaver. Just go away.
Timo Perez was once an everyday player.
Those Mets teams were horrible.
Warming up: a fat Hispanic
you've got company, Vidro.
Sean Casey grand slam
that would be the whipped cream on this elephant manure sundae.
End of the inning
No wait....thanks Guillen!
GO AWAY OLD/BAD WEAVER!!!
Gotta hand it to Weaver
He's like the only one on our team who's learned anything in his wars.
Nate Robertson
Perfect Game over.
Shutout over.

No-hitter still on....

I think Ichiro was out on that.
Guillen
Still pretty good.
go julieanne
make up for that error
According to WPA
that single almost made up for Guillen's error.
Wishin' he was in Florida?
Poor 'Ol Dave sounds completely disinterested
Thought about the Penn State game
Is there anything in college football more tacky than playing top 40 music on the loudspeakers between plays instead of letting the bands play?  I thought Penn State was a power conference school.
really small zone today.
Apparently that wasn't a strike.
When I think grace
I think Raul Ibanez.
Yeah... Grace Jones
King Awesome
He's still awesome.
Worst 0-2 pitch I've seen in weeks.
That was destroyed.
I <3 BELTRE!!!
I saw Wlad in the dugout
so at least we know he's still alive.
Swung On & Beltre'd....
Nice one Adrian...

BTW, Isn't Comerica quiet for a full-house? Listening to Detroit-ians, you'd think the place was a madhouse all thge time..

They take after their announcers.
AB always has this expression on his face
where it's like he's trying to figure out how to build his kid's bicycle from scratch with German instructions.
So
why was FSN Detroit so interested in Fresno State/A&M?
3 OTs
who ended up winning?
A&M held on
Close call for them.
But they were giving score updates
before it even went to OT.
I think they said that they'd been broadcasting
that game first then switched to the Tigers at 7 or something
Oh, that makes sense.
Red Wings promo
hockey is almost here yesssssssssssss
I dont <3 Hockey
At this point
I would gladly take some ice action.
Jeez, he looks pissed
I pity the fool that gives Ichiro a reason to snap....
You know
eventually, as long as we keep up the organizational philosophy of developing ultra-aggressive toolsy hitters, we'll end up with a Vlad of our own.

Here's to you, Triunfel.

And maybe Mario Martinez can copycat
And then we can have two!
"He's hungry.
He's a hungry ballplayer."

Trust me, color guy, that's not all a guy needs.

Heh.
"(Timo) has been awfully consistent in September."

It's September 8th.

Its timo perez.
Come on.
Sean Casey = "The Mayor"
I think "The Angry Drunk" would be more appropriate.
timos been consistent this game
2 sings, 2 rbi's
Man
did you see how far Raul backed away when Ichiro called for that ball? I don't think Ichiro gave the standard "I GOT IT" there.
Lol
Yunibomber!
What the........TWO homeruns?!
You're allowed to hit TWO in one game?!
Aah yes....
... a good 'ol-fashioned bullpen battle
And with that
I'm out for now.  Good to leave on a non-negative note.
Well that's annoying.
I have a new least favorite Tiger.
Feel free to remember how bad you suck, Timo.
Timo Perez
quickly becoming my most hated Detroit Tiger.
Curtis Granderson is stupidfast
the rare poorly played fly to ichiro.
Why not just rename the park
Granderson Triplefest Stadium?
"The ball is up tonight for Jeff."
Real perceptive, Blowers.
Look, we can keep dicking around
or we can go to the bullpen and give somebody else a shot to stop the bleeding. What are you trying to prove?
but we don't have anyone available in the BP
. . . oh, wait.
Granderson has 22 triples.
That's one away from the post-1940 all-time record.
That's like a 1910 total
Ridiculous.
King Awesome still awesome
Beltre flipping out again.
He hits the ball harder than any Mariner I've seen in a long long time.
Ibanez: 0-3
Thanks Mac, I didn't want a clean-up hitter capable of hitting lefties anyway.
Miner warming up for the fourth time.
Matsuzaka:
ERA: 4.44
FIP: 4.36
Detroit has sophisticated hecklers
their taunts include:
  1. saying the name of the player
  2. saying it louder
That's a playoff environment right there.
You know, except the 342 at bats Richie
hasnt got a hit, I think hes had a pretty productive season.
If not for those extra 92 outs
he'd have a league-average BA.
Richie Sexson strikeout
knew this game was missing something.
I like facing lefties
except for when our cleanup spot comes up.
Zach Miner coming in
What? New pitcher?! That's not fair, it takes us at least 5 innings to adapt to that!
In the stands...
Mariners Fan #1: "Why'd We Move To This Hole?"
Mariners Fan #2: "I wanted to swap my apt. in Queen Anne for 7 Duplex's & Cash"
Beltre has an away OPS of .887
And an Awesomeness Index of 132598713641
You must have rounded down
Yuni sees more than 2 pitches for the first
time in a LONG time
A pitcher has to pull an ankiel to run a 3-0
count on the m's.
Scoring more than one run an inning?
that would be blasphemy
Miner, by the way, = poor man's Sean Green
oh god Weaver is still in
it must be Mariner policy to not remove a pitcher before they let 2 baserunners reach.
and he gets 3 easy outs
Whatever, I'm still right. I'm always right.
A few years ago
that would've shattered Guillen's leg bone.
Rod Allen is like a sober, competent Hendu
So not like Hendu at all then?
If you take away the drunken incompetance...
When Timo Perez hits fly outs
the outfielders should dive to catch everything just to show his sorry ass up.
Jeff, do you think a package of richie and wlad
could get us matt cain? I've just been brainstorming to see who we could get for those two since its pretty likely their both will be traded.
I'm not Jeff, but no
SAFE!!!
...oh... out... whaa?
I swear
every single fucking series I have to hear a new team of broadcasters talk about how Ichiro could hit 25 homers a year if he wanted to. Apparently he doesn't want to. Give it a God damn rest.
Yeah i didnt thnik so but I figured the giants
were desperate for power.
Haha
Umpires hate us
Hey I think that call was actually correct.
I don't
But I didn't see it in slow motion
The throw just barely beat him
I'm now convinced
that someone has played off every umpire in the league to fuck us squaw in the ass.
That's twice.
But remember, when it happened to AJ, it was nerves.
They called that a hit.
Well *that* was a hit.
So Weaver's out of gas...
I like how McLaren consistently pulls pitchers
5 pitches late.
Why is weaver still in?
Alex Rodriguez is the only player in history
to hit 50 HR as both a SS and a 3B.

Simply astounding.

He's getting a huge raise.

I could have made that clearer.
He holds the record @ both pos.
Remember the Pittsburgh game
where Weaver had such a hopeful, relieved expression on his face?

This is the opposite of that.

Someone's gonna pimpslap Jose Guillen.
Starcraft II looks sick
Me wantie.
As does Korea
Episode 2 and Portal> Any other game this fall.
So whos our manager next year?
A. Joe Giradi
B. Dusty Baker
C. Ken Macha
D. Bill Krueger lol
This bespectacled douchebag
Dear god please not Dusty
I think he prefers his cushy job working for ESPN anyway.
They'll bring back
Bill Plummer
Hahahahaha
Best wild pitch ever.
Two-base wild pitch.
This is the worst nosedive ever.
Like they needed a wild pitch...
they got a double anyway
"And he will tell you
he doesn't like to hit the ball to right field."

What?

Sit down. You are an angry man.
Magglio runs with his mouth open like an idiot
uuuuuuuugh
I don't think I find this funny anymore.
Granderson and Magglio
#'s one and two in the AL in terms of having an OPS that doesn't match their balls in play.
wow try throwing a strike
you enormous, flaming douche.
Ramon Santiago in the game
I think Leyland is trying to stick it to us.
Detroit has ugly women.
FSN Detroit displays them all.
Ramon Santiago to Short
Guillen to first

That's M's baseball

Comerica aided triples of London!
ok the only thing that is different then last year
is that we can actually beat the a's.
Nice route, Magglio
This part is a triples factory.
Part, park, whatever. I'm barely here.
Vidro would get at lest 15
if he could play every game here.
Even Ibanez can get a triple here
Fantastic dimensions.
Okay, so that was kind of cool
I wasn't too sure Ibanez was going to beat that out.
Comerica's 3B factor: 203
There are twice as many triples hit here than in the average park.
Well there's our 1 run for the inning
We still have 2 more innings to go YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Nice swing, Richie.
It's really great to have you back.
Every time
the opposing manager makes a "coaching visit to the mound" they get an out.  Every time our manager makes a  "coaching visit to the mound" the other team winds up getting 3 runs.
Excuse me
we got a productive out. HUGE difference.

(I'm being sarcastic)

Blue Jays winning 4-1
If they win and we lose, we are 1.5 games ahead of them.

...

Great, our season is now reduced to being the 6th or 7th best team in the AL!

Even though it was only a fly out
That's crazy that he still hit the ball like 380 feet when he practically fell into the swing.
Sexson's back
and hasn/t that 0-3 day helped us out a great deal?
Stupid Ramontiago.
He can really pick it up and throw it.
Maybe we should trade for him
Do we have a talented shortstop who likes to party we can trade for- oh, wait.
All right Jose...
way to step up
and, I might add
on a first pitch swing...there's a surprise
HYPHEN!
"The Pudgemeister"?
That is the worst nickname in the history of nicknames.
Hey, it's the bottom of the 7th again.
And we get the "mound visit."

I'm thinking they get.... 4 runs this inning.

What's the general over-under?

Is Raffy looking for the bourbon in the first aid?
I would be after the last few weeks.
Hey Sean Green
would you be a dear and go back to striking batters out? That would be delightful.
Er
S. Green relieved J. Weaver
C. Granderson struck out looking
P. Polanco singled to left
P. Polanco to third on wild pitch
G. Sheffield struck out looking
Yeah, I figured he might do that since I missed
that inning. He hasn't been striking out as many batters after the ASB compared to before ASB though.
He doesn't really have K-per-IP ability
He was over his head in the first half.
C'mon Timo
Fuck this up and I'll love you forever.
what the fuck is a curtis granderson
IBB'ing Inge actually = smart.
Good on you, four eyes.
On second thought, I agree.
That was a strike.
Yup
WTF is this, "Umps hose the Mariners" week?
Of course it was
but the way things are going, did you actually think we'd get the call?
HEY SMITH
Let's walk the whole lineup...
oh oh
the dreaded "coaching visit to the mound"
Should be "Coaching Visit to HP umpire"
Time to switch the Cards-DBacks.
I'm getting pretty fucking sick of this.
That was the most obvious strike I've ever seen.
Not only does our team suck when it tanks, it gets no breaks as well.
Oh, good. Sean White.
The younger, still sucky version of Rick White.
Fuck you, umpires.
/throws towel
I fucking hate you Johnny Mac.
Now it's time for
Ironically Gloveless Adrian Beltre.
McLaren throwing in towel, Sean White sucks
so on and so forth game over
Granderson was out.
Instead, it's 11-6.

If every single umpire in baseball dropped dead tonight, I wouldn't shed a tear.

LMAO
Baseball could not be more predictable.
And With that pitching change...
Well that is just par for the course, isnt it?
We strike a guy out, it gets called a walk, and the next guy up doubles in 3 runs
Polanco doubles, Sheffield makes out.
Black players are easier to control.
But umpires clearly fear black players.
Granderson's "walk" is evidence.
God I hate this....I just got off work and come
home to RRS' blown call and Mac being the worst manager in the world.  I hate that I'm going to miss baseball season soon....
After this
it's going to take a lot longer for me to miss baseball than it did last year or the year before.
But we'll have the offseason!
When we can see Bavasi trade Wlad and Lopez for Lenny DiNardo!

Aw, crap...

On the other hand
I'm pretty happy the Huskies won, Michigan lost again, and the Badgers are playing UNLV....
"STOP IT, BRANDON!"
Save it for the bedroom, dickface.
Welcome to the void, Jorge.
He throws slower than Steve Trachsel works
No way this guy could be better than Horacio
Right?
Not a chance.
aaaaaaanddd
He gives up a gopherball just so we know for sure.
That was sarcastic, by the way.
Horacio blows. Campillo blows too, but he blows less.
Jorge assimilated quickly
Awesome
that's the 546767th triple of the game.
The collective has absorbed him
yeah
just what was needed another kick to the groin
Baker points out
history in the making

Also, Tigers CONTINUE to rub our noses in it. First Ramontiago, now Bazardo.

Hey, Bazardo.
Mariners 12, Mariners 6.
PS:
I hate the Bazardos.
On a somewhat positive note
although in the long run it won't matter at all, Tampa Bay scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th to beat Toronto, 5-4.

When was the last time we scored 4 runs in an inning?

Probably in that game we lost against LA.
Fourteen games.
Thirteen losses.
This inning drips with irony
I hope tomorrow's game is over
by the time the Seahawks game starts..not that I want to see another 8-2 baseball game.
Ahhh...A slide of epic proportions
Its almost like the 20 game over .500 Mariners collectively slept with Britney Spears, forgot to tie a 2x4 to their asses and were swallowed whole.
I feel like Sharon Tate
Managers get canned for this sort of shit.
So seriously,
what's the chance, Mac gets fired at the end of this season due to this horrific collapse? 80, 90%?
0%
We will hear happy talk from Lincoln about how the organization made progress when we finish 83-79, and there will be contract extensions and lollipops for everyone.

</unreasonable pessimism>

I really don't think we're finishing above .500.
If we do you're situation will be accurate though.
The M's...
... would have to go 7-15 the rest of the way to finish 81-81.

It's a possibility based on play so far in September, I suppose, but that would mean a season-finishing stretch of 8-28.

You might also consider the caliber of the opposition the next 10 games (after this series) is considerably worse than what we faced during this collapse (no teams below .500): Oakland home/away (terrible offense) and Tampa Bay at home (unbelievably bad defense, worse than ours, even). I don't think they will faceplant those games. They might even go 6-4, 7-3 and give some false hope.

I think we are looking at something like 83 (if they really suck the rest of the way) to 87 (if they perk up some) wins... which is at the higher end of my predictions, but about where I saw them- improved, but flawed.

Is it bad that
I've already posted a 2008 plan?
