I mean they’ve got 29 combined from Manny and Bay, and 29 with Youkilis, and 23 with Ortiz, 19 with Drew, 17 with Pedroia, and 17 with Lowell. They’re obviously a small ball/run manufacturing team
I just hate the hype surrounding most of these quarterbacks.
No credit ever goes to the offensive line or the wide receivers who do the hard work. Then these quarterbacks get drafted and suck ass in the NFL. They are all just a product of the team around them.
I think it’s a bad idea to yank a guy after one when it’s this close, epically a guy like Price who can go multiple innings. They should ride Wheeler as far as they can before they go to Price; saves be damned.
I hate this town so much.
Teej - October 11, 2008
All right, Kaz, let's go.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Go Moyer
Jeff Sullivan - October 11, 2008
This game sucks so far too.
Double06 - October 11, 2008
It's inevitable, isn't it?
Teej - October 11, 2008
I need to root for teams that have more experience and don't choke
Jeff Sullivan - October 11, 2008
At least the Rays are going to be good for years to come.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Speaking of,
It looks like Bay’s lack of experience in postseason and other big games is hindering him in these high-pressure situations, as many predicted.
Teej - October 11, 2008
God that trade pissed me off.
He should be a Ray.
Jeff Sullivan - October 11, 2008

Double06 - October 11, 2008
Holy shit Longoria!
Jeff Sullivan - October 11, 2008
God damn did he ever need that one
Jeff Sullivan - October 11, 2008
Maybe Longo heard the TBS crew ragging on him for "slumping badly in the playoffs."
Teej - October 11, 2008
There are few things harder to watch than a Carl Crawford at-bat.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Go TB!
Patrick517 - October 11, 2008
That inning lasted more than a half-hour.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Rays need to score some more here
This game is absolutely a must win for them.
Robert - October 11, 2008
Dustin Pedroia?
Dewey N - October 11, 2008
That's just embarrassing
Jeff Sullivan - October 11, 2008
I dunno
His size kind of belies the power he has
Dewey N - October 11, 2008
I didn't realize he hit 17 home runs this year
Jeff Sullivan - October 11, 2008
Neither did I
I was just quoting the announcer
Dewey N - October 11, 2008
Did the announcer say "belies"?
Is the announcer Gomez?
Jeff Sullivan - October 11, 2008
I heard it.
Teej - October 11, 2008
I think so

Three disgusting catches in a row!

Jason Bay's Gameday photo disgusts me more than Greg Maddux
Jeff Sullivan - October 11, 2008
Remember when Kazmir used to get ground balls?
That was awesome.
Teej - October 11, 2008

Patrick517 - October 11, 2008
uh
Jeff Sullivan - October 11, 2008
Yeah, that never went away.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Less than 30% this season.
This is bad news.
Teej - October 11, 2008
He's a regular Felix Hernandez
Dewey N - October 11, 2008
Huh Kazmir has been roughly average this season
Dewey N - October 11, 2008
Well at least Felix is still over 50%
Kazmir went from about 42% every year to 29%.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Both lost around 10% though
Dewey N - October 11, 2008
True.

Dewey N - October 11, 2008

I’m watching hockey.
Jeff Sullivan - October 11, 2008

Was it this?

Jeff Sullivan - October 11, 2008
Probably
Dewey N - October 11, 2008

Extremely?
Dewey N - October 11, 2008
ghost rider is crunk?

Jeff Sullivan - October 11, 2008

Teej - October 11, 2008
He saved them up for the playoffs.
Whats the use hitting regular season homeruns? That selfish and unclutch like GAYROD LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
joof - October 11, 2008
I'm going to guess that 9 HR is not Upton's true talent level

seattlebruin - October 11, 2008
I'm pretty sure Kaz is pitching injured, too.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Ha, I just came back to this thread precisely because I was hoping to see somebody mentioning this.
esoteric - October 11, 2008
Judging from comments I take it we're happy with the Rays tonight.
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 11, 2008
Not as happy as we could be.
[all eyes turn to Carl Crawford]
esoteric - October 11, 2008
This I got from the Teej comment.
Really, why bother watching?
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 11, 2008
The Rays have been pretty magical this season.
They could go down by 6 and I’d still be watching just in case.
Teej - October 11, 2008
I meant watching a game as opposed to watching comments.
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 11, 2008
I'm still overwhelmingly pessimistic, but they're winning.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Oh, Carl.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Run out and punch him in the face, Shields!
Teej - October 11, 2008
I can get behind this.
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 11, 2008
Crisp was smart turning himself into a switch hitter.
Not that he is great at switch hitting, just that allows him to get more playing time.
Wilder. - October 11, 2008

kentroyals5 - October 11, 2008
Yay Rays!
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 11, 2008
It's good to see teams manufacturing runs instead of sitting back waiting for the three-run homer

kentroyals5 - October 11, 2008
Now that Manny's gone, the Red Sox don't hit homers anymore.
Teej - October 11, 2008
The Rays are stupid
they can’t even wait to get men on base before hitting a home run
seattlebruin - October 11, 2008
Beckett's throwing BP balls here.

Boss: Can you make 10 double-sided photo copies of this report and assess the future allocations for me?
Me: Sure will.
I then proceed to microwave a box of paper-clips and then use my bosses long-distance calling code to make a death threat to the white house.
That’s about what Balfour did today.

But the indoor fireworks and loud crowds blow Safeco out of the water.
Wilder. - October 11, 2008
Nope
Double06 - October 11, 2008
How can someone listen to Ron Darling talk for 10 consecutive seconds and not want to rip their ears out?
JI - October 11, 2008
He was the Nats TV announcer for all of 2005.
It was painful.
esoteric - October 11, 2008
As I said yesterday, this is the worst collection of commentators I've ever endured.
Ever.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Naturally they are the #1 tbs broadcast team
JI - October 11, 2008
Weeeeee I need to leave more often.
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 11, 2008
It's really only the sixth?
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 11, 2008
For reals
JI - October 11, 2008
I know...
what a game.
Omerta - October 11, 2008
The 5th inning was 52 minutes long.
I’m not joking.
esoteric - October 11, 2008
I wondered how I left in the fifth and was gone for an hour and now it is only the sixth.
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 11, 2008
"Excellent curveball"
:cue awful curveball:
Double06 - October 11, 2008
I have no idea how the Rays get this to the ninth without using the ass of the bullpen
JI - October 11, 2008
Bradford for two...And then, uh, shit.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Bradford against good lefties?...
Might have to pull him in a high leverage situation.
JI - October 11, 2008
We're past that part of the Sox lineup, though.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Lineups turn over
JI - October 11, 2008
Drew on the bench
Three lefties due up shortly
JI - October 11, 2008
You said good lefties.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
When lefties face Bradford they become surprisingly dangerous with runners on.
JI - October 11, 2008
.401 OBP against lifetime
JI - October 11, 2008
And then...Price?
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Perhaps
Which guy is being held out for extras?
JI - October 11, 2008
Edwin Jackson.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Eww
JI - October 11, 2008
I know.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
I liked the ALDS better because Pedroia OPS'd .318. Now he's OPSing over 2 =(
joof - October 11, 2008
It's not that complicated you nit wits
JI - October 11, 2008
Math is hard.

Double06 - October 11, 2008

Double06 - October 11, 2008
God this game is annoying.

Those sorts of activities actually CAUSE enlarged prostate.

Does Jason Bartlett ever put the ball in the air?
Double06 - October 11, 2008
Only when he's throwing to first.
Wilder. - October 11, 2008
Rarely
JI - October 11, 2008
Rays are 0-1 in games where he homers
P Brady - October 11, 2008
He has one homerun on the season, and I'm assuming it was not of the Sojo v Langston variety.
joof - October 11, 2008
23.4% this season.
Though that is a career low.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Lazy
Double06 - October 11, 2008
Lollygagging motherfucker.
esoteric - October 11, 2008
BJ Upton is too lazy to swing
joof - October 11, 2008
My girl was asking earlier why Upton never hustles.
I think it really is just the way he runs. Long legs or something. No matter how fast he’s running, he looks like he’s jogging.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Oklahoma State beats Missouri!!
Ahahahahahahahh!
Heisman my ass!
Wilder. - October 11, 2008
Chase Daniel is just a non-bipoler Matt Grothe.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
I just hate the hype surrounding most of these quarterbacks.
No credit ever goes to the offensive line or the wide receivers who do the hard work. Then these quarterbacks get drafted and suck ass in the NFL. They are all just a product of the team around them.
Wilder. - October 11, 2008
Daniel's pretty awesome, though.
He’s a system quarterback, but he throws a great ball.
Teej - October 11, 2008
He's also 5'10"
Not going to survive in the NFL. But I do agree he throws a strong, crisp ball. Maybe he should look into pitching.
Wilder. - October 11, 2008
Yeah, he's definitely a long shot for the NFL.
Teej - October 11, 2008
There are roughly 30 men on Earth good enough to be an NFL quarterback.
Doesn’t mean some of these college kids aren’t awesome in their current environment.
Teej - October 11, 2008
I would say that number is really around 10.
And it’s not they are bad, it’s just that their teammates get no credit.
Wilder. - October 11, 2008
Linemen, definitely. But receivers usually get more than enough credit.
For example, Daniel’s best receiver is also a Heisman candidate.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Work time.
Please win Rays.
Omerta - October 11, 2008
Not a stirke
and holy god TBS’ pitch trax has no idea where the strike zone is.
JI - October 11, 2008
I'm pretty sure all those things run off the same (bad) technology that Joe's Tracer uses.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Yeah, I just thought of that.
JI - October 11, 2008
But it's in the square.
It has to be right.
Double06 - October 11, 2008
That was one shitting pitch too.
66 MPH change that just kinda floated up there. How in the hell did Varitek not destroy it?
Goose - October 11, 2008
Varitek is terrible
JI - October 11, 2008
I know, but hell I would of put that thing into the gap for a double.
Goose - October 11, 2008
No you wouldn't
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Are you sure?
joof - October 11, 2008
Result speed
59.8 MPH
hahaha
JI - October 11, 2008
It's like that scene in RoY where he just underhands it in the end for a swing and a miss.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
He totally balked after he IBBed Howard Johnson
JI - October 11, 2008
It's the cubs.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
The Cubs are allowed to make blatant multiple balks?
JI - October 11, 2008
Yes.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
You have to stop with the kinds of arguments
JI - October 11, 2008
Jenny Finch for right-handed specialist.
Double06 - October 11, 2008
Jenny Finch would fuck people up.
joof - October 11, 2008
She'd fit right in with Shields and Balfour.
Double06 - October 11, 2008
Damn
There’s little league pitchers that throw harder then that.
joof - October 11, 2008
In fairness
the result speed isn’t the gun reading, the gun reading was 66 or whatever Goose said
JI - October 11, 2008
Gameday also says 66.
Goose - October 11, 2008
Lazily hit to Upton?
Oh the irony.
JI - October 11, 2008
E-1
Well the Bradford almost went 1-2-3 to those lefties…
JI - October 11, 2008
Maybe Crisp could get some more playing time if he stopped doing methamphetamine.
Such a tweaker.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Bradford's gameday photo is frightening
JI - October 11, 2008
Well the Rays were fortunate not to have to change pitchers that inning.
Wheeler for two?
JI - October 11, 2008
Price is ready.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
May God help him in facing the heart of the Sox lineup.
esoteric - October 11, 2008
Pedroia won't be fun.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
No shit.
esoteric - October 11, 2008
If I were a pitcher, I'd aim at Pedroia every time he came up to bat.
joof - October 11, 2008
Price was warming this inning
I suspect Maddon brings him for the 8th.
Talk about baptism by fire.
esoteric - October 11, 2008
When you are running this low on pitchers
I think it’s a bad idea to yank a guy after one when it’s this close, epically a guy like Price who can go multiple innings. They should ride Wheeler as far as they can before they go to Price; saves be damned.
JI - October 11, 2008
I was actually thinking they would ride Price to the win.
I trust him more than Wheeler.
esoteric - October 11, 2008
Agreed.
Though having tomorrow off helps.
Teej - October 11, 2008
THATS WHY III LLOOOOOOVVVVVEEEE THIS TOOOOOWWWWNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!
Goose - October 11, 2008
You've been waiting for this.

I'm still trying to decide if it's worse than "This is our country"
Goose - October 11, 2008
Not even close
JI - October 11, 2008
They need to put it in a Chevy commercial.
Goose - October 11, 2008
With stock footage of MLK
JI - October 11, 2008
Even when he gets out he's so fucking awesome.
Teej - October 11, 2008
I'd like to reiterate: Lowrie is not a shortstop.
Teej - October 11, 2008
I'm a bit surprised they don't replace him.
JI - October 11, 2008
By all accounts he's a fair hitter.
He just doesn’t have the skills to play short. If he really starts hitting, though, I’m sure they’ll be cool with his below-average glove.
Teej - October 11, 2008
I mean late in the game.
JI - October 11, 2008
Oh, OK.
I guess because Lugo is also bad?
Teej - October 11, 2008
As far as I know.
JI - October 11, 2008
Price Down, Miller up.
Wait, what?
P Brady - October 11, 2008
They're holding Price out for if the game is tied.
Miller will probably face Ortiz and only Ortiz
JI - October 11, 2008
Wow, so this is going to be an utterly terrifying 8th inning.
esoteric - October 11, 2008
Go Moyer!
Goose - October 11, 2008
Uh oh's.
Goose - October 11, 2008
So wow, the Rays are totally fucked with Miller coming in, aren't they?
esoteric - October 11, 2008
No, not really
JI - October 11, 2008
Trever Miller in, My will to live out
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Why Miller? Why? Why? WHY?
esoteric - October 11, 2008
Good against lefties, disposable.
JI - October 11, 2008
Not good enough.
esoteric - October 11, 2008
He had more than a stikeout per inning and held lefties to a .612 OPS
Who the fuck else are they gonna use?
JI - October 11, 2008
"One of the hardest things to find in baseball, left handed pitchers who can get left handed hitters out."
….wait what?
Goose - October 11, 2008
...Does he mean a LOOGY?
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Crap crap crap crap
Goose - October 11, 2008
Fuck miller.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Game over.
esoteric - October 11, 2008
So... why Miller?
joof - October 11, 2008
I'd rather he faced Ortiz than Wheeler
JI - October 11, 2008
Price.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
That's a retarded strategy
Price for one batter?
JI - October 11, 2008
Wouldn't be for one batter
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Yes it would
Like they’re going to not use Wheeler against Bay and Youk
JI - October 11, 2008
Not enough experience for two.

JI - October 11, 2008
Jed Lowrie?
esoteric - October 11, 2008
Lowrie is an OK hitter.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Decent hitter, can put one in the gap, platoon advantage
JI - October 11, 2008
And almost did.
Teej - October 11, 2008

Teej - October 11, 2008
Ha
JI - October 11, 2008
Wheeler's BABIP against this year = .190
JI - October 11, 2008
Yeah, I was expecting his demise any time now.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
He's still an ok option
just not a guy I’d want pitching in… you know… this situation.
JI - October 11, 2008
Aaand an outfield line drive to end the inning.
Beautiful pitching, Wheeler.
Double06 - October 11, 2008
That NBA 2K9 ad with Kevin Garnett just promoted The Cool Kids!
Even if the Rays lose, I think I’ll be happy for the rest of the night.
Teej - October 11, 2008
They better win before Pap comes in, I bet he's got two innings in him
while the Rays have used their good relievers up already
JI - October 11, 2008
Balls!
JI - October 11, 2008
Shit.
Double06 - October 11, 2008
Something I just noticed.
We haven’t see RSN rear it’s ugly head. I haven’t heard any “Let’s Go Red Sox” chants.
Goose - October 11, 2008
Gotta admit they did a pretty good job of keeping them out of the stadium.
They’re there, obviously, but it’s not half the crowd or anything.
Teej - October 11, 2008

Yeah I realize that
JI - October 11, 2008
Can Zobrist really play right?
Eyebrows - October 11, 2008
No, but that hasn't stopped Maddon before.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
He's played the OF before
…How good he is?…
JI - October 11, 2008
Imagine Eric Hinskem with Johnny Damon's arm.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
He has to be faster than Hinske
JI - October 11, 2008
He has worst instincts in the OF
P Brady - October 11, 2008
And Hinske doesn't?
JI - October 11, 2008
Worse than Hinske.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
How about Perez?
JI - October 11, 2008
Good old Eduardo....
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
I'll miss Asdrubal Cabrera.

JI - October 11, 2008
I was kidding.

Either one.

Remember when B.J. Upton was one of the worst infielders in baseball?
Amazing what a position change can do. I don’t even blink when a ball is hit out there.
Teej - October 11, 2008
I can't believe Hanley Ramirez plays SS
JI - October 11, 2008
Yuniesky Betancourt plays shortstop
seattlebruin - October 11, 2008
He's no Hanley
JI - October 11, 2008
Purely anecdotal, but I hear he's much better this year.
Some metrics seem to reflect it, too, but SSS and all that . . .
Teej - October 11, 2008
Dumbass

Why so sad?
JI - October 12, 2008
French.
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 12, 2008
I see.
JI - October 12, 2008
Holy shit what is with these 150 decibel FOX Reality Show commercials
No one watches that goddamn channel stop promoting it
JLC - October 11, 2008
I didn't even know there was a Reality Show channel.
Disgusting.
Goose - October 11, 2008
FOX Reality Channel
I get it
JI - October 11, 2008
It makes me wonder why I bother with my current job
When any douche-faced moron can get instantaneous fame by participating in these inane excuses for entertaining programming.
JLC - October 11, 2008
Radio Shack is just my holding pattern till Fox comes a calling
Robert - October 11, 2008
This one I might watch.
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 12, 2008
On a lighter note, I'd say the probability that Jonathan Papelbon stars in some reality show after his career is finished is 100%
JLC - October 11, 2008
Already happened
Robert - October 11, 2008
Oh my goodness.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
That seems like it would be a fun picture to shop Jeff's face onto
JI - October 11, 2008
And Eliza Dushku.
Double06 - October 11, 2008
I thought Jeffing wasn't allowed anymore.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
JI is bulletproof
Robert - October 11, 2008
Only because he supplies the gifs
JLC - October 11, 2008
I feel confident in my comment immunity as well
Robert - October 11, 2008
It goes deeper than that.
JI - October 11, 2008
Blood like mercury.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
And I'm drinking just enough to make it so!
Robert - October 11, 2008
weeeeee
Robert - October 11, 2008
So awful it's hilarious
Use the Jeff in and Angel hat shop as a ref for the 2.0
JI - October 11, 2008
i've had a few sips so im sorry
did any won notice the two sets of ears?
Robert - October 11, 2008
This looks like the work of broberto after half a beer.
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 12, 2008
Nicely done
JLC - October 11, 2008
JI - October 11, 2008
Obligatory rec.
ASS-FUCK TWINS!
Teej - October 11, 2008
WOOOOOOOOOOO
JI - October 11, 2008
I've used up way too much emotion in this game.
Extras?
Teej - October 11, 2008
Fuck Pac-10 officials.
kentroyals5 - October 11, 2008
If anyone knows a pac-10 official..I will kill that official to make a point. I swear. Kill.
kentroyals5 - October 11, 2008
Ha ha
Robert - October 11, 2008
That was a great call
seattlebruin - October 11, 2008
Unbelievable...I can't even put into words. I don't think they even touched each other. haha
kentroyals5 - October 11, 2008
He never touched him. It was fantastic
seattlebruin - October 11, 2008
And the worst part is the slow motion replay where the guy is looking right at the play 2 feet away.
And he doesn’t throw his flag for like 3 seconds.
I’m just tired of the pac-10 official living up to their horribleness
kentroyals5 - October 11, 2008
For those without Pac-10 action, can we get an explanation of what happened?
(Even though I readily admit there needs no further explanation of why Pac-10 suck)
Wilder. - October 11, 2008
Fade route..Oregon CB turned and jumped with the receiver and caught it in the endzone for a touchback.
They didn’t even touch each other…but the flag was thrown like 2 seconds late.
kentroyals5 - October 11, 2008
Oregon picked off UCLA in the endzone on a terrible fade throw
the Oregon CB was flagged for PI despite never touching the reciever
seattlebruin - October 11, 2008
Which is amazing because every fade route has contact...this had zero.
kentroyals5 - October 11, 2008
OU must have had trouble sitting down after today's game too.
JI - October 11, 2008
That 5th inning was epic.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
Wheeler is still pitching?
Eyebrows - October 11, 2008
I imagine they will ride him as long as possible
JI - October 11, 2008
Until ortiz comes up.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
*fingers crossed
JI - October 11, 2008
He has decent career numbers against Papi.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
Pitch Trax is laughably horrible that was clearly over the plate
JI - October 11, 2008
I hate Youklis
InSpokane - October 11, 2008
I hate walks too. And high OBP.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
He doesn't walk that much
JI - October 11, 2008
His BB numbers have declined over the last few years.
91-77-62.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
He walks a good amount. Just not as much as advertised.
Teej - October 11, 2008
He could have been an A.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
Too much facial hair
JLC - October 11, 2008
Giambi had a boatload whe he was there.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
He was the best hitter on the best team in baseball this year.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Holy crap, Upton
stop that
JLC - October 11, 2008
Upton is scaring the hell out of me out there.
Come on Rays, I have to leave in 10 minutes. END IT ASSCLOWNS!
Goose - October 11, 2008

JI - October 11, 2008

Goose - October 11, 2008

Goose - October 11, 2008
That;s a bummer it's on ESPN radio here.

JI - October 11, 2008
At some point within the past 15 minutes, the design of StateCorner changed.
Teej - October 11, 2008

P Brady - October 11, 2008
See the left side of the page.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Oh, MINORS, FUCK YES/
P Brady - October 11, 2008

.Taylor - October 11, 2008

JI - October 11, 2008
SigmaTauAlphaTau corner
joof - October 11, 2008

JI - October 11, 2008
Yep, I like the logo.
Goose - October 11, 2008
Oh man, I love that they list wOBA right next to BRAA now.
So you don’t have to click on every player link.
Teej - October 11, 2008
And team tRA! And park factors!
I’m sure a post will be up soon about this, but if Matthew and Graham are reading this, you guys are awesome.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Yeah. Fantastic work guys. Wow.
Goose - October 11, 2008
They always had park factors.
I want lefty/righty park factors though
joof - October 11, 2008
That would be useful
JI - October 11, 2008
ahem
It was longer than 15 minutes ago.
But thanks.
Matthew - October 11, 2008
Did the URL change? Statcorner's one of my homepages, and not showing up.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
URL stayed the same
Graham MacAree - October 12, 2008
I swear I had just looked!
But yeah, awesome.
Teej - October 11, 2008
I fixed it!
Robert - October 11, 2008
Good man.
Teej - October 11, 2008
You fixed it?
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 12, 2008
My favorite part is where wOBA is scaled to OBP, but Felix has a 1.950, giving him almost double the max scale of OBP
joof - October 11, 2008
Longoria is missing the sixth, and most important tool
Grittiness
JLC - October 11, 2008
I'd take Willie over Longo anyday.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
And the seventh, experience
seattlebruin - October 11, 2008
And the eighth, an auger
JLC - October 11, 2008
And the ninth, Knowing what pitch is coming before it's pitched.
joof - October 11, 2008
If I'm ever feeling down, I need only read that article for a good laugh.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
Jesus Buck,
it’s not like the final score was gong to be 24-21
JI - October 11, 2008
How did he make contact?
JI - October 11, 2008
He golfs.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Someone just got their wish
JI - October 11, 2008
It missed the catwalk
kentroyals5 - October 11, 2008
Yeah, Paps, like Pedroia needed direction on where to throw the ball.
Wilder. - October 11, 2008
Natural born leader
JLC - October 11, 2008
Hit him harder, please.
Teej - October 11, 2008
Not high enough
Aim higher
JLC - October 11, 2008
I bet they try to squeeze a third inning out of him.
JI - October 11, 2008
Only 18 pitches
JI - October 11, 2008
What the fuck Wheeler STILL!?
Eyebrows - October 11, 2008
Well, once upon a time he was an awful starter for us.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Paul Byrd and Mike Timlin warming up?
Pleasepleasepleaseplease make it to the bottom of the 11th, Rays.
JLC - October 11, 2008
I don't think they can't make it to the bottom of the 11th.
joof - October 11, 2008
Papelbon should be able to handle another unless he was injured from the line drive
JI - October 11, 2008
This game is Extras! and Rays! and I cant even watch
:(
Robert - October 11, 2008
K!
Double06 - October 11, 2008

JI - October 11, 2008

JI - October 11, 2008
He's been pretty decent.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
Here's comes Mr. Price.
Teej - October 11, 2008
David Price after 4 warmups. This is good for his arm.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Here we go
Price!
JI - October 11, 2008
If David Price fucks this up, he was a waste of a 1st round draft pick and will be a failure for the rest of his life
JLC - October 11, 2008
And if he doesn't fuck this up,
he clearly belongs in the bullpen
Matthew - October 11, 2008
I think he might make a better starter
Robert - October 11, 2008
He's being sarcastic.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
So is he.
God.
Matthew - October 11, 2008

Robert - October 11, 2008
I'd call it 80/20
JLC - October 11, 2008
I give him an 80 in sarcasm. He's only a 30 in speed though, with a 20 in hitting.
joof - October 11, 2008
But 100 in grittiness.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
I'm a fast motherfucka

JLC - October 11, 2008
WHOO!!!
Aaron Campeau - October 11, 2008
PRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!!
Teej - October 11, 2008
I can't believe Mark fuckin' Kotsay is the Red Sox everyday firstbaseman.
JI - October 11, 2008
At least their no-hit first basemen can play defense.
Teej - October 11, 2008
...in the outfield
JI - October 11, 2008
Even better!
Teej - October 11, 2008

JI - October 11, 2008
Price got lucky
He was sweating bullets out there
JI - October 11, 2008
He did look frightened, but: Walk, strikeout, ground ball.
I’ll take it.
Teej - October 11, 2008
I would have soiled myself in a spectacular fashion.
Aaron Campeau - October 11, 2008
I came close to doing so on my couch.
Teej - October 11, 2008
YES! Timlin!
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
LET'S GO DIO!
Aaron Campeau - October 11, 2008
Timlin?
Seriously?
Francona has thrown in the towel
JI - October 11, 2008
BUT VETERAN PRESENCE.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
Who else were they gonna throw?
I just thought that, unless he was hurt, Pap had another inning in him
JI - October 11, 2008
Wow, I didn't realize Timlin had 4 rings.
He’s not really associated with it often.
Double06 - October 11, 2008
Well 2 Toronto, 2 Boston, right?
seattlebruin - October 11, 2008
He wasn't even good on those Blue Jay teams
JI - October 11, 2008
Mike Timlin is so so sexy
JLC - October 11, 2008
Does Tampa have a catcher lefto n the bench?
seattlebruin - October 11, 2008
Michel Hernandeaz
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Their gum chewing was perfectly in sync.
Aaron Campeau - October 11, 2008
Why bunt again?
JI - October 11, 2008
This is stupid
Zobrist has power, he has the platoon advantage, Timlin blows…
JI - October 11, 2008
Zobrist is awful.
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Wrong
JI - October 11, 2008
Uhhh
P Brady - October 11, 2008
Dude had 22 extra base hits
He may/ may not be a regular but he’s not that awful
JI - October 11, 2008
Zobrist is pretty good. Decent, i guess.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
Fernando Perez needs to pull off another one of these to end the game
Best. LCS. Finish. Ever.
Double06 - October 11, 2008
That's awesome.
Aaron Campeau - October 11, 2008
What, seriously, Farrell?
Maybe you guys should be angry that you put Mike Timlin into this game
JLC - October 11, 2008
Hahahaha
Aaron Campeau - October 11, 2008
2 on, nobody out.
.Taylor - October 11, 2008
Binting here actually isn't a horrible idea
but TImlin still blows so I can’t say I’d do it myself.
JI - October 11, 2008
Oh my God this is going to happen.
Teej - October 11, 2008
I am happy with this situation.

Teej - October 11, 2008
He has to run when he hits those.
Well, jog.
Aaron Campeau - October 11, 2008
I was going to make dinner after the game.
Now my dinner is pretzel crackers and cream cheese. Upton better fucking end it here.
Double06 - October 11, 2008

Kirsten Schlewitz - October 12, 2008
Was this longer than the Sox / Angels game?
JI - October 11, 2008
Yes, I think.
Not in number of innings, but actual length, I think so. I might be wrong though.
Blicks - October 11, 2008
This Sager outfit is conventionally amazing.
He can do it all.
Aaron Campeau - October 11, 2008
I have never been more excited for the post game interviews

kentroyals5 - October 11, 2008

Robert - October 11, 2008

kentroyals5 - October 11, 2008
Tim Kurkjian just wet himself with that finish.
Wilder. - October 11, 2008
Gammons just wet himself. He's old
kentroyals5 - October 11, 2008
Price wins the game..he's now officially a veteran
kentroyals5 - October 11, 2008
He's been through wars.

BrianL - October 11, 2008
