Hey all, just a quick note to let you know that we're out of Beta (in just 58 days, take that Google!).
Some brief highlights:
- New presentation, with a little less harsh green and including an actual logo
- Minor league data from 2007 and 2008. Please note that we do not (yet) have park factor information for minor leagues and we do not (and never will have) pitch by pitch data for A, A+, or AA leagues.
- tRA*
- A somewhat enhanced glossary look up and team selection widget for hopefully easier navigation around the site.
- Player search now includes the latest team for the player to help distinguish between all those Hernandez's and Young's.
There's still tons more to come and, as always, feedback's always welcome. Thanks.
StatCorner 1.0
:)
This makes me happy.

Just made this comment in the Rays thread, but it deserves repeating:
You guys rock. For how young it is, the site is stellar.
Teej - October 11, 2008
If you could have a easy way of organizing ML affiliations with the MLB club that would be great.
And A FF plugin would be nice
Robert - October 11, 2008
Dude, quick search.
Matthew - October 11, 2008
Just saying not everyone knows how to do quick search
Still excellent work
Robert - October 11, 2008
I looked into making a FF plugin
when you first brought it up, it seemed like too much work. I’ll give it another search though.
Matthew - October 11, 2008
The one thing that FF has over a QS
Is the fact that we could highlight than right click names that would normally be hard to spell
Robert - October 11, 2008
testing
FF plugin link
Let me know if this works.
Matthew - October 11, 2008
Ok, it seems to work
and has been added at the bottom of the stats page
Here
Matthew - October 11, 2008
Awesome.
Goose - October 12, 2008
I wouldn't mind seeing the teams organized more like baseball ref's
ie, regulars separated from backups, starters separated from relievers.
But, as said in the GT, the redesign looks very nice. Well done.
JI - October 11, 2008
I don't understand.
SP and RP are insanely seperated
Matthew - October 11, 2008
There's nothing I can say here that won't make me look less stupid.
JI - October 11, 2008
I think Miles' name threw me off...
JI - October 11, 2008
I make a badass amateur graphics designer huh?
Graham MacAree - October 11, 2008
Not enough comic fonts or flashing graphics.
pdb - October 11, 2008
Like you need my praise.
JI - October 12, 2008
As though you didn't receive amateur feedback throughout the process.
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 12, 2008
Amazingly, Robert's I HATE THIS CHANGE IT ALL
Was the most useful
Graham MacAree - October 12, 2008
I just liked being given the opportunity to complain about things on a daily basis.
Robert - October 12, 2008
The new look, and less of that horrible HTML green
is a great thing.
johnbai - October 13, 2008
I helped damn it.
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 13, 2008
You loved the horrible HTML green.
JI - October 13, 2008
Awesome
As long as you’re taking feedback – from a purely aesthetic perspective I think the logo would look much better with the alpha and taus in whatever font you use for the rest of it. The sigma fits in with the angularity and austerity of the font (what is that – it looks like the New Yorker) whereas the other letters are too rounded and don’t fit size-wise, making it seem strained. Just my $0.02.
Also, it seems intuitive to me that the underlines “AL” and “NL” over the team names on the front page should link directly to the pitching leaderboards for those leagues.
If the suggestions seem trivial its because the site is otherwise perfect ;)
Bearskin Rugburn - October 11, 2008
I love you Matthew and Graham
The Firefox search plugin makes life beautiful
You are beautiful people
May you have many virgins in the afterlife
Corco - October 12, 2008
who wants virgins?
big mistake
Bearskin Rugburn - October 12, 2008
All I want out of the afterlife is a supply of tea, a bed, and a wiki to browse that knows everything ever.
A toilet would be handy too I suppose.
Graham MacAree - October 12, 2008
May you have all this too
Corco - October 12, 2008
You don't have to shit or piss in the afterlife
I have it on good authority
johnbai - October 13, 2008
Though I suppose you might want the toilet for other things?
johnbai - October 13, 2008
Excellent work y'all
All that hard work paid off. It looks fantastic.
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 12, 2008
Will you be adding tRA* to the leaderboard?
Fett42 - October 12, 2008
I second this request
Dewey N - October 12, 2008
and done.
Matthew - October 12, 2008
You're a doll
Dewey N - October 12, 2008
I am definately behind the curve when it comes to all these new-fangled stats.
But this site makes me want to learn. Thanks for being good at what you enjoy.
Omerta - October 12, 2008
It's just so pretty and helpful
Dewey N - October 12, 2008
Pretty being the most important element here.
Kirsten Schlewitz - October 12, 2008
It sucks.
And by sucks i mean totally rules all.
Goose - October 12, 2008
Felix's tRA* last year was only .1 off of his incredible 2005 season
Who knew?
Dewey N - October 12, 2008
I'm sure you know this, but 2005 had more regression because there were way fewer plate appearances
tRA* is not a yearly performance indicator, it’s our best guess as to a player’s talent level given a year’s worth of data at any one level.
tRA* for one start will (almost) always be league average, etc.
Graham MacAree - October 12, 2008
I knew that and forgot momentarily
Dewey N - October 12, 2008
Yay
Jeff Sullivan - October 12, 2008
I can't find the minor league stats
ConorGlassey - October 12, 2008
They're accessible from the main page tabs as well as the 'team select' box for 2007 and 2008
You can also search for players.
Graham MacAree - October 12, 2008
I'm fucking blind. Sorry...
ConorGlassey - October 12, 2008
`
Dewey N - October 12, 2008
Actually I'd be more tempted to take the minus sign out of OxO
Graham MacAree - October 12, 2008
I was just looking for consistency
Dewey N - October 13, 2008
Toronto's Pitching
Okay, so we knew it was good. But 5th best SP with a TRA+ of 102? Seriously wow.
Oh, and “NB: You can sort on multiple columns by holding down the shift key while clicking on column headers” = yay!
MarkE - October 13, 2008
Just one question
is an eTat when you get a tattoo over the internet?
