In the spirit of that mood chart from a little while ago, an important thing to remember whenever planning a trip:
Few days suck worse than that first day back. I think I'm beginning to understand why people do drugs. Reality with responsibilities is totally stupid.
Anyway, posting should be back to normal by tomorrow, after the re-adjustment is complete. Wednesday at the latest. In the meantime, I present to you the poll to end all polls. I was quick to run with Zoinks, but perhaps I was a bit too hasty. This one is best left to the people.
Choose wisely, for after this, there shall be no going back, unless I feel like it. And as always, anyone who attempts to turn this November ballot thread into something more sinister and controversial will be sent on a trip of his own to Monster Island*. I wouldn't try us.

Submitted for your consideration
Think of the possibilities, people. I have the complete boxset of Futurama and I now know how to make gifs.
BrianL - November 3, 2008
Although the gifs JI and Jeff could make would make mine look terrible...
BrianL - November 3, 2008
Yeah...really is there any other option?
SethGrandpa - November 3, 2008
Now look at this
Photoshop a set of mouth tendrils on and you’ve got Doctor Zoidberg.
BrianL - November 3, 2008
Convenient, because that is one of my favorite moments from that show
Zoidberg is my vote
tootthekazoo - November 3, 2008
I'm with Zoidberg.
Thingray - November 4, 2008
You can't gif dvds
JI - November 3, 2008
I have tools you don't have.
BrianL - November 3, 2008
Just call him Z.
It has a nice SBN2.0 tie in.
Robert - November 3, 2008
Zduriencik
I’m happy I can spell and say his name (zu-ren-sik) right.
Gomez - November 3, 2008
Elitist.
BrianL - November 3, 2008
I can spell crazy hockey names too but that doesn't mean I want to do it every day
Jeff Sullivan - November 3, 2008
You could just take that option off the poll...
BrianL - November 3, 2008
If enough people prefer it then that's the way it'll go
Jeff Sullivan - November 3, 2008
Oh you're no fun anymore.
BrianL - November 3, 2008

Aaron Campeau - November 3, 2008

royalcurve - November 3, 2008

Jeff Sullivan - November 3, 2008

BrianL - November 3, 2008
Me too
Stupid Zoidberg
darmok - November 3, 2008
Run GMZ dammit
Nick S - November 3, 2008
NVM late
Nick S - November 3, 2008
Agreed.
brayden04 - November 4, 2008
I've voted GMZ as well
I LOVE Zoidberg (in an inappropriate manner for discussion), but I just see no connection to the GM besides the “Z” to justify it. If he were known to be bizarre beyond comprehension and mumbled a lot, perhaps, but I just don’t see it.

Jeff Sullivan - November 3, 2008

Robert - November 3, 2008

Aaron Campeau - November 3, 2008
On a scale of 1-10
how much do you rue that Recap in Pictures thread, Jeff?
BrianL - November 3, 2008
Historically Jeff has liked being shopped into situations that reinforce his authority.
Aaron Campeau - November 3, 2008
You're something else, ac. My compliments to your moxie.
royalcurve - November 3, 2008
I'm still pissed that Matthew's LeninJeff never got the recognition it deserved.
Aaron Campeau - November 3, 2008
Truly an underrated Jeff-shop.
BrianL - November 3, 2008
Indeed.
Matthew - November 3, 2008
Do you have the data to back up this statement?
Kirsten Schlewitz - November 4, 2008
At least nothing should hold him back for future picture recaps.
Wilder. - November 3, 2008
I don't know about that.
Fogel wasn’t around for the first one, was he?
BrianL - November 3, 2008
I just figure people have enough pictures of Jeff to do as they wish.
Having more just adds to awesome recaps, not so much creative photoshops.

Dr. Zaius or Dr. Zhivago
OlSalty - November 3, 2008
Holly hell GMZ is popular.
BrianL - November 3, 2008
Z keeps it nice and simple
Wilder. - November 3, 2008
GMZ is like me with a Z :(
Graham MacAree - November 3, 2008
And flipped around.
Stop the pouting.
Kirsten Schlewitz - November 4, 2008
Looks like Zoinks is out of the running.
BrianL - November 3, 2008
This is like watching a horse race.
“Zoidberg out to the early lead, Z coming to the front of the pack, and DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME! And GMZ is moving like a tremendous ma-chine! He’s out there all alone!”

I hope he hires a manager whose name sounds good after “Funk Master”
OlSalty - November 3, 2008

BrianL - November 3, 2008
Run GMZ and Funk Master Bobby V.

OlSalty - November 3, 2008
I think that's why people like it.
But for DMZ.
Wilder. - November 3, 2008
I thought it was Jam Master
But I still approve of this method of hiring
tootthekazoo - November 3, 2008
Funk Master Flex and Jam Master Jay
Either one works for me.
OlSalty - November 4, 2008
I am glad this being put to a vote, Zoinks sucked.
I had to flip a coin between Zoidberg and Z, ended up going with Z.

...how many regulars do we have here?
And how many of those regulars have signed up on multiple accounts to vote?
BrianL - November 3, 2008
Why would you have multiple accounts in the first place?
Unless you’re Corco and you want to avoid being banned. I don’t get it.
royalcurve - November 3, 2008

Who knows, but let's discuss the Monkey Island series of games tonight and tomorrow
Because that was what I read when I saw that, and those games are very great
tootthekazoo - November 3, 2008
Oh I love Monkey Island.
Those were the days when you had to put some thought into games. Other great series:
Space Quest
Kings Quest
Police Quest
Leisure Suit Larry
Wilder. - November 3, 2008
RIP Sierra.
BrianL - November 3, 2008
Sierra and Lucas Arts.
Loom was another great game, but it didn’t turn into a series.
Wilder. - November 3, 2008
Lucas Arts today is a damn joke.
BrianL - November 3, 2008
No kidding
It saddens me to no end. I still play all of the games I just mentioned, and could probably quote Monkey Island verbatim (like with Ghostbusters)

When you're at the Fettuccini Brothers' Circus
Just after being shot from the cannon. You’re stuck upside down against the pole you crashed into, and this option was printed upside down as well
tootthekazoo - November 3, 2008
Monkey Island II?
Wilder. - November 3, 2008
The first. On Melee Island™ you go to the circus to earn your money
After the aforementioned situation, you are asked if you are ok. That was an available response
tootthekazoo - November 3, 2008
It's been so long since I played the first Monkey Island.
I just remember the 2D town at the beginning of the game and then going off into the woods to sword fight.
Wilder. - November 3, 2008
I last played through it about 6 months ago
But I’ve done it so many times now that it’s all in permanent storage in the brain.
It’s a Rubber Chicken with a pulley in the middle
tootthekazoo - November 3, 2008
Leisure Suit Larry was always a favorite
Even though I was not supposed to be playing it… And lets not forget Grim Fandango (which just had it’s 10th Anniversary last Thursday), Full Throttle, Sam and Max, and Day of the Tentacle.
tootthekazoo - November 3, 2008
I remember when I was four years old on Christmas Eve.
Down the hall my dad and my uncle were playing the first installment of Leisure Suit Larry and my brother and I fell asleep in the hallway trying to watch them play. I find it funny how I knew at the time why my dad didn’t want us to watch.
Wilder. - November 3, 2008
Adventure games died a deserving death
fuck Roberta Williams.
bluemax - November 4, 2008
Ah so you're one of those people who's mad at Roberta Williams for being a gaming "elitist."
BrianL - November 4, 2008

tootthekazoo - November 3, 2008

I prefer that Futurama reference.
DAMellen - November 3, 2008
I might just call him "Other"
and see how long I get away with it.
Two Rs and Two Ls - November 3, 2008
We're going to get bored of Zoidberg real quickly
I vote we call him Jay Z
JI - November 3, 2008
People need to realize that no matter how hard you try
laziness always wins out in the end.
Robert - November 3, 2008
How the hell did Czar Dick Junkie not make the list?
Matthew - November 3, 2008
I thought that was the entire appeal behind Z getting hired.
Robert - November 3, 2008
Because it's a given that it will come up as soon as something goes wrong
This way we have a backup in case things go well
tootthekazoo - November 3, 2008
I thought the list was sa way of pandering to the masses
And y’all are gonna call him what you feel like calling him.
JI - November 3, 2008
Yeah, he didn't even mention when the polls close
This is probably like those “elections” that happen in places where the guy in charge will not leave office because he has a law that elections are fake and tools of the devil or somesuch
tootthekazoo - November 3, 2008
This totally what the eLLections would have resulted in had Jeff allowed it.
Robert - November 3, 2008
I have no doubt
tootthekazoo - November 3, 2008
Stop listening to the media.
This is totally valid poll and we always listen to them…
Matthew - November 3, 2008
I'm just telling people I'm voting for Zoidberg
because I am afraid of being seen a prejudice against marine creatures. I bet the gap is closer than the polls say.
JI - November 3, 2008
That's too long to type
Kirsten Schlewitz - November 4, 2008
Campaing Poster here
tootthekazoo - November 3, 2008
Zduriencik
I spent a long time learning how to spell that son of a bitch’s name. (Long time = four minutes)
Zoidberg: I love a good obscure reference, but I never did like Futurama, so I have to vote against this one on pure indifference.
Zoinks! is at least semi-funny because it’s a great expletive. And Scooby-Doo is always funny.
This is all, of course, based on the premise that we HAVE to give this guy a nickname immediately. My vote is for waiting until a more natural nickname presents itself. Let’s not hurt ourselves giving a nickname to a guy we know nothing about. We have a long time to find something good. We know nothing about this man.
In the absence of any nickname that makes sense to me, I’ll just spell out his name.
Teej - November 4, 2008
It's almost like you're an editor or something!
seattlebruin - November 4, 2008
Let me get this straight
Futurama = Not funny
but Scooby Doo = Always funny
You either smoke too much, or not enough, pot.

seattlebruin - November 4, 2008

General Manager Z
Kirsten Schlewitz - November 4, 2008

Jeff Sullivan - November 4, 2008

The Typical Idiot Fan - November 4, 2008
Zoidberg
mark sobba - November 4, 2008
At this stage in the voting it's clear that a plurality is the best you can hope for
There’s clearly no “mandate” to go forward with any single nickname.
Perhaps a second election featuring just the top two vote-getters?
johnbai - November 4, 2008
Or we could just run with Zoidberg and Z.
BrianL - November 4, 2008
Still fits
tootthekazoo - November 4, 2008
As in no second poll, just use both.
BrianL - November 4, 2008
Now we have the affectionate names cornered, we need to think of the negative ones we can use in the future.
