This has come up in a few other places, but I think it deserves its own mention on the front page - thanks in part to the Phillies' generosity, the Mariners are set to have a high first round pick, a low first round pick, a compensatory sandwich, and a high second round pick in next year's amateur draft. Throw in another potential first round pick in the event that they don't sign Josh Fields and you're looking at a hell of a chance for the new front office to re-stock the minor league system in a God damn hurry.

I'm really excited to see how the new FO goes about drafting.

Are we going to have to worry about signing bonuses for all these picks?

We're rich goddamit...
And with some contracts falling off the table we could sign all of them.

Richie is off the books.
So is Ibanez and WFB.

And Putz
and Washburn (come ON, Z!)

I can live without those other bums
but WFB was clearly the answer to all of our problems.

If we fuck this up Oakland style
I’m going to pretend to get really angry and type in all caps, when in reality I will only be somewhat annoyed.

You are lucky that drafting is Z’s strength, Mariners’ fans. Toronto had three lost years of drafting between Ash’s last two drafts and JP’s first. It is still hurting the organization 6-8 years later. Stupid Ash!
