"Today we achieved one of our off-season goals," Bavasi said. "Carl Everett is a clutch-hitting run producer with power. As a switch-hitter, he provides our lineup with added versatility. Carl is a winner, most recently as a member of the 2005 World Series Champion Chicago White Sox. His experience and intensity will be welcome additions to our clubhouse."
-----
"Russell gives us a veteran left-handed bat with power and can be used as a first baseman, third baseman or designated hitter," said Zduriencik. "One of our off-season goals is to add some left-handed power to our club. The addition of Russell accomplished some of that."
...
"I know what Russell can do. I've seen him put spurts together that can be very impressive."
...
"Russell is going to swing and miss and will have his strikeouts," Zduriencik said, "but Russell also is going to hit the ball out of the ballpark."

You think we're in better hands? I think we're in better hands.

More final thoughts? haha
But I think the constant drum beat has not been how Russell will help this team compete/win or how great he is, but how great the idea behind signing him is. The reiteration of the process by all these posts this evening, and not the signing itself, is what is important and exciting. Hope and Change is here!!

Needs more:
I love how GMZ keeps it simple instead of the fluffy wording that Bavasi would use to justify the signing.

They still have Everett's name in the tagbase?

But does Russell believe in Dinosaurs?
olyroller - December 3, 2008
I think he believes gay Dinosaurs landed on the moon.

I'm the guy that's waiting for the other shoe to drop
because I’ve put my hand on this particular stove one too many times to trust it, but as a first step I am reasonably impressed.

WE FINALLY MADE IT!

Awesome
Good luck with Branyan. Is the thought that he would DH? Seems almost like a waste to have two good defensive 3Bs.

GMZ indicated he'll be the starting 1B.

Well, since we don't, it's no waste.
