Because they are a ray of hope (sorry) in the war of two evils in the AL EAST… Fuck NYY, Fuck Boston, finally a legit alternative that has a shot at shutting espn the fuck up (not that they will)
I’m just saying, drama isn’t welcomed by the type of guys we have here. Just like you wouldn’t say that sort of thing to your buddies across the table from you at your local pub.
And it’s just sort of a local joke. We have more confidence in the Rays than Rays fans. We have nothing to be happy about with our own team.
We don’t need to be hating on him for it. He just needs to know, there’s nothing to really be annoyed about with it. It’s a meme. Same thing with Bonds, Lillibridge, etc.
On the postgame radio show our host had fans walking by stop and sing the tune. Now I’d estimate there were probably 70% Red Sox fans, I doubt half of them know what that song signifies to the Sox.
It reminds me a bit of how nutty the last few years at the Kingdome were.
The period of time between when the Rays go for it, and when the new stadium gets built is going to be a blast—especially if the fans any where near as awesome as they were on opening day.
WOW!
stlcardinalsfang - April 27, 2008
Could you quit with the Rays crap?
We get it – you like the way their team is put together, and they have some great young talent.
This is a Mariners blog though and I don’t see many other SBN editors posting praise for other clubs. It’s not funny or anything either.
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
Sorry, came off harsher than I intended. But come on.
Go Mariners.
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
I like TB
Because they are a ray of hope (sorry) in the war of two evils in the AL EAST… Fuck NYY, Fuck Boston, finally a legit alternative that has a shot at shutting espn the fuck up (not that they will)
mariners124m - April 27, 2008
Ok...
So support them on their blog?
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
You cannot be seriously telling Jeff what he should and shouldn't post on HIS OWN BLOG
It’s not like we lack for sufficient Mariners coverage here anyway.
esoteric - April 27, 2008
You do realize it's not his blog, but SBN's? He signed a contract giving it to them..
So… I kind of expect Mariners stuff and don’t mind the occasional foray into OT baseball related things.
I didn’t realize it was SO SHOCKING to ask for RAYS stuff to go away. This is the Mariners blog, right? ...
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
Not as if I'm bashing him as a writer, Jeff is great at what he does.
I just think the Rays stuff is a little much.
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
They do, a few of them at least.
R.J. Anderson - April 27, 2008
Why would you? We suck at blogging.
R.J. Anderson - April 27, 2008
You are what is wrong with the internet
And why commenters make those of us with blogs want to punch ourselves in the face.
davidcameron - April 27, 2008
Such an insightful post, thanks for adding a lot with your comment.
Shouldn’t you be running some simulations on the Mariners or writing a blog critiquing whatever Geoff Baker has written lately?
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
Blogs aren't written for you.
Jeff Sullivan - April 27, 2008
They're written for Rays fans. ©™
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
You know what you can do if you don't like reading something?
Jeff Sullivan - April 27, 2008
Yeah, I can complain in the comments section of a Mariners blog.
or were you going to say something else?
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
Complain all you want
but this place doesn’t exist to make you happy. It exists to make me happy. The Rays make me happy. So deal with it.
Jeff Sullivan - April 27, 2008
Needlepoint?
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
cmon on now
lets not get cunty
don gato - April 27, 2008
massive fail
JI - April 27, 2008
Guys
Let’s stop ganging up on ASUBoyd. Obviously he’s not familiar with LL.
ASUBoyd, take it (Jeff and LL) for what it is, stop kicking the beehive.
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
Whatever, forget it.
If everyone here loves the public fellating of the Rays on an M’s blog – fine. Such homerism for these blog writers is embarassing though.
You all realize they can do something wrong and still be good writers, and great contributions to the Mariners community ?
Sorry, butthol. (what? lol.) Didn’t realize it was so controversial to go against the gain here, i’ll make sure to toe the line from now on…
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
No I'm not butthurt or anything
I’m just saying, drama isn’t welcomed by the type of guys we have here. Just like you wouldn’t say that sort of thing to your buddies across the table from you at your local pub.
And it’s just sort of a local joke. We have more confidence in the Rays than Rays fans. We have nothing to be happy about with our own team.
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
Exactly
Anyone who doesn’t understand this running gag ought to spend more time learning the lay of the land over here before talking out of turn.
esoteric - April 27, 2008
Haha, I apologize I'm not up to snuff on my LL lore.
Glad to see it is such an insular community and not one looking to gain new readers/contributers.
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
New readers suck
Jeff Sullivan - April 27, 2008
Disclaimer to ASU:
Not to be butthurt by.
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
Not all new readers
Just the ones that show up and tell you how to do your job.
Sec 108 - April 29, 2008
You assume you're intelligent enough to contribute here
This is perhaps unwise.
Graham MacAree - April 27, 2008
Again,
We don’t need to be hating on him for it. He just needs to know, there’s nothing to really be annoyed about with it. It’s a meme. Same thing with Bonds, Lillibridge, etc.
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
Is it though?
I feel like the Bonds stuff is no problem since it has something to do with the Mariners – get rid of Vidro’s broke ass and bring in some lumber.
Rays though? I just don’t get it i suppose.
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
We don't actually give a flying fuck what you think
Graham MacAree - April 27, 2008
Disclaimer #2
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
Wow. Bringing out the vulgarity. Nice move.
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
I'm offended by idiocy
I respond with things idiots find offensive.
Graham MacAree - April 27, 2008
Is there some group of people that like being told that?
I think if you walked up to most people and said that, you’d probably find the vast majority of people find it offensive
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
The vast majority of people
Would find everyone here offensive.
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
I would be honored to have Graham call me a idiot
Robert - April 27, 2008
Most people are idiots
So it stands to reason most people would be offended.
OlSalty - April 27, 2008
I think there's some sort of note on Graham
When we sign up.
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
I should have read the fine print!
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
It was the only sentence.
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
Its true
The terms of service are something like:
“No being mean, except Graham.”
joof - April 27, 2008
Damn
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
Well, now you know
Learn it. Know it. Live it.
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
Love it?
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
Lave it
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
I understand, that. Fair enough I guess.
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
We cool?
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
Yeah, dude.
I’m not mad or anything, I can tell i’m riling some people up.
I was just commenting.
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
Don't think you're riling them up
They’re just like that. *WE’re just like that.
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
Haha, I see that
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
I understand where you're coming from
and you do have a point, but the Rays stuff isn’t really THAT excessive, it’s not really a big deal
besides, TB is an easy team to like
mariners124m - April 27, 2008
That's true
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
You Were Warned.
Shrug - April 27, 2008
HAHA nice.
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
Hahaha
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
kind of off topic

qrsouther - April 27, 2008
haha
can we please get back to Felix devirginizing everybody
don gato - April 27, 2008
I was kinda liking this angry venting thread
qrsouther - April 27, 2008

don gato - April 27, 2008

Guhhh
don gato - April 27, 2008

marinator - April 27, 2008
How original
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
Ah baiting
I’m familiar. Fail though.
marinator - April 27, 2008
Too Shakespearean
Make it frank.
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
This is doubly awesome
Rays win: good
Boston lose: good
Jeff Sullivan - April 27, 2008
Sheilds looked pretty lights out.
So does David Ortiz this year and not in a good way.
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
Last I checked
Jose Vidro has been the least productive regular DH in the AL. Ortiz has been the second-least productive.
...
Jeff Sullivan - April 27, 2008
At least he is making ~twice as much as Vidro.
Can we take solace in that? I’m not sure.
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
I HATE IT WHEN SoMEONE IS PoSITIVE ABOUT A TEAM OTHER THAN MY OWN
JI - April 27, 2008
At least the Ps weren't lower cased this time.
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
YEAH LETS DEVALUE WHAT IVE SAID INTO SOMETHING MEANINGLESS LIKE THIS WOO
no, I’m just saying it should be in the OT diaries not on the main page of a Mariners blog. That is it.
You do not need to agree.
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
I have a right to my opinion,
It’s my opinion that your opinion sucks.
JI - April 27, 2008
Insipid, high five
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
Do you honestly people will take your aboslte hating as some sort of well thought out nugget of wisdom?
JI - April 27, 2008
My what?
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
Revise that post JI
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
I'm tired of pointing out my typos
add a U, subtract letters where beeded.
JI - April 27, 2008
Where beeded indeed
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
Yeah
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
case in point
JI - April 27, 2008
I, for one, love the Rays.
R.J. Anderson - April 27, 2008
Haha. Word
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
Word = first.
R.J. Anderson - April 27, 2008
I want it make it clear I'm not laughing at own comment. Otherwise - ok
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
I for one, welcome our new Devil Ray overloards.
JI - April 27, 2008
Devil?
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
overloards?
How fat are your fingers?
Jeff Sullivan - April 27, 2008
Tator tot fingers
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
I need a special typing wand.
JI - April 27, 2008
R.J. Anderson - April 27, 2008
HOLY. SMURF.
qrsouther - April 27, 2008
And since the O's lost...first place.
R.J. Anderson - April 27, 2008
Great sign. He even took it down to exact dollar amounts, which may or may not be accurate
ASUBoyd - April 27, 2008
Excellent
Jeff Sullivan - April 27, 2008
This sign was awesome until the Priceless part
Matthew - April 28, 2008
So from DRaysBay I learned that they were playing Sweet Caroline after the win
ahahahaha
Fuck you Boston.
Jeff Sullivan - April 27, 2008
Oh it gets much better
On the postgame radio show our host had fans walking by stop and sing the tune. Now I’d estimate there were probably 70% Red Sox fans, I doubt half of them know what that song signifies to the Sox.
R.J. Anderson - April 27, 2008
This comment also made my day:
That’s right, Rays fans are officially “a-holes” to Sox fans, success!
R.J. Anderson - April 27, 2008
It reminds me a bit of how nutty the last few years at the Kingdome were.
The period of time between when the Rays go for it, and when the new stadium gets built is going to be a blast—especially if the fans any where near as awesome as they were on opening day.
JI - April 27, 2008
The design pics of that new stadium look oh so sexy
Nick S - April 27, 2008
The Rays should be contracted! ~2002
