Once again I was intending to get home from work and watch the MLB.tv archived video, but then I accidentally found out the final score around 3:30. (You'd be surprised how difficult it is for a person with my Internet habits to avoid baseball scores.) At first I was mad at myself, but then I thought, boy, talk about your time savers.
Biggest Contribution: Raul Ibanez, +16.4%
Biggest Suckfest: Eric O'Flaherty, -24.8%
Most Important AB: Ibanez double, +13.7%
Most Important Pitch: Huff homer, -28.1%
Total Contribution by Pitcher(s): -22.9%
Total Contribution by Hitters: -27.1%
Total Contribution by Opposition: 0.0%
(What is this chart?)
I'm pretty sure this entire series was George Sherrill giving an extended one-finger salute to everyone who thought the Bedard trade was simply exchanging a talented young outfielder for an established ace. Guess what? It hurt the bullpen too, and while Eric O'Flaherty isn't nearly as bad as he's looked so far, he's still a substantial downgrade. We sacrificed an awful lot to get our #1, and while the highs will be terrific, this is the kind of unreliability we'll have to deal with in between. Get used to feeling uneasy.
(On a side note: even if I did want to watch the MLB.tv archived video, it won't load. I'm not entirely sure what the purpose is of having an archive if you're not going to make it accessible. Is anyone else having this problem?)

Well so much for getting out of the gate fast
and taking advantage of Lackey and Escobar being out.
Goose - April 7, 2008
Fortunately, GS52 is on my fantasy team
On the other hand, I would've taken 3 M's wins over 3 GS52 saves anyday
Fin - April 7, 2008
And hopefully, Bedard will be our losing streak stopper that we got him for
Fin - April 7, 2008
Two things, since MLB.tv just started working:
(1) great awareness by Beltre there in the fourth
(2) Sexson seems to have taken sliding notes from Jose Guillen
Jeff Sullivan - April 7, 2008
Kill me now.
Fett42 - April 7, 2008
Exact same situation, close enough at least...
I'd been in class since 9 this morning, and at right around 3:30 I got anxious to know what happened, and saw the score. I spent the rest of that class doodling pictures of hanging myself.
thenatural - April 7, 2008
Look for this in Right Field starting Friday.
BrettJMiller - April 7, 2008
Improved offense
AND LF defense!
Fett42 - April 7, 2008
I hate that this is true, but you're right.
BrettJMiller - April 7, 2008
I'd still DH him regardless.
JI - April 7, 2008
Personally, I'd prefer this:
C Clement
1B Ibanez
2B Lopez
3B Beltre
SS Betancourt
LF Balentien
CF Ichiro
RF Wilkerson
DH Bonds
Good all around defense except for maybe 1B. I just feel like Kenji's gonna have a big collapse this year...and I'm sure by mid-May Clement will be ready, even if his skills behind the plate aren't great.
BrettJMiller - April 7, 2008
I agree with Bonds being better defensively
even though he can't run because he'll take much better routes. However, he's an old man and you've gotta keep his legs fresh otherwise he'd robably get hurt/ underperform/ need a shit ton of days off.
JI - April 7, 2008
Also, I've solved the PR problem
use this picture with the appropriate team logos photoshopped in:
No one can look like an asshole with flags behind them. Flags! Look, flags!
JI - April 7, 2008
Time for some Photoshop

Too bad he's saluting (is that a salute?) with the wrong hand.
Coach Owens - April 7, 2008
Don't question Barry Bonds' patriotism.
If you do, the terrorists win.
BrianL - April 7, 2008
Don't question Osama bin Laden's patriotism.
If you do, the terrorists w-wait...
Coach Owens - April 7, 2008
Osama Bin Laden is just a little bit misunderstood

Our new DH (a real explosive bat)
Jordan of Boise - April 7, 2008
Smaller images please
(This goes for everyone. Especially Paul.)
Jeff Sullivan - April 7, 2008
Get a better monitor
That image is quite manageable at a modest 1400x1050. Pauls, on the other hand, require a drive in movie theatre.
Jordan of Boise - April 7, 2008
Dammit!
I forget the 'width="400"' parameter ONE TIME and I hear about it for months.
Glad to know I'm still loved 'round these parts ;-)

Hang in there, you'll make Star yet.

Heh, that wasn't supposed to trick anyone.

Uh-huh.

Much better.
Coach Owens - April 7, 2008
Well this won't get confusing at all

Nice. Very minor, but you can still see the orange on his Giants cap.
redwolf75 - April 7, 2008
not bad
JI - April 7, 2008
That is awesome
BrettJMiller - April 7, 2008
It was already in the original but can't you get the green out between his legs?
Schuxu - April 8, 2008
What, exactly, are you doing looking between Barry's legs???
PositivePaul - April 8, 2008
Man that is a dream come true!
Its just sad that a team would choose to sign miguel cairo over Bonds.
Fin - April 7, 2008
MLB videos
I'm having trouble with the videos at mlb.com also. They don't work half the time and the whole interface is horribly designed. I don't know why they had to change something that wasn't broken.
straypuppy - April 7, 2008
Maybe they work with the SBN technical team
Jeff Sullivan - April 7, 2008
I think the fork in Richie's back got taken out and plunged into EOF's potato.
I'm also pretty sure that's a sexual metaphor for something.

I approve of this comment.

Okay.
Who Gave Silva a fork?

Have you seen me?
Jordan of Boise - April 7, 2008
All of the struggling bullpen members (Lowe, Taters)
are currently on TV, being interviewed about why Charlton is a great influence.
Speaking of which, I'd be content with us putting some rage against Charlton. He was the guy who said Felix needs to throw almost only fastballs.
CapSea - April 7, 2008
I wouldn't mind that
If he throw them almost only at people's heads. In the dugout.
Jordan of Boise - April 7, 2008
Hmm
When I first read this comment, I thought they were talking about Jimmerson, and I was confused as to why a backup outfielder was giving pitching advice. Then I realized who they were acctually talking about, and it makes much more sense.
joof - April 7, 2008
Jimerson may do a better job.
CapSea - April 8, 2008
I leave you with this. no words.
(I also have a funk blast one I am yet to debut)
