I specifically looked for the two spaces and didn't see it. It's almost like the two spaces don't show up, but are there when the individual registers.
I think it had to do with two incorrect posts. The first under coach's name saying something uncoachlike and then adding "whoops, wrong screenname" and the second was him responding to Coach asking who it was with "it's me!" and then "or not" - could be an indicator that he meant to write that under coach's name, but not necessarily.
Then it could have happened like this: A moderator of LL looks at one of the old "Will Thompson" or "CoachOwens" accounts, enters the password to have it at their universal nickname and then change the display name to "Coach Owens".
I picked my username drunk, which is as stupid as getting a drunken tatoo. I didn't want my full name on here anymore, but I certainly didn't want to be "NOT CORCO"
and no point in going on a witch hunt. I've already been accused at least twice in this thread, which isn't cool. Putting the blame on innocent people isn't going to help anything.
It hurts the site because once everyone is anonymous, there's no credibility or responsibility, and the site degenerates into attacks and harrassment. People have one name on the site in order to back up a sense of culpability.
Once you open that pandora's box of impersonation/anonymity/cloning, then the value placed in everyone's username and their attached reputation in the community is lost. Go look at any message board that allows anonymous posting and see what I mean. It's one of the things that separates LL from the Seattle PI mariners board.
We figured out the bug right after the first Coach impersonations started happening and complained at Trei to fix it a while ago. They're working on it.
This whole thing made no sense and was awesome at the same time.
More amazing was that everyone involved was somehow involved in other ways, and everyone accused was guilty of something else. What a weird thread this is.
and on the brightside, once that account is banned it will still be a taken username. Jeff_ doesn't work, so unless I'm missing something there are no other possible Jeff impersonator names
Jeff's pretty conservative with the banhammer. Course then again, he hasn't really had to use it. Since this is a pretty tight knit community, we do a pretty good job of policing ourselves. It's one of the things that makes this place so awesome.

I think it had to do with two incorrect posts. The first under coach's name saying something uncoachlike and then adding "whoops, wrong screenname" and the second was him responding to Coach asking who it was with "it's me!" and then "or not" - could be an indicator that he meant to write that under coach's name, but not necessarily.

Jeff's pretty conservative with the banhammer. Course then again, he hasn't really had to use it. Since this is a pretty tight knit community, we do a pretty good job of policing ourselves. It's one of the things that makes this place so awesome.

Current timeline has him returning in full within 2-3 weeks most likely.
It doesn't look like he'll require much, if any, extra time past the minimum on the D/L and they're likely going to want him to take about a week afterwards in rehab assignments since the injury is normally one that lingers and since it was early in the year.
