didn’t use the fake limp to the dugout move after he got his ass chased of the field.
Come on, Jarrod… you have a whole arsenal of excuses to go to… You’ve only used the ‘Throw your Catcher Completely Under the Bus’ one so far… but that doesn’t mean anything.
“After the game, I spoke with starting pitcher Jarrod Washburn, who got roughed up by the Tigers to the tune of 9 runs on 12 hits in just 2.1 innings, one of his more mediocre outings of the year. Washburn said that Johjima was having trouble communicating with Burke, who caught today. ‘Well Kenji is calling the pitches from the dugout,’ Washburn said ’ and for some reason, he kept calling for the suck pitch.’ I also spoke with Johjima, who talked to me through interpreter Anthony Suzuki. ‘I’m not sure how much to blame I am,’ Johjima said ‘I think Jarrod has a problem with the signals – I know Jamie kept calling for the slider and he kept throwing the suck pitch instead.’”
stop calling for the suck pitch from the dugout. Give poor Jarrod a chance! How is supposed to score with teenagers if they watch him suck every time he pitches?
Game recap at 5:07?
You sure are on top of your stuff, Jeff, but where’s our WE chart?

Not soon enough.

I'm just surprised that excuse using motherfucker
didn’t use the fake limp to the dugout move after he got his ass
chased of the field.
Come on, Jarrod… you have a whole arsenal of excuses
to go to… You’ve only used the ‘Throw your Catcher Completely
Under the Bus’ one so far… but that doesn’t mean anything.

You know what
I bet Washburn will find a way to blame Johjima for this one too

Proof that he's worse than Silva
Even Sheffield managed to get a hit off of Wash to get out of his 0-for-ever slump.
ralphie81 - May 21, 2008
There was never any need to prove he was worse than Silva
Graham MacAree - May 21, 2008
True
Still nice of Jarrod to remind us of that though, after what happened yesterday and all.
ralphie81 - May 21, 2008
This is clearly
the catchers fault.. if he woudlnt have been there washburn woudlnt have been able to pitch
wadswerth - May 21, 2008
Like Casey Stengel said, you have to have a catcher.
Otherwise, you have too many passed balls.
eponymous_coward - May 21, 2008
Hey --
Just like in Field of Dreams—When everyone’s hitting like Shoeless Joe off ya, you really don’t need a catcher…
PositivePaul - May 21, 2008
Here here,
Time to blow this team up while we’re at it. That’s something I usually don’t say.
ThundaPC - May 21, 2008
BURN TEH TREE!!11!!11111!
eponymous_coward - May 21, 2008
I still like the idea
of trading him for the Worst Player in Baseball. Maybe he can resurrect his career in the NL.
PositivePaul - May 21, 2008
Excuse that I predict Washburn will use
“Coming in for relief on my throw day is screwing up my rhythm”
eponymous_coward - May 21, 2008
Other excuses I will predict:
“Hey, the cute 10th grader on the third base line distracted me”
eponymous_coward - May 21, 2008
"The Tigers had a pile of acorns in the dugout, and it made it hard for me to focus."
Thingray - May 21, 2008
I hope he avoids the media after the game
Jeff Sullivan - May 21, 2008
Hey Kenji,
stop calling for the suck pitch from the dugout. Give poor Jarrod a chance! How is supposed to score with teenagers if they watch him suck every time he pitches?
Thanks,
seattlebruin - May 21, 2008
Who wants to bet
We’ll score 7 runs in the last 3 innings again?
ralphie81 - May 21, 2008
So is anyone else looking forward to going through this with Silva for the next 3+ years?
What’s the o/u on number of catchers he throws under the bus? 1.5?
Sportszilla - May 21, 2008
NO MORE OVER/UNDERS
NONE, EVER
Jeff Sullivan - May 21, 2008
my bad
I didn’t really follow the dead meme thread
Sportszilla - May 21, 2008
Sorry, I'm unstable right now
too much Washburn hatred coarsing through my veins
Jeff Sullivan - May 21, 2008
i dont know why
he is a veteran lefty who has been through the wars
wadswerth - May 21, 2008
I'm unstable too
But that’s because of the JD coursing though my veins
Sportszilla - May 21, 2008
what about non-sequitir U/Os?
JI - May 21, 2008
hey
being a Mets fan sucks right now too
JohnPeterson - May 21, 2008
Mets: 22-22
You have nothing on us.
Jeff Sullivan - May 21, 2008
Another satisfied customer.
ThundaPC - May 21, 2008
Wins Pre-Ordered.
ThundaPC - May 21, 2008
So has there been a pitcher in history who hasn't had gone to the Joelle / Cryin' Ryan act
once their talent eroded away?
JI - May 21, 2008
Oh snap, Wash is getting all teary eyed in his postgame interview
OlSalty - May 21, 2008
Been done
Jeff Sullivan - May 21, 2008
Does this mean he's retiring?
JI - May 21, 2008
No, he's going to thrown suck pitches for the Yakult Swallows.
