Cha Seung Baek was just DFA’d.

at last
our crushing offensive problems at 1B and DH are solved!
wait.
Will Kier - May 21, 2008
Why?? He pitched well today
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
Honestly, I didn't see that coming
DIckey up, I’m assuming?
BrianL - May 21, 2008
I predict whoever picks him up will use him as a starter
and he will shut us out the first time he faces us.
marinator - May 21, 2008
At least everyone he hate sucked.
JI - May 21, 2008
*we
JI - May 21, 2008
Hahaha I love the quote.
So I guess Johjima isn’t the reason you suck, Wash. The reason you suck is because you fucking suck(asterisk)
(asterisk)Could be the 85 mph meatball, too
dbroncos31 - May 21, 2008
Mariners media questions for McLaren
Nothing mentioned about catcher compatability.
Someone mentioned how well Baek did for the team.
Nobody followed up with “why was he DFA’d then?”
The Typical Idiot Fan - May 21, 2008
It's kind of a typical Mariners decision.
Makes no sense. Similar case to that of Norton. Guy plays well, gets DFA’d…
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
Ooh... Washburn comments coming up
The Typical Idiot Fan - May 21, 2008
update us on what he says
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
Washburn is delusional.
But didn’t say anything of substance.
The Typical Idiot Fan - May 21, 2008
So nothing new, then.
BrianL - May 21, 2008
Nope.
Didn’t blame anybody, at least. Seemed to be bewildered that his “good stuff” was being hit. Nobody asked him about Johjima vs Burke.
Said he wanted to stay in and eat innings, at the very least. McLaren said no.
Said he watched some video and the Tigers were hitting balls, not strikes. Judging by the Gameday shots up on USSM, that’s partially true, but partially false.
Said that all the pitchers are going through a streaky bad phase.
In other words, still not admitting he sucks, but at least he’s not throwing around the blame.
The Typical Idiot Fan - May 21, 2008
An 85-87 MPH fastball is hittable even on the inside corner.
BrianL - May 21, 2008
Like I said
He’s delusional.
The Typical Idiot Fan - May 21, 2008
Chris Young just took a Pujols line drive to the face.
JI - May 21, 2008
wow.
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
I'm pretty sure he's alive.
JI - May 21, 2008
I figured it couldnt be that bad
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
I dunno, that's the one thing in baseball that could seriously kill a guy.
JI - May 21, 2008
I was at the infamous Soriano game in 06.
I thought I was going to throw up after that liner hit him.
BrianL - May 21, 2008
Jesus Christ
How bad is it?
BrianL - May 21, 2008
Not as bad as you might think
but it’s not good
JI - May 21, 2008
They didn't have to carry him off on a stretcher.
JI - May 21, 2008
As long as it isn't Brice Florey bad.
Just tuned in, lordy Pujols looks horrified.
BrianL - May 21, 2008
...and a smooth transisition into the pastor Mike pepsi commercial.
JI - May 21, 2008
Jake Peavy's out with a bad elbow
Chris Young isn’t that subtle
Jeff Sullivan - May 21, 2008
worst team in the majors with those two injured?
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
Depends on severity
Jeff Sullivan - May 21, 2008
Check back later.
JI - May 21, 2008
Just watched the replay a few times.
Looks like he got it right on the bridge of the nose. There was blood coming out . . . not crazy bad, but I imagine a DL stint is likely.
Teej - May 21, 2008
They'll have to wait to see if he has a concussion or some other complication.
JI - May 21, 2008
Lol I imagine there would be some blood.
haaaaaaaa
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
Washburn evaded about four line drives today.
ThundaPC - May 21, 2008
I have him first in the death pool.
JI - May 21, 2008
Holy crap NL West teams - except Arizona of course - suck
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
And Arizona is just mediocre on the road.
Goose - May 21, 2008
They are such an awesome team
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
They're not being awesome right now.
Goose - May 21, 2008
It'll come.
JI - May 21, 2008
Awesome to watch
They have so much great young talent. Lots of speed, contact.
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
Contact? What team are you watching?
They strike out like it’s going out of style.
Goose - May 21, 2008
Okay I totally take that back, I know pretty much nothing
I’ve watched parts of two games, and I don’t remember seeing a lot of Ks. So I really know very little.
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
Now Pujols severely injures Bard.
Motherfucker doesn’t fuck around.
JI - May 21, 2008
Vasgerian
“That’s not the way the human leg is supposed to go.”
JI - May 21, 2008
He's out to win a pennant by himself.
Though he should probably worry about teams other than the Padres first.
Teej - May 21, 2008
JI - May 21, 2008
I like this one for two reasons
1) That’s what my handwriting would look like if I were 6 years old.
2) I found the lone black man in St. Louis.
JI - May 21, 2008
That's what my handwriting looks like now
on a good day
Mariner John - May 21, 2008
Goose - May 21, 2008
Good lord, you serious?
I need to be watching this game.
Jeff Sullivan - May 21, 2008
Pujols' WPA for that inning has to be
something like 3.405
JI - May 21, 2008
Over/under on when the Mariners take down the "Mojo Risin' " logo from the website
30 days.
Teej - May 21, 2008
I don't see why they would take it down
It’s just their season motto, and all of their commercials have it.
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
Although they should take it down, because it is awful
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
Yeah, I just figure it's going to be embarrassing when July rolls around and they're 17 games out.
Teej - May 21, 2008
Well by that point it's embarassing enough as it is, motto or no motto
vkut79 - May 21, 2008
Great Futurama reference!
Smegmalicious - May 21, 2008
Futurama?
That was straight up classic Simpsons.
Jeff Sullivan - May 21, 2008
Damnit.
There’s a very similar Futurama quote when Farnsworth and Hermes’ kids get a hold of the machine that can make anyone sound like the professor.
The episode is The Route of All Evil. But yes, I suck.
Smegmalicious - May 22, 2008
Fail.
BrianL - May 21, 2008
You can always tell.
Simpsons = butt
Futurama = ass
Easy.
The Typical Idiot Fan - May 22, 2008
Who
is the monster?
the claw - May 21, 2008
Good to know that Mel Stottlemyre is on top of the situation (and not delusional, say)
Alex B - May 22, 2008
And I'm one good fan letter from dating Jessica Alba
I really believe that.
thewyrm - May 22, 2008
She's damaged goods.
You don’t want that shit.
Plus, she has herpes.
Phil Hatzenbuehler - May 22, 2008
Washburn's next scheduled outing is on the 26th vs. Boston
I know that rooting for the Red Sox is generally non grata round here but I for one would love to see them pound that fucker until his arm falls off.
Give the bullpen the day off and hang Wash out to dry, pitch counts be damned.
Alex B - May 22, 2008
Washburn is doomed.
John Hickey article written before yesterday’s Detroit game:
Tough 4 starts ahead for Washburn
(Lefty to face Tigers, Red Sox twice each after 9-day hiatus)
ThundaPC - May 22, 2008
He's gonna get Sele'd
Gomez - May 22, 2008
I only wish it were in Fenway.
Bad lefties in Fenway is always entertaining.
Llewdor - May 22, 2008
I had a burger and a Hale's at De Luxe
came home at 8, passed right out and didn’t wake up until 6 this morning.
Apparently, it’s a good thing I did.
