I thought about holding off until tomorrow, and then I realized that I would have little to no time tomorrow, plus I had time tonight, so might as well get in there and get it done.
Some of these games were over quickly. A salvo of 1st inning runs was enough to finish off the T-Rats and VSLMs. The Mavs waited a while but eventually pounded Inland Empire into submission. Rich Dorman pounded Chattanooga into submission while I give passing mention to an interesting contest in Tacoma that deserves and will receive more discussion later, but it's late and I've got to get to bed soon.
On to the wrap-up!

VENEZUELA~! VSL Cardinals 4, VSL Mariners 2
VSLMs: 5-5... VSL Cards: 6-3
Kervin Montbrum: two outs, 4 H, 4 ER, 3 walks, K
Nolan Diaz: 5.1 IP, 3 H, 2 K
Johalbi Chourio: 3 IP, 2 H, K, hit batter
Yidid Batista: 3-4
Jorge Agudelo: 1-4, RBI, K
Rigoberto Rangel: 2-4, double, R
Reginald Lampe: 1-3, double, 2 K
Mario Yepez: pinch RBI double
The Cardinales got all 4 of their runs in the 1st, blitzing Kervin Montbrum and chasing him quickly from the game. To his credit, Nolan Diaz pitched fine shutout ball through the 6th to save the bullpen. Johalbi Chourio also saved the bullpen by taking over in the 7th and finishing the game. The offense, however, could not stage much of a rally.
A: Cedar Rapids 6, Wisconsin 0
WIS: 20-23... CED: 21-25
Nathan Adcock: 2 IP, 4 H, 4 ER (HR), 2 walks, 4 K, 2 wild pitches, 2 hit batters (9 GS, 3.47 ERA, 49.1 IP, 3 HR, 20/50 BB/K)
Walter Suriel: 3 IP, 5 H, (2 R) 1 ER, 2 K (5 app, 9.00 ERA, 8 IP, 1 HR, 8/7 BB/K)
Jose Escalona: 2 IP, walk, 3 K (5 app, 1.93 ERA, 4.2 IP, 3/4 BB/K)
Travis Mortimore: 1 IP, K (14 app, 0.59 ERA, 15.1 IP, 6/13 BB/K)
Edilio Colina: 2-3, double (317/376/417)
Denny Almonte: 2-3, K
rest of T-Rats lineup: 1-25, 2 walks, 4 K
Nathan Adcock never had it from the start, and after a 4-run disaster inning in the 1st, and narrowly escaping trouble in the 2nd after two walks, a wild pitch and a hit batter, Adcock was done after only two innings. No word on whether he was hurt or if this was just a bleh night.
Either way, the T-Rats had no answer for lefthander Robert Fish (10 GS, 5.50 ERA, 52.1 IP, 5 HR, 25/52 BB/K), who threw 7 shutout innings in his best start in a month.
A+: High Desert 9, Inland Empire 2
Mavs: 20-26... Empire: 19-27
(updated stat lines will get filled in tomorrow as MiLB has yet to update stats for the night for late games)
Alfredo Venegas: 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 3 walks, 8 K, wild pitch
Steve Uhlmansiek: 1 IP, walk, K
Aaron Cotter: 1.1 IP, K
Julio Santiago: two outs, 1 H, walk, 2 K
Austin Bibens-Dirkx: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 K
Kuo Hui Lo: 2-5, triple, 3 RBI, 3 K
Matt Mangini: 2-4, 2 R, K
Carlos Peguero: 0-3, sac fly RBI, 2 K
Chris Minaker: 2-3, 2 doubles, 2 R, walk
Greg Halman: 0-3, sac fly RBI, 2 K
Erick Monzon: 2-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, K
Jose Yepez: 2-3, R, RBI, walk
This game was locked at 1 until the Mavs blew it open in the 6th. Matt Mangini led off with a single. With one out, Chris Minaker doubled, and Greg Halman sac flied Mangini in to give the Mavs a 2-1 lead. Erick Monzon singled to cahs in Minaker, 3-1. Jose Yepez singled to put runners at the corners, and Leury "Latin Campaneris" Bonilla Watch: back in RF, Leury came up here and drew a walk to load the bases... for Kuo Hui Lo... who tripled to right to clear the bags and make it 6-1 Mavs.
The Mavs added more severe run damage in the 7th. Mangini led off by getting plunked and, once again with one out, Chris Minaker doubled. With two outs, Erick Monzon singled to cash in both runners and make it 8-1. Jose Yepez singled to right, and Monzon impressed by scoring all the way from 1st to make it 9-1.
AA: West Tenn 4, Chattanooga 1
WTN: 30-17... CHA: 24-23
Rich Dorman: CG, 3 H, (1 R) 0 ER, walk, 10 K (10 GS, 2.23 ERA, 64.2 IP, 4 HR, 20/54 BB/K)
Michael Saunders: 1-4, solo HR, 2 K (310/370/511)
Adam Moore: 1-3, double, walk, K (283/366/428)
Johan Limonta: 1-4, triple, R, 2 K (302/392/558)
Mike Wilson: 1-3, sac fly RBI, 2 K (243/339/514)
Luis Oliveros (DH): 3-4, R (455/483/545)
Brent Johnson: 2-4, 2 run HR
Mark Kiger: 1-3, double, K (194/335/277)
The obvious story from this is Rich Dorman pitching his 2nd complete game of the season, while threading the needle against the Chattanooga Lookouts. He wa sdominant at points, but gave up enough liners and flyballs to present himself as someone beatable. The Lookouts just never got anything going... except for the only run he allowed. It came in the only inning he got in any real trouble in, the 8th, and that run came on Adam Moore's 14th passed ball of the season with two outs and men on 2nd and 3rd after back to back line drive hits to start the inning. Dorman was about to get out of the jam without a run.
Groundballs: 8
Flyballs: 6
Line Drives: 5
Pop Ups: 1
Walks: 1
Strikeouts: 10
AAA: Las Vegas 7, Tacoma 4
TAC: 23-22... LVG: 23-23
(again stat lines will go up tomorrow once current stats are updated)
Joe Woerman: 3 IP, 6 H, (4 R) 3 ER, walk
Scott Shoemaker: 4 IP, 2 H, 1 ER (HR), walk, K
Tracy Thorpe: 1 IP, walk, K, hit batter, 1 cleared catering spread
Jon Huber: 1 IP, 2 H, (2 R) 1 ER, K
Tug Hulett: 1-5, double, 2 RBI, 2 K
Jeff Clement: 2-5, solo HR, K
Victor Diaz: 1-5, double, K
Shawn Garrett: 2-3, RBI, K
Oswaldo Navarro: 1-4, double, R, 2 K
Numbers and a recap will have to wait until tomorrow due to time and upload turnaround... but can you believe that Joe Woerman's ERA actually went DOWN after this outing? Yeah, 13.29 is lower than 14.00.

Clement back to destroying AAA pitching.
World goes round.
The Typical Idiot Fan - May 23, 2008
3 games with HR in a row now
Graham MacAree - May 23, 2008
Surely Cincinnati can't say no for much longer.
Alex B - May 23, 2008
I want my Clement jersey to get here before he gets traded, dammit.
Graham MacAree - May 23, 2008
Why are the official jerseys so expensive?
They make football shirts seems reasonably priced.
Alex B - May 23, 2008
I hate this team. . .
thewyrm - May 23, 2008
We get an extra year of team control over Clement because of this
be happy. He’ll be back before too long.
Jeff Sullivan - May 23, 2008
You mean Cincinatti gets an extra year of Clement because of this :(
seattlebruin - May 23, 2008
*The Reds gets an extra year
patsfan - May 23, 2008
Shit!
patsfan - May 23, 2008
Oh well, he's got a slow bat
Graham MacAree - May 23, 2008
It's OK to hurt, Graham
we all saw what happened to Jeff when Ben got traded
seattlebruin - May 23, 2008
Jeff Clement, traffic policeman
Alex B - May 23, 2008
Victory!
seattlebruin - May 23, 2008
Don't worry, buddy
Vidro’s hitting .208/.254/.304, for an OPS+ of 54!
I don’t know what more you could want from a DH (if you’re trying to get everyone fired)!
Jordan of Boise - May 23, 2008
That stat-line is legendary
Vidro has a better chance of being elected to the Hall of Fame than Tino and Boone combined
JoeyJoJoJuniorShabadoo - May 23, 2008
Michael Saunders..wooot
kentroyals5 - May 23, 2008
Is Adam Moore that bad defensively?
I had it in my head that he was a good defensive catcher.
Thingray - May 23, 2008
He's got good fundamental skills
He just keeps making random in-game mistakes frequently enough to wonder about his concentration.
Gomez - May 23, 2008
That seems like a pretty major issue for a catcher.
Thingray - May 23, 2008
I'll admit that's just a guess
14 passed balls in less than two months is bad, though. And the DIAMOND JAXX pitching staff isn’t known for getting great movement on their stuff.
Gomez - May 23, 2008
Over a passed ball a week is horrible.
Sounds like Roger Hansen needs to pay him a visit (I hope I got that name right).
Thingray - May 23, 2008
He already has
The more I watch Rob Johnson struggle, or Miguel Olivo, or [fill in M’s catcher of your choice], the more I wonder how awesome Mr. Hansen actually is.
Hey, it’s a tough business, and teaching catching skills probably is one of the tougher things to do in baseball. I actually think Clement’s gotten better, too. But the track record is… not inspiring.
marc w - May 23, 2008
What is his claim to fame anyway?
Did he develop some great catcher along the way?
Thingray - May 23, 2008
Jason Varitek
marc w - May 23, 2008
Yeah, coaches' reps are often based on honing a star player
For example, Pentland = Sammy Sosa
