The Mariner front office can't evaluate hitters. They love to stock up on aggressive, free-swinging types who put the ball in play and rarely walk, seemingly ignorant of the fact that the most important things a guy can do at the plate are get on base and hit for power.

The Mariner front office can't evaluate pitchers. They have zero understanding of replacement level, they put too much stock in ERA, and they buy into labels like "proven winner" and "innings eater" instead of trying to figure out what a guy can provide to the team with his actual performance.

The Mariner front office can't evaluate defense. Raul Ibanez is the everyday left fielder.

Our only source of happiness at the moment is the hope that sometime down the road there'll be people in the front office who are the complete and utter opposite of the people in there now.

Is that unhealthy? I think that's unhealthy.

Although, I suppose it would be more unhealthy to delude myself into believing that this organization will ever accomplish anything the way it is currently constructed.

Back before the start of the 05 season

We had Howard and Chuck speak at the the stadium employee orientation and they told all of us that :

“People dont go to games to watch their teams win, they go to have fun. People dont remember the final score of of their first ballgame but they remember how much fun it was to meet the moose and watch the hydros. And that’s the lasting memory that we want to give them”

I just about put a bullet in his ape head.

At the start of '05 they thought the losing of 2004 was a

thing of the past.

I’m hoping that after so many losing seasons since then, they’ve started to change their paradigm.

I knew a ballgirl who not only Yuni hit on (or should I say, asked out), but also some of the players spread rumors about having sex with her and that threatened her job security. I mean who are they going to believe, the FOF or a easily-replaceable ball girl? I think she said she never wanted to work there again after the experience.
