This wrap-up's gonna be so quick and dirty your mom's gonna be impressed.
On to the wrap-up!

VENEZUELA~! VSL Mariners 7, VSL Tigers 3
VSLMs: 7-7... VSL Tigres: 1-13
Jessie Nava: 4 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 walks, 2 K, 3 wild pitches, 2 hit batters
Yoervis Medina: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, walk, 3 K, wild pitch
Manuel Campos: 1 IP, 2 K
Carlos Ramirez: 1-4, double, K
Jorge Agudelo: 1-5, R, 3 RBI, walk
Rigoberto Rangel: 2-5, double, 2 RBI, K
Michael Acevedo: 3-4, 2 run HR
The VSLMs, trailing 3-1, tied this game in the top 8th when, after Mario Yepez became one of the SIX VSLMs hit by a pitch in this game, Michael Acevedo crapped all over some Tigre's suck pitch to tie the ballgame.
They blew it open in the top 10th, with Jorge Agudelo singling with the bases loaded and two out to cash in two, and Rigoberto Rangel doubling to cash in two more. Needless to say, the worst team in the VSL had no answer in the bottom 10th.
A: Wisconsin 2, Kane County 1
WIS: 22-27... KC: 31-21
Phillipe Aumont: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 walks, 6 K, hit batter (10 app, 4 GS, 1.50 ERA, 36 IP, 2 HR, 11/35 BB/K)
Ryan Moorer: 2 IP, 2 H, 2 K (16 app, 2.89 ERA, 18.2 IP, 1 HR, 8/16 BB/K)
Justin Souza: two outs, 2 H, 1 ER, K (16 app, 3.80 ERA, 21.1 IP, 1 HR, 6/19 BB/K)
Jose Escalona: one out, K (7 app, 1.42 ERA, 6.1 IP, 3/7 BB/K)
Keith Meyer: 1 IP, 2 K (13 app, 3.05 ERA, 20.2 IP, 2 HR, 9/22 BB/K)
Juan Diaz: 1-3, 2 RBI (235/286/301)
rest of T-Rats lineup: 3-26, 2 R, walk, 9 K
Aumont did load the bases in the 3rd but got out that jam and had no trouble otherwise.
Groundballs: 5
Flyballs: 4
Line Drives: 2
Pop Ups: 1
Walks: 2 (plus 1 hit batter)
Strikeouts: 6
Scott Mitchinson (9 GS, 1.49 ERA, 54.1 IP, 1 HR, 7/55 BB/K) pitched as well as you'd expect him to, with his only run allowed being unearned, but Phillipe Aumont had a fine rebound effort, shutting out the Cougars over 5 innings, and the T-Rats got one heck of a bullpen relay, as save for Bad Souza, the rest of the bullpen put on the clamps and held a 2-1 lead. Juan Diaz knocke din both T-Rats runs, one in the 6th and the other in the 8th.
A+: High Desert 4, Stockton 1
Mavs: 25-29... Ports: 31-22
Keith Renaud: 5.1 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 2 walks, 3 K, hit batter (10 GS +1, 6.26 ERA, 54.2 IP, 7 HR, 40/29 BB/K)
Julio Santiago: 1.2 IP, 2 K (16 app, 2.31 ERA, 23.1 IP, 14/23 BB/K)
Aaron Cotter: 1 IP, 1 H, K (21 app, 3.46 ERA, 26 IP, 3 HR, 6/23 BB/K)
Shawn Kelley: 1 IP, 3 K (10 app, 0.00 ERA, 9 IP, 2/9 BB/K)
Tyson Gillies: 1-4, triple, R, K
Carlos Triunfel: 0-3, sac fly RBI, 2 K (273/317/347)
Carlos Peguero: 1-4, RBI, 3 K (288/309/452)
Greg Halman: 1-3, solo HR, K (271/324/578)
Jamie McOwen: 1-3, solo HR (242/311/337)
I'd say Keith Renaud is acquitting himself nicely, wouldn't you?
Groundballs: 7
Flyballs: 7
Line Drives: 2
Walks: 2 (plus 1 hit batter)
Strikeouts: 3
Aaron Cotter is a workhorse, and has also acquitted himself, in this case from a rocky 2007. There may be a future out of the bullpen for this kid.
AA: Mississippi 7, West Tenn 2
WTN: 33-21... MIS: 22-32
Justin Thomas: 4.1 IP, 8 H, 6 ER (2 HR), walk, 5 K, 2 wild pitches (9 GS +1, 5.30 ERA, 56 IP, 7 HR, 26/54 BB/K)
Roman Martinez: two outs (14 app, 6.19 ERA, 16 IP, 1 HR, 7/16 BB/K)
Marwin Vega: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, walk, wild pitch (15 app, 6.21 ERA, 29 IP, 2 HR, 24/16 BB/K)
Jason Mackintosh: 2 IP (18 app, 3.38 ERA, 21.1 IP, 5/13 BB/K)
Brent Johnson: 1-3, double, RBI, walk, K
Michael Saunders: 1-4, double, RBI (300/365/495)
Johan Limonta: 1-3, double, K (284/380/478)
Jeff Dominguez: 2-3, double, 2 R, walk (217/280/283)
Justin Thomas got rocked for 4 runs in the 1st (in which he threw 2 wild pitches), and he and the DIAMOND JAXX never quite recovered.
Groundballs: 8
Flyballs: 5 (2 HR)
Line Drives: 3
Walks: 1
Strikeouts: 5
AAA: Fresno 5, Tacoma 4
TAC: 26-27... FRE: 26-27
Robert Rohrbaugh: 6 IP, 7 H, (4 R) 3 ER, 2 walks, 8 K, hit batter (10 GS, 6.06 ERA, 52 IP, 2 HR, 21/37 BB/K)
Scott Shoemaker: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, walk (12 app, 2.78 ERA, 22.2 IP, 3 HR, 10/18 BB/K)
Jared "Baek Bait" Wells: 1 IP, 1 H (20 app, 5.57 ERA, 21 IP, 1 HR, 12/14 BB/K)
Shawn Garrett: 1-3, solo HR, walk (291/319/488)
Victor Diaz: 1-4, solo HR, 3 K (289/392/479)
Rob Johnson: 2-3, R, walk, K (239/303/302)
Prentice Redman: 1-4, double, R, K
Oswaldo Navarro: 1-4, double, 2 RBI, K (279/366/364)
As good as Robert Rohrbaugh looked last year in Tacoma, he has looked as bad with the Rainiers in 2007. After Brian Bocock... yes, Brian Bocock... bunted himself on in the 1st, he stole 2nd, and Scott McClain doubled him in to make it 1-0. Nate Schierholtz singled to cash McClain in and made it 2-0.
The Rainiers blew up in the 4th when Shawn Garrett and Victor Diaz went back to back yard to tie the ballgame, and doubles by Prentice Redman and Oswaldo Navarro cashed in two more runs to make it 4-2.
The Grizzlies quickly loaded the bases with the first 3 batters in the 6th, and Rohrbaugh plunked Schierholtz to force in a run. Brian Horwitz's groundout brought in another run and tied the ballgame. Rohrbaugh got out of the inning but it was the last inning he worked.
Groundballs: 6 (plus 1 bunt by Brian freaking Bocock)
Flyballs: 5
Line Drives: 2
Pop Ups: 1
Walks: 2 (plus 1 hit batter)
Strikeouts: 8
Scott Shoemaker walked Eugenio Velez to lead off the 7th. Bocock, as you'd guess, bunted him over. Velez stole 3rd base with two out, then Scott McClain singled him in to give the Grizzlies the lead for good. The Rainiers did load the bases with two outs in the 8th, but Prentice Redman grounded out to 1st to end the threat. And to add insult, Wife Vulture came in and closed out the ballgame without incident in the 9th.

It looks like AA has killed what slight ray of hope Jeff Dominguez had of reaching the bigs
chinn - May 30, 2008
I think Dominguez had more to do with that than AA did
Gomez - May 30, 2008
AA sure hasn't hurt Valbuena
22 years old …. plays second… slugging .458…. OBP of .377 19bb/25k
He’s definitely been a surprise this year.

Not out of nowhere
His OPS in Wisconsin is really rather impressive, given the context.
Also, he was victimized by a horrendous start last year (though it’s true he never really got it going in a sustained way). It’s also nice to see improvement in his BB rate for three straight years.
On the down side, I still think something weird’s going on with that park, as he’s still got a road wOBA under .300. He had these fairly extreme splits last year too, though this year he’s gone off to such a degree at home that it makes his whole line look amazing.
Still, it’s nice to see him back on the radar after a couple of down years. I was really high on his power potential after 2005, but this was before I really understood how weird Everett Memorial stadium is…..

Dare I say
...A Lopez replacement?
Edgar for Mayor - May 30, 2008
No
No no no no no no no no no no no no no no
Jose Lopez isn’t going anywhere except the All-Star game and perhaps Cooperstown
seattlebruin - May 30, 2008
He's at least a few years out I would think.
He’s made strides, but he needs to sustain it, plus he has some really weird home/road stats going on that need to be ironed out as well.
Thingray - May 30, 2008
Get the fuck out
Last Fan Of Jose Lopez - May 30, 2008
Churchill says he's put himself on the map this year
and also calls him a lefthanded Lopez… which would negate one of Lopez’s disadvantages if he were to make it this far.
Gomez - May 30, 2008
Er... implies he's a lefthanded Lopez
I gotta be careful with the syntax there ;P
