I don’t know why. I just have a hunch he was like some secret ingredient for Seattle’s almost (and most likely lucky) success last season. Plus he could hit.
Sorry, this is the highlight of my Mariners related day…
Hey Keith,
I’ve familiar with your opinion on Jeff Clement, but how high do you think the ceiling is for Wladimir Balentien?
By keith on May 3, 2008
Frosty: Yes, Balentien should be better than what Wilkerson gave Seattle. (Although color me confused at where Wilkerson’s power from just a few years ago has gone.) He’s not better than Jones, but he has above-average raw power and some willingness to work the count.
On the other hand, Guzman has actually been a pretty damn good SS over the last two years. His 2005 was so awful that people just stopped paying attention to him. But once he got lasik surgery and got past his injuries he’s been slapping the fuck out of the ball.
I actually watched the movie in 3 parts over a 6 month period because it was ridiculously bad. And it helped I happened to turn the TV on at the right time to accomplish this feat.
I’m even more amazed that some commentators don’t even know the names of other teams’ stadiums. You’re presumably interested in baseball AND it’s your job to talk about it: do some flamin’ research!
Either the Cleveland or the Baltimore team was really bad for this, can’t remember which.

that you got because you had to kill the pain the night before from a hernia surgery.
Jeff, you might want to consider going on a writer's strike until this team scores more than 2 runs in back-to-back games. They must also win those said games.
Rodriguez SS —Bell 2B -—-Jackson PH Griffey CF —Monahan LF Blowers DH, 3B Wilson C Timmons RF Ibanez 1B (HEY HE CAN DO IT) Hunter LF, CF Bournigal 2B, SS, 2B Gipson 3B, SS
He tied for the second worst lead off hitter since 1957 in a Hardball Times article on the worst lead off hitters for a single season. Stolen bases are awesome.

seattlebruin - May 3, 2008
Beltre's been unlucky?

BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
Beltre's unlucky that he's stuck playing for the Mariners, not in his hitting

If he is so good, why can’t he play through injuries?
Wilder. - May 3, 2008
Good eye Clement.
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
Way to work 0-2 back to full
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
Pentland hasn't ironed that habit out of him yet
Alex B - May 3, 2008
Only to strikeout.
:-/
Wilder. - May 3, 2008
well, that sucked
Matthew - May 3, 2008
That was right down the fucking middle!
Why can’t anyone hit anything ever?
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
Dude, that was a 10 pitch at bat
Frosty Raptor - May 3, 2008
And he missed the meatiest pitch. I love Clement but that's annoying.
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
Just setting up the Wlad! grand slam
Robert - May 3, 2008
Thought I was gonna last the whole game, but nope.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Goose - May 3, 2008
That was an AK conclusion to a James Joyce at bat
Jeff Sullivan - May 3, 2008
Way to go for that one, Richie.
It’s 2-0. You don’t HAVE to swing.
AtomicGarden - May 3, 2008
i'd say take
but who cares
Matthew - May 3, 2008
at least there were 2 outs
although I’ve stopped keeping track of double plays we’ve hit into.
AtomicGarden - May 3, 2008
Is their a disease going around in the clubhouse that saps offensive production?
Wilder. - May 3, 2008
Sucking
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
Seriously has a Mariner pitcher ever NOT swung 3-1?
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
Hitter
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
same thing
Robert - May 3, 2008
They both wear matching shirts and pants.
At least until you invent pantyball
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
Give me a few more minutes
Robert - May 3, 2008
Hey Richie you are bad
Jeff Sullivan - May 3, 2008
Wah wah wah
Big Asshole
Jordan of Boise - May 3, 2008
i hope richie does something terrible with his mother
Robert - May 3, 2008
I hope Cory Lidle comes back from the dead, mistakes Richie for a skyscraper and crashes a plane into him
Jordan of Boise - May 3, 2008
ahahah
Wilder. - May 3, 2008
heee
Jeff Sullivan - May 3, 2008
Obviously a big RRS fan
But no way near cool enough to carry it off.
Alex B - May 3, 2008
He looks like a chemist with a hat
Jeff Sullivan - May 3, 2008
Hehe
Alex B - May 3, 2008
Fuck this, I'm watching LAA host VIS.
Wait, Fox, who the fuck is VIS?
AtomicGarden - May 3, 2008
VIS nuts!
Jordan of Boise - May 3, 2008
Well played
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
Is it too early to call up Carlos Triunfel?
Sure, it could set his development back a few years…
Frosty Raptor - May 3, 2008
this game is like
listening to your ex girlfriend whine at you all day, while trying to watch american idol, and having eric clapton records playing on repeat in the background.
while nursing a hangover.
that you got because you had to kill the pain the night before from a hernia surgery.
lyleleander - May 3, 2008
Seems tame.
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
I'd say it's more like that part in The Rock where the guy gets the ball of gas put in his mouth and then Nicolas Cage punches him
Jeff Sullivan - May 3, 2008
The worst part is having nick cage touching you
Robert - May 3, 2008
He got some prize ass in that movie
that’s how I know it’s a movie
Jeff Sullivan - May 3, 2008
I find it preferable to listening to Steven Segal's closing environmentalism lecture in On Deadly Ground
Frosty Raptor - May 3, 2008
Who had more grit on that play?
Wlad or Jeter?
mark sobba - May 3, 2008
Jeff, you might want to consider going on a writer's strike until this team scores more than 2 runs in back-to-back games. They must also win those said games.
Wilder. - May 3, 2008
I don't want LL to go away :(
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
LL will remain, but it will strictly be a support group.
Wilder. - May 3, 2008
Jeff, please ignore.
Alex B - May 3, 2008
Did he just say "Meatpacking"?
Jeff Sullivan - May 3, 2008
He sure did
Alex B - May 3, 2008
I don't want to go clubbing with Michael Kay
Jeff Sullivan - May 3, 2008
the worst part is...
i’m gonna wake up tomorrow morning and do this to myself again. what a fucking joke.
lyleleander - May 3, 2008
Me too :(
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
I hate Kenji Johjima so much.
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
lets go kenji!
ninth inning rall—nevermind
AtomicGarden - May 3, 2008
gotta hustle
uhhh, no, it’s Johjima.
Matthew - May 3, 2008
It's a gorgeous day outside
thank god
Jeff Sullivan - May 3, 2008
Fittingly pouring rain here.
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
Wilder. - May 3, 2008
I like it
Jeff Sullivan - May 3, 2008
I forgot the tag.
It went something along the lines of “Ichiro calling upon his superpowers to get Ibanez the fuck away from the ball.”
Wilder. - May 3, 2008
I actually prefer that there is no caption
Jeff Sullivan - May 3, 2008
Frosty Raptor - May 3, 2008
It would still bounce off the tip of Bretts glove
Robert - May 3, 2008
:(
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
even better than the original

mark sobba - May 3, 2008
just have wacky lineup day tomorrow
pick guys out of a hat and go with that.
Matthew - May 3, 2008
Lou did that during the last game of 99
Robert - May 3, 2008
Dan Wilson batting cleanup
I remember that.
Matthew - May 3, 2008
It looked like this
Rodriguez SS
—Bell 2B
-—-Jackson PH
Griffey CF
—Monahan LF
Blowers DH, 3B
Wilson C
Timmons RF
Ibanez 1B (HEY HE CAN DO IT)
Hunter LF, CF
Bournigal 2B, SS, 2B
Gipson 3B, SS
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
Heh, Brian Hunter
He tied for the second worst lead off hitter since 1957 in a Hardball Times article on the worst lead off hitters for a single season. Stolen bases are awesome.
Frosty Raptor - May 3, 2008
Can we put Barry Bonds' name in the hat?
BrettJMiller - May 3, 2008
And only Barry Bonds' name in the hat
Jeff Sullivan - May 3, 2008
maybe we should start giving our pitchers a chance to hit
they couldn’t really do that much worse…
AtomicGarden - May 3, 2008
well this was fun
AtomicGarden - May 3, 2008
1-2 punch vs. Mister Sinker and Captain Contact: owned
Jeff Sullivan - May 3, 2008
1-2 cockpunch more like
Alex B - May 3, 2008
