Remaining in the spirit of positivity, Brandon Morrow is very quickly turning into the kind of player I'd pay good money to watch. And I guess Felix is okay too.

I can't believe Joh actually stole home.
Coach Owens - May 31, 2008
So how good did Felix look today?
All I saw was the liner hit right back at him.
BrianL - May 31, 2008
It would appear that he looked fairly good
Jeff Sullivan - May 31, 2008
Awesome.
BrianL - May 31, 2008
Ugh.
Flyball Felix continues. :(
Phil Hatzenbuehler - May 31, 2008
whatever, he dominated
vkut79 - May 31, 2008
Manny hit #500 today, and Junior hit #599
Vitor is going to be dropping by more often
OlSalty - May 31, 2008
One more homer before Griffey is dumped on our porch.
BrianL - May 31, 2008
And Clement is gone.
Coach Owens - May 31, 2008
Whoops. >:(
Coach Owens - May 31, 2008
*fixed:
qrsouther - May 31, 2008
I can't remember if it was in Crasnick or Stark's chat this week...
But they stated that Griffey will veto any trade attempt to Seattle. I could dig it up if someone needs proof.
Frosty Raptor - May 31, 2008
Does he think he still has a few years left or something?
Otherwise that doesn’t make sense.
Coach Owens - May 31, 2008
I think his willingness to come here was predicated on Seattle being a contender
That’s just a guess, though.
Gomez - May 31, 2008
Hooray!
Instead of trading Clement for him, we’ll overpay for him in the offseason!
BrianL - May 31, 2008
That's an acceptable alternative
Katal LM - June 1, 2008
No, they didn't say he'd veto it.
They said it wouldn’t make sense for the Mariners to do it since they were out of contention
BrettJMiller - May 31, 2008
It wouldn't make sense if we
were in contention.
Coach Owens - May 31, 2008
Woah, I didn't mean to italicize "in contention".
Coach Owens - May 31, 2008
Took one too many Adderall pills tonight?
Susheel Ramasahayam - May 31, 2008
No drug abuse for Coach
qrsouther - May 31, 2008
I think he's ok with it, if it's a prescription drug.
Susheel Ramasahayam - May 31, 2008
My brother Sam had to take Adderall for a spell
He hated it.
Gomez - May 31, 2008
Yeah, expecto patronum is the worst
AHHHH see what I did there Gomez??
qrsouther - May 31, 2008

BrianL - May 31, 2008
So I guess that one was a loss for me
qrsouther - June 1, 2008
Used 4 capital H's in AHH?
Gomez - May 31, 2008
That a problem?
qrsouther - June 1, 2008
Majority tolerate it very well. It helps them out a lot.
If they don’t Concerta is a good alternative.
Susheel Ramasahayam - May 31, 2008
I love it
Changed my career around.
batura - June 1, 2008
Sall good.
I thought it was okay.
qrsouther - May 31, 2008
Yeah but we're talking about the mainstream media
BrettJMiller - May 31, 2008
Have either of them seen how this organization operates?
I mean, they live in a world where the Mets are apparently the worst team in baseball.
discovolante - May 31, 2008
Sounds like Felix was dealing
While it’s a damn shame that Morrow’s 100 mph heat in the 8th won’t become a reasonably located 95 mph heater fronting two breaking pitches in the rotation, I’m not going to complain about Morrow bringing electrifying unhitability to the 8th inning.
Discovery from post-softball meal: Anchor Stout and Boundary Bay Scotch Ale would be great beers by themselves. To have them back to back provided one of the best beer buzzes I’ve had in a while.
Oh, and Friday night’s Minor League Wrap-Up is now complete.
Gomez - May 31, 2008
Is it really that hard for someone who can throw a 100 mph fastball to throw a consistent 95 mph as a starter?
Joel Pinero in 2002 as a reliever topped out at 97. His FB was good(92-95) during his one good year of 2003 as a starter.
Susheel Ramasahayam - May 31, 2008
Also, Joel Pinero juiced so I guess my point is moot.
Susheel Ramasahayam - May 31, 2008
Not once they're stretched out
Every pitcher throws faster as a reliever going full-out for 10-20 pitches than they do over a 90-120 pitch effort.
My point wasn’t that Morrow can’t do it, because he certainly can, but that the Mariners won’t do it because they see his 100 mph heater blowing people away in the 8th and they go OOH.
Gomez - May 31, 2008
There is no point in letting Morrow throw in the bullpen
Unless they are going to stretch him out. This season is lost, why aren’t they trying to get the most value out of him while he’s still young?
Just let Lowe be the 8th inning guy. He’s not as explosive, but he needs to be groomed into that role anyway. Corcoran can come up and fill Morrow’s spot if they want to kick him back down to AAA. Or he can pitch long innings when either Washburn, Batista, or Silva go 5 or less and blow the game early which will happen many more times this season.
I realize watching him mow hitters down in exciting fashion is one of the only reasons to watch Mariner baseball this season, but priorities are priorities.
