This is more depression than anger. I saw a mediocre season coming (albeit not this bad) and was just hoping so much that I was just wrong and that Bavasi was right. We were right here on LL. But we were more right than we could imagine. This depresses me.
Statler: Well, Waldorf, they finally got the season under way. Waldorf: Yes, and I already bought tickets. Statler: Are they good seats? Waldorf: Sure are. They’re on the next train out of town.
Statler: I guess all’s well that ends well. Waldorf: I don’t care, as long as it ends.
Waldorf: How do they do it? Statler: How do we watch it? Waldorf: Why do we watch it? Statler: [to audience] Why do you watch it?
Waldorf: Eh, this team is good for what ails me. Statler: Well, what ails ya? Waldorf: Insomnia.
Statler: This team is awful! Waldorf: Terrible! Statler: Disgusting! Waldorf: See you next year? Statler: Of course.
I don’t even have another sport to distract myself from at this point – I could honestly care less who Arsenal are playing this weekend because it doesn’t matter.
but they don’t have Flamini anymore, and that means that next year will probably be silverware-free as well. Hleb’s got one foot out the door as well. Sigh. Arsenal are turning into the A’s – find ‘em young, sign ‘em cheap, let ‘em go when they get too expensive. Arsene Wenger has a lifetime of second chances and credibility with me, so I’ll never really agitate for his firing, but sigh.
My girlfriend is already walking around in Seahawks jerseys waiting for the season to start. I feel almost the same way, except I’m addicted to baseball so I’ll keep watching this trainwreck until the end.
that the team really isn’t that bad, and instead of being a ridiculous trainwreck the whole season, they’re going to regress to the mean a bit and wind up just being a shitty, boring, mediocre team.
I have my Seahawk stuff out but I’ll be watching to the end just to see how Wlad and Clement do. Plus my boss gave me tix for next Saturday’s game. Sec 133, row 28. How could I turn those down?
Yep.

So umm...well...uh....
Who are the top prospects in the 2009 MLB Draft?
SethGrandpa - May 9, 2008
Particularly Relievers and DHs, for realistic purposes.

Does this season allow us to have extended GTE?
eponymous_coward - May 9, 2008
Does GTE even exist when nobody cares?
Jeff Sullivan - May 9, 2008
Depends on whether anomie or ennui is an emotion.

I'm looking forward to GTGD

Hating your life is different from anger.

We need to have a funeral.
We can have a eulogy, links to YouTube video clips of remembrance, and a tombstone. Then we can all get drunk and move on with our summer.
Wilder. - May 9, 2008
Summer would necessitate warm weather.
And barring that bizarre saturday back in April, it’s bee freaking freezing here in PacNW.

Ha.
Nice.
CapSea - May 9, 2008
It wasn't fun while it lasted.
And I see USSM has officially thrown in the towel as well.
Goose - May 9, 2008
Historically this has been followed immediately by a winning streak.
I don’t see it happening this year.
Aaron Campeau - May 9, 2008
At least you still have Chelsea
I don’t even have another sport to distract myself from at this point – I could honestly care less who Arsenal are playing this weekend because it doesn’t matter.
pdb - May 9, 2008
That's the only thing keeping a smile on my face
As bad as this season has gone in Baseball, it was worse in basketball and, for much of the year, MUCH worse in soccer.
But Tottenham’s got silverware and Arsenal doesn’t. Let me cling to this small, relatively insignificant nugget of joy.
marc w - May 9, 2008
Not only don't they have silverware
but they don’t have Flamini anymore, and that means that next year will probably be silverware-free as well. Hleb’s got one foot out the door as well. Sigh. I look forward to fall, when football is in full swing,
and I can be an optimistic fan again of a competently run franchise.

Amen to that!!
