This thing was finished about half an hour after I got home and turned it on, so I can't exactly pretend to have any insight. As such, something more substantial and completely unrelated is in the works for a little later on.

Again...I'm gonna make the case that it was ok to enjoy the Wilkerson HR...
1. Irony is a bitch.
2. It’s not like we need wins at this point.
3. It was a crappy player we got rid of homering of a far worse player we’re stuck with for years.
4. Without Wilk we wouldn’t have had that squirrel image that’s one of my favorite (cue someone posting it, please!).
5. He was able to say “Fuck you” to the front office in a way we can only dream about.
6. I enjoy taking pleasure in Silva’s pain.
Side note: Why do the Mariners take Lopez out of the 2 hole when he’s producing near All-Star 2B numbers? It happened last time he was good and it’s happening again. I think we all remember the massive fail of the last attempt.

I wholly agree

Thank you so much. <3 The Squirrel

Looks more like Washburn to me.
BrianL - June 10, 2008
My thoughts exactly
Fin - June 10, 2008
Mutton Chops win ball games
Period.
Edgar for Mayor - June 10, 2008
Biggest Null: Raul Ibanez

Hey look
Greg Norton blasted a ball into deep left center. He may actually be better than Sexson at this point

May? At this point?

Carlo's W-L record went from 3-0 to 3-7
Hey now.
ThundaPC - June 10, 2008
At first I read that I thought it said Cairo's W-L record went from 3-0 to 3-7
Fin - June 10, 2008
Jeff: You mixed up the contributions from the pitchers and the position players
Last Fan Of Jose Lopez - June 10, 2008
Telling me that is Matthew's job
Jeff Sullivan - June 10, 2008
I retract my statement
You did perfect
Last Fan Of Jose Lopez - June 10, 2008
That's not automated?
Wow.
planB - June 10, 2008
Nothing about the WEC's is automated
Jeff Sullivan - June 10, 2008
Jeff draws them all by hand and scans them

According to Gameday, Jonathan Broxton just hit 101

Since this doesn't quite merit a 'Fanpost', here's how the Mariners have ranked in the AL in on-base percentage
2008 – 14th in OBP
2007 – 7th in OBP (fluketastic!)
2006 – 13th in OBP
2005 – 14th in OBP
2004 – 10th in OBP
2003 – 4th in OBP
2002 – 2nd in OBP
2001 – 1 in OBP
Basically, it’s been 4 years and they’ve been unable to find anything close to an adequate replacement for Edgar Martinez.
Nick S - June 10, 2008
Man that '01 team was good.
But that is one hell of an indictment. How do you fail to find a league-average DH? Come on, it can’t be that hard.
BrianL - June 10, 2008
We have one in LF.
JI - June 10, 2008
Designated Hitter.
We’re doing it wrong.
BrianL - June 10, 2008
I'm pretty sure that half the AL has a worse than league average
DH…

Our DH production was at one time
worse than the Diamondbacks’ pitchers.
JI - June 10, 2008
See...it's bad that I read that and went..."Oh that's not shocking."
SethGrandpa - June 10, 2008
Micah's in a slump.
Goose - June 11, 2008
Man Milton Bradley is tearing it.
Must have something to do with playing in Arlington.
Fin - June 10, 2008
Yep.
.388 / .504 / .837 in Arlington.
.295 / .411 / .457 elsewhere.
Not that he’s incredibly horrible outside of Texas, but his numbers in that retarded ballpark are pretty telling.
His overall .387 BABIP doesn’t hurt either.
The Typical Idiot Fan - June 10, 2008
25% line drives, tho
I guess that doesn’t hurt.
The Typical Idiot Fan - June 10, 2008
Even his road split look better than the DHs overall sats
Why does it seem that so many of the DHs are having off years this year?
Fin - June 10, 2008
offense down league wide is one part.
Matthew - June 10, 2008
Pitchers getting better or hitters getting worse?
Fin - June 10, 2008
[insert casual fan's steroid conspiracy theory here]
BrianL - June 10, 2008
Weiners getting bigger or hoo-ha's getting smaller?
The old cornundrum
Jordan of Boise - June 11, 2008
Ball dejuiced?
Llewdor - June 11, 2008
Since Gomez hasn't gotten around to the minor league update yet
I thought all of you would like to know that Carlos Triunfel hit his first professional home run today, and according to Churchill it was a very legit shot.
BrianL - June 10, 2008
Clement only hit a double.
What a vag.
Matthew - June 10, 2008
Slow bat speed, dontchaknow.
BrianL - June 10, 2008
not hitting a homer shows he still has a lot to learn in AAA
BeltredNOT - June 11, 2008
I hope that Jeff can teach me many more things this weekend.
