Sean White . . . Anderson Garcia . . . Jared Wells

Yesterday was a big day for the “He’s on the 40-man Roster?” All-Stars. It is too bad that Roy Corcoran, Tracy Thorpe, or Joe Woerman did not pitch.

Brent Johnson is putting up some numbers.

Is he anything special?

No, just a 26-year-old organizational soldier

His line in W. Tenn. has come in only 93 AB. He hit .291/.378/.408 there last year. He also had a cup of coffee with Tacoma earlier this year, and hit .063/.167/.083 in 48 AB.

No

you may recall his 2008 stint in Tacoma, when he hit .063 with an .083 slugging percentage….ah, crap, someone beat me to it.

I didn't remember that, but I can see why I forgot.

But hey, kudos to him for having 93 awesome AB’s.

Clement sucks

send him to Tennessee. 0-4 is a bunch of crap.

And a walk?

That’s not the “Mariner way”. Get rid of him.

Gomez

Do you have a slash line on Greg Halman?

.273/.326/.582
I like that Halman will provide us something interesting to talk about for the next three years
How we traded him for Tomko?
It's the Wlad Debates, take 2!
But like any sequel, it's bigger, louder, and more extreme!

Wlad, age 21, Inland Empire: 291/338/553, 6.1% BB%, 29.7% K%

Halman, age 20, High Desert: 273/326/582, 6.2% BB%, 27.4% K%

I think Halman will be more fun to talk about, as he has more tools, and I am encouraged by his performance so far this year, especially after his struggles in Wisconsin. But right now, and for the immediate future, I doubt anyone has a real good idea of how he will turn out.

*explosions*

I suppose it’s nice that Halman has more tools, but Wlad’s got the better performance record at this point, thanks to his (in hind sight) jaw-dropping performance in Wisconsin at age 19. Of course, if Halman stays in Adelanto and puts up 40 HRs or something, then he’ll really make this interesting.

But yeah, both struck out a ton, hit for power and lacked a decent approach at the plate, which makes sense given where these two came from. We’ll see if Halman can make that leap in BB rate/recognition that Wlad was able to make, and if it’s accompanied by the growing pains Wlad experienced in AA.

I keep hoping Peguero inserts himself into this conversation too, by the way. Still waiting….

Halman is very interesting to watch this year.

He definitely is one of my favorite low level prospects to watch this year. If he can bring down his K numbers, he’ll be fun to watch.

There is a slight difference

With Halman’s athleticism he can play center field. So if he turns into Wlad, at least he’s playing a premium defense position. His value will be greater as long as he’s doing that.

Wlad played CF at this age too.
I don't think Wlad is the physical specimen that Halman is
Haven't seen anything on the military man or Doug Fister lately.

Are they both injured or something?

Fister started last night

Hill may go tonight.

Go Victor Diaz

You’re better than 3/4 of our bench.
