[PRETEND THERE IS AN AWESOME INTRO HERE]
The hypothetical intro is far more awesome than the sub-Tacoma hitters were yesterday.
On to the wrap-up!

VENEZUELA~! VSL Mariners 3, VSL Rays 2
VSLMs: 15-11... VSL Rays: 10-17
(League: 262/348/363... 3.86 ERA)
Reynado Sabala: 7 IP, 5 H, 2 walks, 6 K, 2 wild pitches, hit batter
Oberth Guanire: 2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, walk, 3 K, wild pitch, hit batter
Rigoberto Rangel: 1-4, triple, RBI, K
Jetsy Extrano: 1-3, 2 run HR, K
Jetsy Extrano went deep in the 4th for the first 2 runs in this low scoring contest, and Rigoberto Rangel punched another one in during the 8th. In the 9th, two defensive miscues and some bad control from Oberth Guanire allowed the Rays to get 2 runs in the 9th, but only 2.
Dominican: Looks like the DSLMs never played their Thursday game with the DSL Cards. I'll blame weather.
A: Burlington 5, Wisconsin 0
WIS: 27-34... BUR: 29-38
(League: 249/321/369... 3.61 ERA)
Edward Paredes: 4.1 IP, 5 H, (4 R) 2 ER, walk, K (12 GS, 4.07 ERA, 59.2 IP, 6 HR, 24/43 BB/K)
Jose Escalona: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER (HR), walk, 4 K (11 app, 1.42 ERA, 12.2 IP, 1 HR, 6/15 BB/K)
Keith Meyer: 1 IP (18 app, 3.42 ERA, 26.1 IP, 3 HR, 12/28 BB/K)
Edilio Colina: 2-3, walk (302/367/392)
Ronald Garth: 2-4 (230/280/309)
Denny Almonte: 1-2, double, walk, K (259/312/435)
Blake Ochoa: 1-3, double, K (279/347/372)
A walk, balk and two infield errors led to 2 1st inning runs, and the Bees finally hit Paredes hard in the 3rd, going triple-double-single to make it 4-0 before a GIDP mercifully ended the inning. Paredes got as far as he could from there, but after plunking the leadoff batter in the 5th and allowing a lined single, he got the hook for Jose Escalona.
Groundballs: 10 (plus 1 bunt)
Flyballs: 5
Line Drives: 2
Walks: 1 (plus 2 hit batters)
Strikeouts: 1
Meanwhile, three different Bees pitchers allowed only 6 hits in shutting the T-Rats out.
A+: Rancho Cucamonga 3, High Desert 1
Mavs: 29-38... Quakes: 28-39
(League: 266/337/399... 4.43 ERA)
Kyle Parker: 6.1 IP, 5 H, (2 R) 1 ER, 6 walks, 2 K (14 GS, 3.60 ERA, 80 IP, 5 HR, 33/65 BB/K)
Bryan Harris: 1 IP (14 app, 6.75 ERA, 16 IP, 3 HR, 1/9 BB/K)
Julio Santiago: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, walk, K, wild pitch, balk (20 app, 4.13 ERA, 28.1 IP, 1 HR, 18/26 BB/K)
Carlos Peguero: 2-4, R (294/318/460)
Erick Monzon: 2-4, double (180/234/230)
Kyle Parker had some control issues, and with the Mavs unable to get much going against Quakes pitching, the 2 runs he allowed in the 2nd did the Mavs in.
Groundballs: 13
Flyballs: 4
Line Drives: 2
Pop Ups: 1
Walks: 6
Strikeouts: 2
AA: Chattanooga 5, West Tenn 1
WTN: 39-28... CHA: 36-31
(League: 262/341/397... 4.22 ERA)
Doug FISTER: 5 IP, 5 H, (4 R) 2 ER, 5 walks, 4 K (14 GS, 3.82 ERA, 80 IP, 8 HR, 34/62 BB/K)
Travis Chick: 2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, (intentional) walk, K (17 app, 3.70 ERA, 41.1 IP, 2 HR, 21/32 BB/K)
Marwin Vega: 2 IP, 2 H, 2 K (21 app, 5.25 ERA, 36 IP, 2 HR, 28/21 BB/K)
Michael Saunders: 2-4, RBI (283/366/472)
Adam Moore: 2-4, double, K (305/383/459)
THE FIST got fisted for 3 runs in the 1st, with help from a playable ball getting by Mike Wilson in RF and a botched grounder by Mark Kiger at SS. He did finish the minimum without much more damage, but we continue a common theme, as the DIAMOND JAXX got little against Lookouts pitching, namely Sam Lecure, a former 4th round pick who can miss bats and all but isn't anything special. Some would say FISTER isn't anything special, but I'd beg to differ, player haters.
Groundballs: 10
Flyballs: 4
Line Drives: 2
Pop Ups: 1
Walks: 5
Strikeouts: 4
AAA: Tacoma 7, Salt Lake 4
TAC: 32-34... SLK: 43-22
(League: 273/345/432... 4.70 ERA)
Chris Jakubauskas: 4 IP, 4 H, (3 R) 2 ER (HR), 2 walks, K, 2 wild pitches, balk (8 GS, 3.06 ERA, 47 IP, 5 HR, 13/32 BB/K)
Jake Woods: 2 IP, 4 H, 1 ER (HR), K (20 app, 4.46 ERA, 36.1 IP, 6 HR, 13/28 BB/K)
Cesar Jimenez: 2 IP, 3 H, walk, 5 K (23 app, 4.02 ERA, 31.1 IP, 3 HR, 8/41 BB/K)
Jared Baek Bait Wells: 1 IP, walk, 2 K (25 app, 4.85 ERA, 26 IP, 1 HR, 15/23 BB/K)
Jeff Clement (DH): 2-5, R, 2 K (356/475/718)
Victor Diaz: 0-4, sac fly RBI, 2 K (270/346/522)
Charlton Jimerson: 2-5, GRAND SLAM, solo HR, 2 K (241/257/474)
After Victor Diaz sac flied a runner in during the 1st, the Rainiers loaded the bases, Jeff Clement walked to force in a run, and Charlton Jimerson then belted a GRAND SLAM to make it 6-0. From there, Chris Jakubauskas was set to cruise... but mysteriously called it a night after the 4th in what wasn't a terrific outing, but he had only thrown 66 pitches, so my bet's on him tweaking something and the coaches not wanting to take any chances.
Mystic Tan's rocky two innings got him an easy win.

Clement's numbers aren't too great
I still think he has something left to prove.

Yea, the 1.193 OPS is putrid.
Also, I’m watching the Seinfeld episode where Kramer sues the heiress to the O’Henry candy bar fortune.
Frank: What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for? He had 30 home runs and over 100 RBIs last year. He’s got a rocket for an arm. You don’t know what the hell you’re doing.
Steinbrenner: Oh, he was a good prospect no question about it, but my baseball people loved Ken Phelps’ bat. They kept saying Ken Phelps, Ken Phelps.
Oh the good ol’ days.

His defense needs work
and his leadership skills are somewhat lacking. Also, he doesn’t get his uniform dirty enough, and there’s no way on Earth that he’ll have the skills to be a good rookie by moving the runners up a base by giving himself up.

and his bat's too slow
BeltredNOT - June 14, 2008
Right, sorry about that.
Looks like he’s swinging a boat oar through molasses. Only crushes soft-tossing lefties, really.

I remember seeing this clip at a Mariners game vs. the Yankees when Jay Buhner was in attendance.
It was a great game with great seats. section 125 row 14, so right near the home dugout. Washburn some how pitched an 8-inning shut out, and the M’s won 3-0. I’ve seen Jay Buhner around a few times when I worked in redmond town center. He ordered from the pizza place I worked at there. Apparently he isn’t a good tipper.
