Only June. You need you ace to strp up today. Taking two of three from the best team in the AL is a start. Have you taken a look at the Chowder’s record at Fenway this season?
Not my thing. I actually enjoy watching some M's players.
And I like the people on this site. I might poke fun at the pessimism around here on occasion, (on other occasions, I’m forced to join in) but that’s really it.
Strasburg: I already have a good offspeed pitch. Ms: The change is more deceptive and helps you establish the fastball. Strasburg: I don’t really need to establish my fastball, it’s 99 with movement. Ms: You should be able to throw nothing but fastballs in the first inning. Strasburg: That’s retarded. Why would I do that? Ms: Then they’ll be fooled by your changeup later in the game. Strasburg: but slider!
I just got home to find a message on my phone from my sister. Apparently Howard Lincoln is going to be the commencement speaker at her graduation next week.
Last night after five Avery White Rascals I expressed interest in buying something a little lighter. My friend helpfully pointed out the Miller Lite tap. Said friend, it should be noted, does not drink.
In reality, I see Putz and maybe Beltre being gone this July. Putz will bring a nice AAAer. Beltre? Any team who’s smart enough to want him is also smart enough to rip Bavasi off, so the names of the returns aren’t going to matter.
The pitching and defense have been legit so far. They’ll get worse almost certainly, but the Tigers suck and the Indians are now minus Westbrook for ‘08 and their own offense sucks so…
Serious comment from a blog of foxsportsnet.com (I don't know why I bother reading this shit, but anyway)
“What was McLaren thinking when he decided on the line-up today against Wakefield. Why didn’t he load the line-up with contact hitters – Bloomquist, Cairo, Reed, and Burke – in lieu of the free swingers – Beltre, Sexon, Ballentin, and Jojima?! No wonder they have the worst record in baseball!!!”
and it was weird to have all these morons start quoting it, and they didn’t get the jokes about social commentary and completely whoosed the irony. they ruined the show and drove Dave Chappelle bananas.
The show itself is still good enough to watch the DVDs every now and then
And his standup specials were awesome. Luckily I don’t hang out with people that are the type of people who say “I’m Rick James bitch!” so it never got ruined for me.
My apartment was on an arterial between Downtown Olympia’s many bars and several neighborhoods, so big crowds of drunk d-bags walked past my window nightly.
I’m bias though because I’m a huge Spider-Man dork and the movie finally brought Spider-Man alive for me. Really captured how I pictured the web-swinging and all that. My only gripes with the series: Not enough witty retorts by Spider-Man, Mary Jane acted more like Gwen Stacy than the sassy pushy bitch she’s supposed to be.
it’s one thing if he’s a dork, it’s quite another to make him a creepy stalker. And why the fuck is Mary Jane so weak and helpless… and the CGI is so cheesy… blargh.
By the end of the year there will be 750 links to the new thread.

THE VOICE - June 8, 2008
Why do you have such optimism for the Mariners?
Is this the first game you’ve seen all season or something?
marinator - June 8, 2008
This is still the same team many picked to win the West
I think there is still plenty of time to mount a comeback. And more than enough talent on this team to make that run.
THE VOICE - June 8, 2008
History says we're fucked.
BrianL - June 8, 2008
The people who picked us to win the division are stupid.
No one here expected this team to make the playoffs.
JI - June 8, 2008
I dunno
I thought we had like ~35% odds coming in
Graham MacAree - June 8, 2008
To be fair
I expected this team to collapse more so than everyone else. But it was more a gut feeling than anything.
JI - June 8, 2008
Gut wise I was right with you. I expected epic failure.
But probability said otherwise.
Matthew - June 8, 2008
I said 83-84 wins
We’re the 05 Astros minus Lance Berkman.

Only June?
Dude, we are approaching halfway through the season. It’s not like this is extended Spring training.
Wilder. - June 8, 2008
We'd have to play .700 ball for the rest of the season.
JI - June 8, 2008
Assuming the Angels continue at this pace.
No chance, the Halos have too many injuries and too many playing out of position to continue winning (especially scoring two runs a ballgame).
THE VOICE - June 8, 2008
If the Angels don't make the playoffs, Oakland will.
There’s no way we make the playoffs.
BrianL - June 8, 2008
And then there's the A's, the Rangers, the Rays, and the Red Sox to deal with.
Plus this team has 5 good players and a bunch of no talent ass clowns. There’s no way this team aviods losing 90 games.
JI - June 8, 2008
If we claw our way back to .500 and miss out on a high draft pick I'll be so angry
Graham MacAree - June 8, 2008
I have a horrible feeling this is what's going to happen.
Finishing near .500 might be the worst thing ever to happen to this club.
BrianL - June 8, 2008
I don't; we are horrible
I have a good feeling.

Strasburg: I already have a good offspeed pitch.

Strasburg: I don’t really need to establish my fastball, it’s 99 with movement.
Ms: You should be able to throw nothing but fastballs in the first inning.
Strasburg: That’s retarded. Why would I do that?

What can they do to us?
We didn’t fake an injury this time, and I’m pretty sure it’s not an illegal practice.
BrettJMiller - June 8, 2008
Wow i missed a troll in this thread.
I could tell by the comments and by seeing quite a few trolls in my time.
PhilKenSebben - June 8, 2008
It is still hanging around.

Predictable result.

FUCK YOU WITH A MACHETE DREW
OlSalty - June 8, 2008

Well, shoot.
Aaron Campeau - June 8, 2008
Was that Nancy Fucking Drew?
chinn - June 8, 2008
Why did Green come in against a lefty?
Graham MacAree - June 8, 2008
AMBER ALERT

Jeff Sullivan - June 8, 2008
Drew would make a perfect Mariner
THE VOICE - June 8, 2008
Patient hitter with good defense.
No he wouldn’t.

*sigh*
Graham MacAree - June 8, 2008
But clubhouse guy too.
He leads the league in fewest RBIs remembered.
JI - June 8, 2008
I know he's an Angels troll.
Happybelly - June 8, 2008
I'm not sure whether he's a troll or just stupid.
The all caps screen name leads be to believe the latter.
People with all caps screen names are stupid.
JI - June 8, 2008
Well he would be a good Mariner, the type of player we should go after
Therefore he does not fit the mold at all
BrettJMiller - June 8, 2008
eponymous_coward - June 8, 2008
This seems like a strange comment to facepalm
Graham MacAree - June 8, 2008
It's the trolling more than anything else.
eponymous_coward - June 8, 2008
He doesn't seem like a troll so much as like a very confused person
Graham MacAree - June 8, 2008
My FSN feed sucks.
BrianL - June 8, 2008
Mine's been crap the whole game too
OlSalty - June 8, 2008

PhilKenSebben - June 8, 2008

Graham MacAree - June 8, 2008

PhilKenSebben - June 8, 2008
You know, you could say you advocated anything and I would believe you

Last Fan Of Jose Lopez - June 8, 2008
No.

Well then, remember when I knew Chase Utley was going to be a beast back when he was in high school?
Last Fan Of Jose Lopez - June 8, 2008
Remeber back in 2002 when i advocated getting my favorite NL player Jeff Cirillo
PhilKenSebben - June 8, 2008
That was stupid.
And I remember being mad at Rob Neyer for saying he would suck.
JI - June 8, 2008
I was psyched.
PhilKenSebben - June 8, 2008
Yeah me too.

I was worried when I realized he looked like John Rocker.
JI - June 8, 2008
A Trade with the Rangers would make sense.
The Rangers could use Dickey back. Hell, they could use any major league pitcher.
THE VOICE - June 8, 2008
They're not going to give us Bradley for RA Dickey.
BrianL - June 8, 2008
Nobody is getting their hands on our Dickey.
Wilder. - June 8, 2008
Taking the average of the two comments above me, I say it's a perfect trade for everyone
Last Fan Of Jose Lopez - June 8, 2008
The Rangers just released him
Why would they trade us a good player to get him back?
JI - June 8, 2008
I did too you thought thief
Jeff Sullivan - June 8, 2008
Don't we agree on everything anyway?
Graham MacAree - June 8, 2008

I remember typing that
Jeff Sullivan - June 8, 2008
Ironically, we farm beets at the beerery
Matthew - June 8, 2008
Youk under 300

Fuck you luck
Edgar for Mayor - June 8, 2008
I would take him
You want Rob Quinlin or Brandon Wood?
THE VOICE - June 8, 2008

Graham MacAree - June 8, 2008
Neither.
BrianL - June 8, 2008

Interested in a road trip to Bellingham, Coach? I’ll buy you breakfast on the way.
Katal LM - June 8, 2008
His arsenal might be too heavy for your car.

We go to elaborate measures to conceal special guest identity.

Nah, it's Omar Epps.

You should do this anyway, because it could be Hugh Laurie.
Matthew - June 8, 2008
Could we trade Graham for Hugh Laurie
Robert - June 8, 2008
It's tough negogiating.
I’m holding out to get Cameron thrown in the deal as well. We might have to part with BrianL
Matthew - June 8, 2008
Hey now
I won’t accept a trade to House unless Cameron stays. Take Cuddy
Graham MacAree - June 8, 2008
My plan is to send them EnglishMariner in your place.
I assume they cannot tell the difference.
Matthew - June 8, 2008
It's an honor to be part of a trade for Hugh Laurie and Jennifer Morrison.
BrianL - June 8, 2008
Cuddy gives us the veteran leadship we so crave.
JI - June 8, 2008
Not as much of an honor.
BrianL - June 8, 2008
Better actress.
JI - June 8, 2008
Not as hot.
BrianL - June 8, 2008
Be sure to extract top value for Graham
Acting him to the cast would surely increase House ratings in the Far East and in the land of Oz.
Robert - June 8, 2008
I find this to be unlikely.

True, but won't you be upset when/if it turns out to be true?

Robert - June 8, 2008
I want power but not responsibility.
JI - June 8, 2008
"With great power comes great responsibility"
Ben Parker (2002?)
Fin - June 8, 2008
That movie was terrible.
JI - June 8, 2008
False.
I could possibly agree if you said that about Spider-man 3, even though I didn’t think it was that bad.
Fin - June 8, 2008
they both were terrible
JI - June 8, 2008
Spider-Man was awesome. >:(
I’m bias though because I’m a huge Spider-Man dork and the movie finally brought Spider-Man alive for me. Really captured how I pictured the web-swinging and all that. My only gripes with the series: Not enough witty retorts by Spider-Man, Mary Jane acted more like Gwen Stacy than the sassy pushy bitch she’s supposed to be.
BrettJMiller - June 8, 2008
Yeah I really disliked Peter Parker
it’s one thing if he’s a dork, it’s quite another to make him a creepy stalker. And why the fuck is Mary Jane so weak and helpless… and the CGI is so cheesy… blargh.
JI - June 8, 2008
The JI/Brett Raul teaser should be up in a few minutes...
BrettJMiller - June 8, 2008
zomg can't wait.
