Though there is no softball today, I hustled this together. Thanks again to Smith Tavern for letting me camp out over coffee while I knock this out.
- The DSL has an All Star game today between the all stars of the DSL AL affiliates and the DSL NL affiliates. Since getting a copy of the Pentagon cafeteria lunch menu is easier than trying to find additional info about anything DSL related, there's not much else to say for the moment or if any DSLMs made the team, though I'd imagine a few of them did. Guys like Hassiel Jimenez, Efrain Nuñez or Mario Flores.
- A tribute to the dead-ball qualities of the Midwest League: despite a 17 mph wind out to left, Beloit and Wisconsin combined for 22 K and 8 hits in a 1-0 T-Rats win. Jake Wild was money yet again over 7 innings, and Ryan Moorer with Jeff Dunbar combined to seal the 5 hit shutout.
- When I receive word on why Ryan Ketchner left his start for West Tenn after two scoreless innings, I'll let you know.
- When I receive word on why Roman Martinez kept shaking off everything but the suck pitch in the 7th inning, I'll let you know.
- Go figure I extoll the offense-suppressing virtues of the PCL's east end, and then the Rainiers average 9 runs over their last 3 games in Nashville and Memphis. Top it off with the Rainiers rallying in the 9th last night from 6-1 down to roar ahead 8-6 with a 7 run frame.
Meanwhile, Jorge Sosa wasted no time joining the Rainiers, relieving alien suck pitch specialist Joe Woerman in the 7th and striking out 2 in a scoreless frame. Other than a gopherball problem this season with Round Rock, Sosa can still strike out batters at a clip while keeping walks down. He replaces turkey gravy specialist Tracy Thorpe, who is heading to West Tenn to... stretch out and... become... a starter... what.
Let's do stats so I don't have to wrap my head around that further.

Good to see Michael Saunders back in the action.

yeah, nice to see him get a hit... he was in a 2-28 slump before the final game
in Nashville. No xbh’s in that stretch either. That HR was his first since 7/2.
Of course, he’s gotta join the Canadian Olympic team tomorrow in Toronto.
