41-67

I'm taking a personal day (night?). Having the trade deadline take place during a workweek with zero offdays is more taxing than you'd think.

R.A. Dickey needed this start something terrible.

7_31_08_medium

Biggest Contribution: R.A. Dickey, +28.1%
Biggest Suckfest: Jose Lopez, -4.9%
Most Important AB: Ibanez double, +9.0%
Most Important Pitch: Murphy groundout, +6.9%
Total Contribution by Pitcher(s): +29.7%
Total Contribution by Lineup: +8.2%
Total Contribution by Opposition: +11.4%
(What is this chart?)

So far this year there have been 459 players who have come to the plate at least 50 times. Willie has a higher walk rate than 404 of them. He has a higher extra-base hit rate than two of them.

XBHs are overrated. Walks are where it's at.
Who the hell is below Willie? I think even John McDonald is higher than him
Neither Norris Hopper nor Johnny Estrada have yet been able to round first base
And Willits, your favorite player, Jeff, has three.
Norris Hopper sounds silly
Any chance for a Felix-Bedard-Dickey-RRS-Morrow Rotation next year?

Because with starts like there, that seems like it would be really kick ass. Or is the ‘Veteran Grit’ of Washburn and Silva to strong for the Ms to resist?

As for Willie, Ill give him props. He’s probebly a better all around SS then Yuni right now.

Silva's locked in place for a while.
So no chance for a 48 Million doller long relief man?

Awwwwww

Darn you, Greasy.
I'm hoping that the new GM pulls the move that would help the team most and pays Silva to go home...

It won’t happen…but hey…blindly irrational optimism!

His nickname should be Bitey.
You forgot Strasburg...
There's zero chance Strasbug starts for an MLB team next year.

He won’t be drafted until June, and even the majestically talented Stephen James Strasburg isn’t going to be in the majors the year he’s drafted.

Morrow and Andrew Miller did. (two recent examples)
Morrow did not.
What the hell was I thinking?

For some reason I thought he was the first person to make his major league debut from the ‘06 draft.

And Miller didn't start

and he was only up because it was in his contract that he have a major league deal.

So, how soon should we expect the file to be found on how many people have a lower walk rate then Willie?

I’m gonna make sure I spelled it correctly, then try refreshing.

Willie's current profile would make him perfect for the Dominican Summer League
I take it

This was the end of Lopez’s hitting streak?

Oh well, still better than Ted Williams.

He had a hit
Really?

The streak is alive!!!

:D Thank you for the good news…no surprise it comes from a fellow Lopezhumper.

LFoJL

When you are making a resume for jobs and internships and college, be sure to include “Lopezhumper” on there somewhere.

He had a hit late in the game when it was already a bajillion to 0, so he didn't get much WPA for continuing to be awesome
lol wut a douche. not clutch like guillen
Im sure Lopez is fine with it

He is all about the team…what a saint.

"personal day (night?)" = White Chicks followed by Major Payne

Only on TBS, home of great TV shows like House of Payne and the Bill Engvall Show.

So, Sexson still can't get an XBH

and it’s an extremely SSS, but I wouldn’t mind having him at 1B (except for the fact that LaHair is the man!).

Holy mother of God, Stone's 12th anniversary is AMAZING AMAZING WOOOOOOOOO
Isn't it?

The first time I was impressed. The second time I was in love.

Did you ever get cake?
i love dickey's facial expression when the ball releases his hand
Wow and Kenny Williams just said that CF was the easiest of the 3 OF positions.

I can’t watch Junior get embarassed like this.

I believe that he was trying to relate the...

...well-worn idea that CF is easier on your body than corner outfield spots. I could see some inkling of truth in that idea, in that you don’t have as many walls to deal with. Still, any way you cut it, Griffey’s presence in the White Sox lineup is going to hurt them on defense at some position, and by more than a little bit.

Somehow, though, the Griffey trade makes more sense to me than all the walks that WFB has been able to coax this year.

The easiest to fuck up
During the radio broadcast, Niehaus asked Rizzs last night if he thought Griffey would be fine in CF.

Rizzs of course, said “yes, I do” because he’s a dumbass.

You could almost hear the bewildered expression on Niehaus’ face as he exclaimed “Really??? I don’t.”

The sad thing is that 40% of Chicago agrees with Rizzs.

In Rizzs' world, players stop aging after 30.
R.A. DICKEY IS A MAN AND HE'S 40*!!! COME AFTER HIM!!!!

*Actually 33

Jeffrey,

Are the M’s still working on locking up Felix? If yes, how is it going?

Not during the season
Gotcha.

Thanks man

Ahahahahaha

Nobody cares about your fake stats and players teams and all, but this is more M’s relevant than fake stats and players relevant. Skip past the main article and scroll to the Fantasy Flames section. Note who is listed as a Moderate Buy.

Jamie Moyer?

Oh, LaHair, right. I’m sure they had Clement and Wlad up there when they first got called up too. They must’ve worked out really well for whoever picked them up.

Phillips think the Bay trade will cost the Red Sox the post season

because Bay is hitting .219 with RISP

It's gotten to the point where I'll yell at my TV or radio when he comes on.

JUST SHUT UP YOU DOUCHE SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP

It’s become such an automatic reaction that I got in trouble at a sports bar because of it.

I laughed out loud at the TV when he said that.

And I yelled at Kenny Williams when he was talking about Junior in centerfield.

I'll bet Bay lied about his birth date once he was in America
They don't keep good records in Trail.
He sure did tear up the British Columbian Summer League once he got aggressive at the plate

You don’t get off of the Shield with a walk.

And that's why Steve Phillips is a talking head rather than an actual GM
Indeed

His coffin must have an awful lot of nails in it

Peace offering?
After Boston DFA’d Pineiro last year and he came over to the Cardinals, Dave Duncan was lauded for his work with Pineiro as having turned him around and corrected him tipping his pitches. Obviously that was a bunch of crap as those kinds of statements usually are (the Mariners are still waiting to see Silva throw his new 40M dollar splitter). Pineiro is what his statistical record showed he was—a mediocre, barely above replacement level pitcher.
