Lines only again, but I'll note a few things up front. This may be a better way to do things for now:
- Triunfel hit his 2nd career home run.
- The Rainiers gave up nearly 3 touchdowns in a 20-7 loss. And a lot of Rainiers bats put up some nice offensive numbers as well. The wind didn't appear to be blowing noticeably out to the fences, and while somewhat offense friendly given the altitude and dry climate, Franklin Covey Field isn't known for being a launchpad.
- Jessie Nava and Angel Raga combined on a one hitter for the DSLMs. Nava's hit allowed came very early in the game.
- Brent Gaphardt made his 1st appearance since 2006 Tommy John surgery for the AZLMs, throwing a perfect rehab inning before taking a seat.
- Dennis Freaking Raben was finally stopped... by the schedule. The Aquasox had yesterday off.

the Tacoma game
Dorman pulled after 5 batters faced because he couldn’t get loose. Topped out at 85 according to Mike Curto’s story. Hope he’s ok.
I’ve always heard Covey Field IS a launching pad, and MILBsplits has the HR factor listed as 1.26. That doesn’t mesh with some other innernut data, but I’m fairly sure it should have a positive HR factor.

Oh, there's a positive factor for sure
though other parks have HR factors in the 1.3s and 1.4s, with Albuquerque right up top in the 1.6s. Covey is above average hitter-wise for sure. I was just surprised, given how the park had played previously this series for both teams.
Gomez - July 9, 2008
Yeah, fair enough - it ain't Alb.
But the R’s have now played 7 games in Covey field. In those 7 games, the teams have combined to hit… 22 home runs! That’s pretty crazy.

What's with Saunders?
Fett42 - July 9, 2008
Saunders just hit the wall
that many hitters face after a promotion. AAA pitchers have some scouting data and they’re pitching to his tendencies.
Gomez - July 9, 2008
I think he meant 'why isn't he in the line up'
if that’s what you meant, Fett, it’s a hamstring injury. Should be back soon… doesn’t sound serious.

Tuglett has a higher OPS
..than Wlad. Also, Prentice Redman continues to rake.
CKel - July 9, 2008
Prentice Redman is laying the wood to Ray King
wait, am I doing it wrong?
Gomez - July 9, 2008
What happened to Huber? Did his stuff get worse?
Jed MC - July 9, 2008
Yeah.
He’s had recurring forearm injuries, which may be part of it, but he’s just worse since the start of 2007.
It’s worth mentioning that he was never as good as he looked in ‘06, either. His DER allowed was amazing, and that was for a not-good-at-defense M’s team.
