This season has suddenly gotten a lot more interesting
Instead of not giving a crap about 5/9th’s of our lineup and most of our rotation, suddenly we have Jeffie, Wlad, Reed, Dickey, and soon RRS and Morrow to watch and it’s pretty fun to monitor their progress (and I guess, to a much lesser extent, LaHair too). Even if they don’t pan out, it’s so much more entertaining to find out what you’ve got in them than to watch people who are proven to be terrible day after day after day playing meaningless baseball. Because with this fresh blood in the lineup the baseball isn’t meaningless anymore, it has great meaning for the future of the club, and that just makes it a million times more entertaining.
It almost makes you want to care about this team again.

Happy to hear (earlier this week) about Joh’s role being lessened…then seeing Jeffie get playing time is great since i am a proud Jeffie fan
We could actually have an interesting lineup that wont make u want to roll over in agony over half the time! I don’t expect EVERY one of above names to become “aces” or “all-stars” but at least we can have some fun rooting for them!

I love that we all seemed to forget how young he is.
I basically wrote him off after last year, forgetting that he was 23.
Hopefully his Fielding Bible +/- this year is flawed for some reason.

I'm not sure I can possibly accept him going from average-above average to awful in one season
especially when individual fielding metrics aren’t as advanced as hitting metrics yet. On the other hand, after watching Yuni… anything is possible :(

Yeah.
RZR has him as 16/20 MLB qualifying 2B, but he’s #3 in OOZ (behind Utley and Roberts). The Baseball Analysts had him slightly below average (-2 runs or so). I feel like he can’t be that bad; I’d peg him at average-slightly below average based on what I’ve seen. And if this is his real bat, then he seems to be a .770 OPS guy who gives you ~slightly below average D while cheap. That is an asset.
I wish he was the SS and Yuni was the 2B. That way we could easily replace Yuni (Hudson, Ellis, etc). Instead we will either have to find a cheap okay guy at SS (Cedeno) or get in a bidding war with the Sawx for Furcal. And that’s assuming we even recognize that Yuni is a problem and do something about it.

But if we knew he was slipping, don’t you think we would have tried to sell him to other teams when he still had good value? The Dodgers would have given up something shiny for him; but from all accounts we never really discussed him with any teams.

Hmmm, interestingly, post ASB seems like he's not hitting the ball as hard
64 BIP, 10 LD (15%), 23 FB, 31 GB
For the past 28 games though, 106 BIP, 20 LD, 37 FB, 49 GB
So in conclusion, he may just be getting a little BABIP lucky right now, but his HR/FB is only standing at 6.4% and I think he has more power than that so yeah… for whatever that’s worth
