How much effect does playing Ichiro in the infield in the 9th inn. have on Win Probability?
I’m not finding that type of defensive shift addressed in the links. And I understand that the hit was deep enough to score the winning run from 3rd even if it was caught.

Win Expectancy doesn't really take that sort of thing into consideration
It was the right idea with Corcoran on the mound. It just didn’t work out, like so many other things.

Gotcha, I'm glad I asked though.
This is leading me into some links to Tangotiger I hadn’t checked out before.

Any idea (or stats out there on) how often such a shift works?
In my admittedly limited observational experience, I notice the shift doesn’t work very often.

I've seen the shift work a lot.
And the times they don’t, it wouldn’t have mattered if there was no shift.
It would be an interesting stat to see gathered, though.
