PositivePaul - September 18, 2008
Ryan Feieraband's starts on the road, career:
0-9, 11.31 ERA
Kouvre - September 18, 2008
ewwwww
.Taylor - September 18, 2008
But ERA and W-L record are deceiving and stupid stats!
kentroyals5 - September 18, 2008
You can't argue with that.
.Taylor - September 18, 2008
True, but most pitchers I've heard of with 11.31 ERAs tend to be quite awful.
Kouvre - September 19, 2008
ERA is stupid.
Matthew - September 19, 2008
You're stupid
Jeff Sullivan - September 19, 2008
Yeah, well, you're a towel.
Matthew - September 19, 2008
Number 1 draft pick here we come!
Strasburg is nice but seriously ANOTHER RHP represented by Boras if 9 mil and a ML contract won’t reel this kid in…
Slurvey - September 18, 2008
that sentence almost made sense
and really, I’m no defender of Boras, but the degree of distaste for him expressed by everyone on the planet is kinda ridiculous. He’s an agent. His job is to get his client the best deal he possibly can. He does that better than most. If I could hire him to get me jobs, I’d do it in a heartbeat.
pdb - September 18, 2008
"Yes, that's right Mr. Johnson...My client, pdb, would like a gingerale everyday at lunch. He is not budging on this perk."
kentroyals5 - September 18, 2008
I share the exact same viewpoint on him as you.
He’s the best at his job and with all owners making money hand over fist in the era of revenue sharing, an argument could even be made that he’s taking money from the rich and giving it to the “poor.”
However, while I don’t claim to know the whole story behind it, it sure looks like he screwed Pedro Alvarez pretty bad. My understanding is that Alvarez would have been fine with the $6 million offer from the Pirates, and now he might have to re enter the draft next year where he won’t get nearly that much. I don’t know how much the value is for senior first baseman with no pro experience, but I bet it’s not as much as a 21-year-old junior.
Double06 - September 18, 2008
I'm not sure the distaste in that comment is so much for him
as the fact that anyone represented by him isn’t going to come cheap.
Gomez - September 19, 2008
Read the comment guidelines.
You almost violated two of them.
.Taylor - September 18, 2008
You must link to them
Style Guide
seattlebruin - September 18, 2008
I remember when this place's only rules were not to reference politics or be a complete asshat
And now we have a fucking list.
Gomez - September 19, 2008
I like the list :(
Jeff Sullivan - September 19, 2008
The spirit of the list is understandable
I just don’t want this place to turn into a place where your thoughts are dismissed ad-hominem because of your grammar.
Gomez - September 19, 2008
Sometimes it's the only way
Jeff Sullivan - September 19, 2008
"GRAMMAR CHECK!"
Calling out the Style Guide is fine as long as people take the argument for what it is.
Gomez - September 19, 2008
Agreed, unless someone becomes a repeat offender
Jeff Sullivan - September 19, 2008
It's one thing to not have perfect grammar. That's excusable, grammar is complex.
It’s completely different when I have no idea what the person is saying because the grammar/punctuation is bad/missing.
Matthew - September 19, 2008
Yeah
If mistakes are all over the comment(s) and render them difficult to read, I understand stopping the bus and calling the person out. But only then.
Gomez - September 19, 2008

Jeff Sullivan - September 19, 2008
LL, USSM and FG should sign a mutual ban treaty.
Matthew - September 19, 2008
Dave Cameron would ban me from the face of the Earth if he got the chance
Gomez - September 19, 2008
He got called out for completely different reasons
Gomez - September 19, 2008
But his writing was terrible
Jeff Sullivan - September 19, 2008
I figured it was deemed terrible more for the content than any errors
And yeah, it WAS terrible.
Gomez - September 19, 2008
Well he pretty much did everything wrong
Jeff Sullivan - September 19, 2008
I can take comfort in believing that posters like AK inspired the Style Guide
Gomez - September 19, 2008
You're
Robert - September 19, 2008
The only thing I don't like about it the first item.
I think it’s worded too strongly and comes too close to the “Respect post counts” vibe from message boards. I’d rather have it be more of a suggestion that many things have been discussed here prior and there’s a very good search feature.
Also, that many people have been here for awhile and have developed far more of a community aspect to the place and that you cannot just show up and join right in even if you know all the inside jokes from the wiki or something.
In other words, I wouldn’t say you have to wait months of lurking before posting, but for the first while after you join, stick to posting about baseball (and following the other rules) and then when people recognize you, move more into the social parts. This is, after all, a baseball blog. You should be joining to talk about baseball.
Matthew - September 19, 2008
Your subject line has bad grammar in it
Jeff Sullivan - September 19, 2008
Actually, it has a missing word.
Is that still technically bad grammar?
Matthew - September 19, 2008
How was JI not banned months ago?
Jeff Sullivan - September 19, 2008
... He was.
And then banned again.
And again.
And again…
Matthew - September 19, 2008
At least I channeled that energy into something creative
JI - September 19, 2008
His first post here was prophetic
Link
Robert - September 19, 2008
Damn it.
Kirsten Schlewitz - September 19, 2008
Brobowned.
JI - September 19, 2008
That's is the greatest comment in LL history.
JI - September 19, 2008
Yes that's is.
Kirsten Schlewitz - September 19, 2008
You'd think I would feel shame
but I stopped caring.
JI - September 19, 2008
Endearing.
Kirsten Schlewitz - September 19, 2008
Aww
JI - September 19, 2008
Calling out the grammar/syntax/conjugation mistakes is heeelarious.
I found a website explaining all the proper usages, it was great. Had little cartoon pictures and everything. I’ll try to find it again, maybe give you guys a handy reference for ‘repeat offenders’.
dpseadv - September 19, 2008
One could say that repeating dead meme after dead meme
constitutes asshattery
JI - September 19, 2008
I understood that sentence because of my days as a sought after proof reader.
JI - September 19, 2008
So you're calling me an asshat, JI?
Gomez - September 19, 2008
Am I?
JI - September 19, 2008
It appears Seo
Gomez - September 19, 2008
Punning with a name that sounds identical to the word disgraces Dioner of the pun itself
Jeff Sullivan - September 19, 2008
You want me to join in here but I'm telling you now that this marks the Sandoval puns for me
Dewey N - September 19, 2008
Also
Slamming this guy for going off topic belies the rest of comments below, half of which are technically off-topic.
Cut this guy some slack.
Gomez - September 19, 2008
I gotta agree with Gomez. I don't really see the problem here.
Goose - September 19, 2008
I think it was more that the inability to read this guy's posts has been a recurring issue.
Kirsten Schlewitz - September 19, 2008
I can read this post just fine
It’s slightly choppy because of the all-caps in the middle, but if I had a dime for every time I read a choppy looking comment I could buy SBN.
Gomez - September 19, 2008
Can you translate then?
The best I can figure is that it’s missing a question martk after Boras and an ellipsis at the end, but I’m not confident in that.
Matthew - September 19, 2008
Reader's Digest version
“Picking Strasberg would be great but Strasberg + Boras = too much $$$$$ to shell out”
Gomez - September 19, 2008
Oh. Well, then no, the poster is incorrect.
Matthew - September 19, 2008
Strasburg is nice[.] But seriously [he is] ANOTHER RHP represented by Boras[.] [I]f 9 mil and a ML contract won’t reel this kid in [then we are going to have to look elsewhere.]
JI - September 19, 2008
This is definitely when you come in handy.
Kirsten Schlewitz - September 19, 2008
I also had no problem reading it
Robert - September 19, 2008
You ARE the same person.
Kirsten Schlewitz - September 19, 2008
I used to this for people all the time.
JI - September 19, 2008
It could always be worse.
We could all be Brewers fans right now.
My god that game today must have felt like getting kicked repeatedly in the sack by a mule.
esoteric - September 18, 2008
It was painful
listening to Uecker’s call. “Cubs win,” followed by 20 seconds of stunned silence.
Everyone around here knew that some sort of regression was likely, but I don’t think anybody expected it to be this huge.
BoUW - September 18, 2008
Worse than being a Brewers fan
you could be a Caridnals fan.
JI - September 18, 2008
You know they did end up winning one of those World Series things recently.
Eyebrows - September 19, 2008
That was a long time ago.
JI - September 19, 2008
You'll never make it back home, Steven.
Speaking of (and this is pure speculation), I can’t imagine Moores ponying up to pay Strasburg, especially considering the messy divorce he’s going through.
Teej - September 18, 2008
Divorce?
He’s going through a divorce? I have hockey pads older than him.
Brian Sullivan - September 18, 2008
Ha.
Never mind, I get it.
Brian Sullivan - September 18, 2008
Can't believe we are still even in the race for last place
Let alone leading the damn thing. As one last giant fuck you from the sports gods, I’m fully expecting us to leap frog SD and Washington on the last day of the season.
ack - September 18, 2008
I gave House a chance, finally.
Im impressed.
Slica - September 18, 2008
Damnit Valbuena
If not for your +2.4%, it would have been a group effort loss today!
mariners124m - September 18, 2008
Hm if Val can keep hitting for gap power he might stay in the game.
Slurvey - September 18, 2008
So the Giants are fucking crazy.
Goose - September 18, 2008
118..stupid
Kaorikaze - September 18, 2008
And all this time I thought it was Dusty Baker..
Is Dave Spaghetti still the pitching coach there or am I just stuck in 2003?
