How did the WPA of that Valbuena 2B work?
Dewey N - September 20, 2008
Had to charge him for making the out
even though he was safe, that’s how the play went.
Jeff Sullivan - September 20, 2008
So that play was responsible for the spike up and then the dip after it?
Dewey N - September 20, 2008
Indeed
Double: +19.5%
Thrown out: -27.0%
Jeff Sullivan - September 20, 2008
Did you assign that -27 to Valbuena?
Dewey N - September 20, 2008
Look at the spike up and then the immediate spike down.
Wilder. - September 20, 2008
Had to
Jeff Sullivan - September 20, 2008
Could have gone to the umpire
Dewey N - September 20, 2008
That picture of Silva is priceless.
.Taylor - September 20, 2008
Actually, that is a $48 million picture.
:-/
Wilder. - September 20, 2008
I didn't think he could do it. But he looks heavier in high-socks
kentroyals5 - September 20, 2008
Got scalped tickets for this game.
$40 for two 5 rows back from the M’s dugout. Pretty awesome seats…game was no so.
That call looked like bullshit to everybody. Silva sucks. Betancourt sucks much more. His defense is worse than useless.
Edgar for Pres - September 20, 2008
Maybe you should add another line of "Total Contribution by Umpires"??
Steve Nelson - September 20, 2008
I remember Mike Reilly getting a line of his own in the Mike Reilly game
Gomez - September 20, 2008
So we have a 2.5 game lead over San Diego and a 0.5 game lead over Washington.
We may have Strasburg locked up. Washington won’t draft him and San Diego is on the verge of a winning streak. Let’s see if Morrow can draw on the powers of Felix and lose the game 2-0 tomorrow.
Wilder. - September 20, 2008
Washington might take him
Graham MacAree - September 20, 2008
What would be the reasoning they wouldn't?
kentroyals5 - September 20, 2008
Didn't they get burned by a Boras client this year?
BrianL - September 20, 2008
They didn't sign their first rounder this year..
Aaron Crow. Therefore, the theory goes that they’d like to save some money on their first pick, so they’ll have the cash to sign the compensation pick they get from losing Crow as well.
CKel - September 20, 2008
Crow wasn't a Boras client either, BTW
CKel - September 20, 2008
Sure, but that's no guarantee of anything
Graham MacAree - September 20, 2008
I'm not saying it's set in stone.
I’m just saying that’s a popular theory that’s leading people to believe Washington won’t pick Strasburg.
CKel - September 20, 2008
But people who think in terms of "won'ts vs. might nots" are crazy.
Graham MacAree - September 20, 2008
Is it really?
I mentioned it once. I haven’t heard it anywhere else.
Matthew - September 20, 2008
I don't see why you'd save money on a high pick in order to sign a lower pick.
Teej - September 20, 2008
3.5 over SD
We need WAS to start winning a few games.
Matthew - September 20, 2008
Yeah...although if any team has $$ issues in signing someone it's Washington. *crosses fingers*
kentroyals5 - September 20, 2008
Washington lost Crow they would need a big signing like Strasburg.
Just to keep the fans hopes alive but that’s in my opinion. If we don’t get Strasburg Grant green looks nice…
Slurvey - September 20, 2008
I'm not sure people care enough-
To understand how big of a signing Strasburg would be.
CKel - September 21, 2008
Please please please learn to write properly
Graham MacAree - September 21, 2008
If I may interpret:
Washington lost Crow [so it could be argued] they would
need a big signing like[be willing to spend the required money to sign] StrasburgJust to keep the fans hopes alive but that’s in my opinion.to placate their fans. If we don’t get Strasburg[,] Grant [G]reen looks nice…but that is just my opinion. [Obviously]JI - September 21, 2008
Deserving of a recommendation.
Teej - September 22, 2008
I encourage this.
Matthew - September 22, 2008
Brings me back tot he days when I edited all my friends' papers!
