At first I laughed at the exchange between Felix and Carlos
Then I got mad.
kentroyals5 - September 3, 2008
What a boring looking game.
I’m not even upset I missed it.
Thingray - September 3, 2008
Felix wore some gay shoes the day that picture was taken

Because 'Los thieved his extension money, dammit!

Before Carlos
This picture was taken at Fanfest on January 27th 2007
Robert - September 3, 2008
I know.
I was kidding.
PositivePaul - September 3, 2008
Coach loafers aren't really all that gay.
Aaron Campeau - September 3, 2008
if you're an Italian socialite.
pdb - September 3, 2008
My issue is much more with the flared jeans than the loafers.
Aaron Campeau - September 3, 2008
Yeah, they're both bad, and in combination even worse.
pdb - September 3, 2008
Better than that urban wear look.
Kirsten Schlewitz - September 3, 2008
wow..
How did Seattle fail to score in Texas with some crap pitcher going for the Rangers? They must’ve gotten the Strasburg memo.
JonBBT - September 3, 2008
You HAVE watched this team this year, haven't you?
They can fail to score against anybody, at any time.
pdb - September 3, 2008
We drew zero walks.
I don’t really want to look that up, but we’ve done that like 30 times this season haven’t we?
Llewdor - September 3, 2008
I bet Nippert had a hard time locating today
Gomez - September 3, 2008
Today was the ninth time this season we were shutout.
Proof!
Right above win/loss splits.
andrewgolfsalot - September 3, 2008
Okay, so I looked up the wrong thing.
I’ll go search for this now.
andrewgolfsalot - September 3, 2008
Fifteen times, including today.
April 16 (W)
April 18 (L)
April 19 (L)
April 23 (L)
May 4 (L)
May 28 (W)
June 30 (L)
July 8 (L)
July 11 (L)
July 20 (L)
July 21 (L)
August 7 (W)
August 8 (L)
September 2 (L)
September 3 (L)
Overall: 3-12
andrewgolfsalot - September 3, 2008
More interesting/random:
Four times in there (8 games) they didn’t draw a walk in back to back games.
Eyebrows - September 3, 2008
Indeed.
Also, failing to draw a walk three times in four games between April 16 and 19.
I’ve emailed a few researchers who might be able to find out the record for walkless games in a year.
andrewgolfsalot - September 3, 2008
the lumber
curiously enough, just today mlb.com mentioned that the M’s have been hitting .292 since the break, second in baseball. Thank God there’s only one Nippert.
high brie - September 3, 2008
Jeff, you have an enormous power.
I know this isn’t true, but it seems as if every time you knock a pitcher for being shitty, he shuts down the Mariners lineup, or rather the Mariners lineup lays down for him.
andrewgolfsalot - September 3, 2008
The pitchers ARE shitty
The M’s have a knack for making shitty pitchers look good because they routinely swing at shitty pitches that miss the zone. This leads to outs. I think it’s the power of hacking at work.
Gomez - September 3, 2008
I'm not arguing the pitchers are any good. Just saying that Jeff has ridiculous power.
andrewgolfsalot - September 3, 2008
I gave him crap for that in the game thread, but seriously: Nippert *should* be a good pitcher.
It’s perhaps not surprising that he can be successful for a start here or there.
I feel much worse about the Jeremy Sowers loss(es), or the Doug Waechter abomination.
marc w - September 3, 2008
I've noticed
Jeff Sullivan - September 3, 2008
Felix gives up 1 run and loses.
Silva gives up 6 runs and doesn’t.
Awesome…
ThundaPC - September 3, 2008
I'm blaming this loss on Marlon Byrd
Dewey N - September 3, 2008
600 people showed up for the Braves/Marlins game today.
Link
andrewgolfsalot - September 3, 2008
I wonder how a team like that survives to 2011
(Assuming their stadium gets built by then without further delay.)
Gomez - September 3, 2008
Well, they did "sell" 11,211 tickets today.
andrewgolfsalot - September 3, 2008
Revenue sharing.
And a sub-$30M payroll.
Llewdor - September 3, 2008
Revenue sharing ensures the Marlins will never go away.
pdb - September 3, 2008
Wow.
Even the Expos rarely had fewer than 2,000 fans attend.
Llewdor - September 3, 2008
Definitely not a first for the Marlins.
andrewgolfsalot - September 3, 2008
They played already?
Slept right through it.
Teej - September 3, 2008
I got woken up to the text message from ESPN alerts with the final score.
seattlesundevil - September 3, 2008
Apparently so did the rest of Miami-Dade County
Gomez - September 3, 2008
I didn't think this team could surprise me
but this game snapped our 4 game win streak which is (so far) .the longest of the season As bad as it has been I could have sworn they had a few 5 or 6 game streaks …. sigh….
nwtrev - September 3, 2008
Technically yesterday snapped that streak, but nonetheless, yea, we suck.
