And I just ate my last piece of licorice, and I have like 3 more hours of Vector Calculus homework because my teacher thinks its a good idea to assign 6 million problems. Also, ironically enough, the Betancourt shirt I bought last year doesn’t fit anymore because I put on some weight over the summer working in a fucking Deli. Bleh.
But I don’t think these two GIFs are a good example – in the 2005 one the ball takes a huge hop and takes longer to get out of the infield – the ball is moving a bit faster on the right. Does anyone else notice this or am I just imagining it?
I was thinking more along the lines of where Yuni started. Yuni could’ve been shadowing more up the middle on the left and more towards 3B on the right.
One thing is for sure, Yuni on the right would not make the play on the left today.
On the right gif there were 0 outs and a runner on first,
I assume they were at double-play depth? It looked as if Yuni was playing him to pull, it took him so long to enter the frame.
I love how the ball zigzags its way across the infield dirt, as if it was taunting Yuni. “You ain’t gonna get me! Ah shit, here. I’ll bounce closer to you… and you still missed me fatass! Sup reed”
he’s running a .275 BABIP this season with a .211 LD rate, the highest of his career. He might actually be a decent but unlucky hitter this year (but God, he swings at EVERYTHING)
Wow, I forgot how much skinnier he was back then
OlSalty - September 3, 2008
I'm going to revise my earlier estimate
It looks like he’s gained about 40 lbs since then, and not very much of that muscle.
OlSalty - September 3, 2008
I was JUST thinking the same thing..
Good for me that your comment was on the top, otherwise I may have gotten the dreaded “LATE!” treatment.
seattlesundevil - September 4, 2008
Good God you are turning out a lot of content tonight
Good on you
Corco - September 3, 2008
A lot of image content as it turns out
Jeff Sullivan - September 3, 2008
Pictures are more fun than words anyway
Corco - September 3, 2008
Sometimes : |
Slica - September 3, 2008

:(
BrettJMiller - September 3, 2008
You are on a rampage tonight.
Go drink now!
chinn - September 3, 2008
Oh, and WHO THE FUCK IS DUSTIN NIPPLE?
chinn - September 3, 2008
wow
MFAN - September 3, 2008
DIVE, WTF?
ThundaPC - September 3, 2008
I hate you Jeff Sullivan.
Aaron Campeau - September 3, 2008
The uniform number 5 is cursed
Robert - September 3, 2008
29 seems to be quite lucky.
Aaron Campeau - September 3, 2008
John Olerud sucked
Corco - September 3, 2008
Bagwell and Pujols were terrible too.
JI - September 4, 2008
Our team stupid.
Robert - September 4, 2008
That's bad.
Phil Hatzenbuehler - September 4, 2008
GOOD GOD
Was he eating a sandwich when that ball was hit? FUCK
Gomez - September 3, 2008
Yeah
Jose fucking Vidro would have had that
Corco - September 3, 2008
And the sandwich
Nick S - September 3, 2008
Rec'd!
PositivePaul - September 4, 2008
Well, fuck.
I love how in 05 he travels like twice as far as the hitter does and in 08, he moves like 2 feet
dbroncos31 - September 3, 2008
this video makes me sad
mark sobba - September 3, 2008
Fuck you Paseo
Nick S - September 3, 2008
Is that Willie playing 2B in the left hand gif?
I enjoy how whoever it is appears to just be standing around.
Matthew - September 3, 2008
He didn't need to do anything
Betancourt 2005 could play a gold glove (no caps) 2B and SS simultaneously
Corco - September 3, 2008
It is indeed Willie

Day after Felix’s home debut. He also managed to see a total of 15 pitches in six at bats. The more things change…
Robert - September 3, 2008
But first pitch triple!
BrettJMiller - September 3, 2008
God, now I'm fucking depressed.
Bleh.
joof - September 3, 2008
I thought him and Lopez hand out with Felix.
Why the fuck not join him on the diet he had when he showed up to ST in way better shape?
The conditioning for our team sucks. Scary thing is, Balentien looks like a guy whos going to get rounder.
They need to train with Ichiro to at least not get any bigger. Joining him in his workouts in Japan could help them a ton.
Slica - September 3, 2008
God I miss the old Yunibomber.
idealFX - September 3, 2008
Not debating the fact that he sucks more now
But I don’t think these two GIFs are a good example – in the 2005 one the ball takes a huge hop and takes longer to get out of the infield – the ball is moving a bit faster on the right. Does anyone else notice this or am I just imagining it?
Again, yeah, I know his defense is bad now.
appleshampoo - September 4, 2008
Yeah, the one on the right is a little quicker
but the one on the left is far closer to second base.
Jeff Sullivan - September 4, 2008
Early
OlSalty - September 4, 2008
yep
can’t even see 2B in the second one. “time and space” I suppose.
appleshampoo - September 4, 2008
The ball in the second gif was hit much closer to his starting position, though
OlSalty - September 4, 2008
While I agree,
I was thinking more along the lines of where Yuni started. Yuni could’ve been shadowing more up the middle on the left and more towards 3B on the right.
One thing is for sure, Yuni on the right would not make the play on the left today.
Wilder. - September 4, 2008
This should quiet those who think Yuni is good.
Fin - September 4, 2008
Hahaha
BrettJMiller - September 4, 2008
Seriously,
Where are those ’tards that were defending Yuni now?
Fin - September 4, 2008
Yuni now is dead to me.
EnglishMariner - September 4, 2008
On the right gif there were 0 outs and a runner on first,
I assume they were at double-play depth? It looked as if Yuni was playing him to pull, it took him so long to enter the frame.

Jaejo - September 4, 2008
Remember when I spent this offseason arguing that Yuni was going to be a huge asset this season?
Yeah, I’m an idiot
seattlebruin - September 4, 2008
You are not an idiot
Yuni had the ability. He has just chosen to give a big fat middle finger to Mariner fans everywhere by not giving a shit about his game.
Sec 108 - September 4, 2008
Depressing.
Goose - September 4, 2008
He seems almost tall in the one on the left because of the speed and long strides
Now all his steps to balls he can’t get to seem short and choppy.
kentroyals5 - September 4, 2008
:(
Dewey N - September 4, 2008
It just seems like there's no way this could've happened
Dewey N - September 4, 2008
JI - September 4, 2008
He should go on a high potassium diet
Dewey N - September 4, 2008
I feel sick just looking at this.
BrianL - September 4, 2008
In all fairness
we don’t know where Yuni was playing on each of those two plays. He may have been more in the hole on the second play.
But is certainly worse than in 2005.
tait644 - September 4, 2008
Seems unlikely with a man on first
Jeff Sullivan - September 4, 2008
In reference to Yuni's offense
he’s running a .275 BABIP this season with a .211 LD rate, the highest of his career. He might actually be a decent but unlucky hitter this year (but God, he swings at EVERYTHING)
seattlebruin - September 4, 2008
I'm sure that he's a slightly better hitter now than he was in 02005.
The net loss is still enormous.
Aaron Campeau - September 4, 2008
Well he may be a better hitter than he was in 2007
his IF fly rate, HR/FB and K% are down, his LD and walks (believe it or not) are up, and he’s pulling the ball less
BABIP seems to be a huge culprit here, going from .299 with a .199 LD rate to .275 with a .211 LD rate
seattlebruin - September 4, 2008
I'm really hoping he goes on a tear to end 2008
Dewey N - September 4, 2008
I hope the new GM knows this and has Ned Colletti on speed dial
JI - September 4, 2008
