This was my last game at Safeco this year, *sniff*
I watched the later innings from outside the bullpens. Two notable events
1) Two dudes got kicked out for heckling the Ranger’s bullpen (specifically O’Day). Now, I was listening to the radio broadcast on my headphones at the time, but from what I could tell, they weren’t saying anything obscene, just the general “you suck” etc. that home fans layer on the other team. Isn’t this part of home field advantage? Lame.
2) At some point in the later innings, Wetteland took one of the bullpen warm-up balls and was going to toss it to the father of a little kid (he does this a lot), and some douche jumped in with a DB-like move and intercepted the ball and ran toward the visitor’s bullpen. The cops immediately went after him and all I saw was them putting him in the handcuff stance and ushering him out through one of the bullpen market doors. I thought this was a little harsh (just get the ball back, eh?) but apparently he didn’t want to give the ball back. Anyway, what a douche. Was hard to feel sorry for him.
And, a BS for Lowe and a L for Aardsma. Tough night for the bullpen…
