My favorite thing about division series game threads is that it exposes us to pitcher photos we wouldn't otherwise have seen. Chris Carpenter looks like a less attractive Scott Foley.

“Let’s address Felix. There are several questions regarding Felix’s future with this organization. First of all it goes without saying what a tremendous year Felix had and what he means to this ballclub. The reality is we still have Felix under control for two more years. To address any particular player on the club, specifically with details, would not be in the best interest of the player or the organization. Any time you’re discussing any type of contracts there are three parties – the player, the organization and the agent. What you hope happens is that all three have the same goal.”
But that would be wrong. He opened up on a couple of topics, I can’t think of the specific things he said, and a lot of it was body language, tone, and timing. He was pretty funny.
And it wasn’t even really close either. He tagged him in the chest while sliding, I think the laws of physics dictate it would have been impossible for him to have been out in that situation. But, umpires.
I thought it was cool, but I rarely needed a gamecast/gameday window with MLB.TV. And with MLB.TV and LL game threads open, I was already using too much CPU power to run anything more.
The thing is, another World Series wouldn't make the Sawx fans any more annoying.
A Yankees win would probably cause some Sawx fans to jump ship back over to Jeter’s side… and if someone in the NL wins, we don’t have to deal with the jackass fan base showing up for a series or two a year next year.
But I think a deal with the Yankees would involve either a lot of money changing hands or a 3-way deal.
We all know Cashman likes to go overboard, though, so I wouldn’t mind a deal that puts Felix in pinstripes.
Nuke’s scared because his eyelids are jammed and his old man’s here. We need a live… is it a live rooster? We need a live rooster to take the curse off Jose’s glove and nobody seems to know what to get Millie or Jimmy for their wedding present. Is that about right?
It was kind of a pointless chat. Z mostly gave platitudes and non-answers.
In other words, he didn’t say anything we don’t already know—he wants to acquire good players, Gutz exceeded expectations, he liked Griffey’s leadership, etc.

Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Reasons I want the Rockies to win:
Denver is awesome, purple is awesome, underdogs, repeat champions are boring.
Reason I don’t want the Rockies to win:
Run by Ned Flanders, they somehow make purple look terrible, they already had their feel-good underdog moment and now they’re annoying.
Aaron Campeau - October 7, 2009
Jim Tracy is annoying too

Wilder. - October 7, 2009
GO DUENSING!
gregrabble - October 7, 2009
WOOOOOOOOOOOO DUENSING!
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Is it
Doon-sing?
Dwen-sing?
Doonzing?
pdb - October 7, 2009
TBS said Dunsing
so I’m going with that.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Works for me.
pdb - October 7, 2009
Isn't TBS the Donny Don't of baseball broadcasting?
Eyebrows - October 7, 2009 via mobile
They all have knives?
pdb - October 7, 2009
Fucked if I know
but I haven’t heard any other pronunciations. I suppose I could check the video highlights on MLB.com but I can’t be arsed.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Maybe "den-sing"?
Phil Hatzenbuehler - October 7, 2009
Twins Radio guys
are going with Donesing.
Of course they can’t pronounce Ichiro right so eh.
bluemax - October 7, 2009
damn furriners and their crazy names
why they can’t all be named Smith, Jones, or Thompson is beyond me.
pdb - October 7, 2009
Or Agbonlahor
Just good old English names
Graham MacAree - October 7, 2009
I just wonder if Joe Bloggs is bitter that his name has been co-opted for a communication medium
pdb - October 7, 2009
Has anyone ever met someone whose surname is Bloggs?
Graham MacAree - October 7, 2009
Not that I know of.
pdb - October 7, 2009
Dwensing has been my guess
Dewey N - October 7, 2009
Doon-sing
Dünsing
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
The umlauted "u" is actually closer to an "eh" sound.
But with a more rounded mouth.
Phil Hatzenbuehler - October 7, 2009
Then it's that.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Actually, what I just said is completely wrong.
It’s the umlauted “o” that get’s the “eh” sound. The umlauted “u” is more of an “oo”. You were completely right.
I’m a fucking idiot. My last name is Hatzenbuehler, which was originally Hatzenbüler
Phil Hatzenbuehler - October 7, 2009
Ok, that's what I thought. Don't worry about it.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
I always thought that was a "you" sound
Dewey N - October 7, 2009
No I didn't
Dewey N - October 7, 2009
Yep, you're right.
For some reason I couldn’t think of a way to phonetically illustrate the sound. It turns out, there’s a word in the english language that works.
I need to bang a slump-buster, obviously. It’s been a rough couple of posts.
Phil Hatzenbuehler - October 7, 2009
So the other game started.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
AAAAAAAAAnd off-running!
ThundaPC - October 7, 2009
Yeah, wanna bitch some more about being snubbed when Burnett pitches, Posada?

Joe Mauer sucks
Graham MacAree - October 7, 2009
but oh those dreamy sideburns
pdb - October 7, 2009
Too bad the M's don't have a dreamy mansicle lefty catcher that hits a ton
Kermit. - October 7, 2009
I'd stop being a casual fan and go to the occasional game if that were the case
pdb - October 7, 2009
It's too bad that your face sucks
Graham MacAree - October 7, 2009
Mmmm.... tell me more!
marc w - October 7, 2009
Ewwww.
Properly chastised for trolling, yes indeed.
Kermit. - October 7, 2009
I'm hoping to get a black lefty catcher.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Van Jones has come available
lemonverbena - October 7, 2009

Choketober!
Dewey N - October 7, 2009
There's only one Choketober!
pdb - October 7, 2009
Is there evidence to the contrary
lemonverbena - October 7, 2009
Yes there is!
Dewey N - October 7, 2009
If there was would you care or is your opinion already set?
pdb - October 7, 2009
Probably I wouldn't care
lemonverbena - October 7, 2009
Then I won't bother getting you the proof which I assure you does exist!
Thanks for saving me some research time.

I wanted Alex to Stay-Rod much more than I did Griffey, so I heckle him like a jilted lover at every opportunity
lemonverbena - October 7, 2009
So we're all Twins people here, right?
And Phillies? Am I on the right side today?
section331 - October 7, 2009
I'm still holding out hope for a late Mariners charge but I think time is running out for them for 2009
pdb - October 7, 2009
which is a long way of saying that you should feel free to have your own opinion as to who you want to win
pdb - October 7, 2009
Oh, I do
It’s just that I may have been the only one here who wanted the Tigs to win yesterday. ;)
section331 - October 7, 2009
I was with you for Motown
lemonverbena - October 7, 2009
Yay
Unfortunately, the team was not. :(
section331 - October 7, 2009
Hyphen and Morrow are out checking out the new Halo
So I think they’ve decided not to go to the playoffs….
section331 - October 7, 2009
Can you play Halo and watch a game
or would you get killed a lot?
msb - October 7, 2009
Killed, I'm guessing.
I can’t play Halo at ALL, so the question is moot for me. :/ I tried it once, and I couldn’t make my robot move very well. :(
section331 - October 7, 2009
Twins and Cards for me.
And yes, Phillies against the Rockies.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Conditioned to root for the underdog, so I'm with you on the Twins.
Name recognition with the Phillies and think Raul would look sexy with a ring so sure.
Kermit. - October 7, 2009
Ok, so I'm NOT the only one
Who normally goes underdog.
I think Raul needs a ring, sure why not? The other alternative is, as Positive Paul says, GS52…
section331 - October 7, 2009
If Raul got a ring he'd probably just drop it once he got his hands on it anyway
pdb - October 7, 2009
Forgot about him, don't take this the wrong way but I don't care much for bullpen guys.
Kermit. - October 7, 2009
You're allowed.
But this is ex-Mariner pride, more than bullpen anything…
I wonder if there is a pill that can rid me of my unnatural liking of relief pitchers. :/
section331 - October 7, 2009
Alex Rodriguez!
Wilder. - October 7, 2009
Aaaand you lost me.
section331 - October 7, 2009
Ex-Mariner pride!
Unless he is someone you would like to forget about.
Wilder. - October 7, 2009
I've just had enough of him, is all.
There is such a thing as oversaturation.
section331 - October 7, 2009
Or apparently pitchers who wear their hats all douchylike
Graham MacAree - October 7, 2009
There's that
At least he doesn’t leave the fucking tag on.
section331 - October 7, 2009
If sure he would if he could
Graham MacAree - October 7, 2009
I dunno
Sherrill seems like a non-tag guy to me. I could be wrong.
section331 - October 7, 2009
He did it first.
He did move to douchyville, douchyville moved to him.
marc w - October 7, 2009
He should have abandoned them
Graham MacAree - October 7, 2009
(Actually, I agree with you on that)
marc w - October 7, 2009
I'm rooting for, in order...
Rockies
Cardinals
Twins
Dodgers
Angels
Phillies
Yankees
Red Sox
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
I may wind up Red Sox
Depending on what happens. I would really like to see the Yanks eat it. But that’s just me.
section331 - October 7, 2009
I loathe most all Red Sox fans and they've won too much recently.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
The thing is, another World Series wouldn't make the Sawx fans any more annoying.
A Yankees win would probably cause some Sawx fans to jump ship back over to Jeter’s side… and if someone in the NL wins, we don’t have to deal with the jackass fan base showing up for a series or two a year next year.
Two Rs and Two Ls - October 7, 2009
My Red Sox fan friend
Is not a bandwaggoner, nor is he annoying, so I’m good with my choice – but I am more than familiar with your point.
section331 - October 7, 2009
Hey if the Yankees somehow get creamed by the Twins they might need another $20 million a year pitcher
Kermit. - October 7, 2009
I just hope they can scrape up the money somewhere the poor dears
pdb - October 7, 2009
Why sign another pitcher when they can just trade for Felix Hernandez?
Graham MacAree - October 7, 2009
SHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
section331 - October 7, 2009
Ugh.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Theo'll get him first
pdb - October 7, 2009
What do they have to trade for Felix?
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Money! I want a 4 team trade this time.
Kermit. - October 7, 2009
Cano, Gardner, and $20 million?
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Like I know anything about trades.
I’m rooting for bunts and suicide squeezes.
Kermit. - October 7, 2009
Jesus Montero
Graham MacAree - October 7, 2009
Do you think Cano, Gardner, and Montero would do it?
I’m not sure GMZ pulls the trigger on that.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Beats me.
Graham MacAree - October 7, 2009
Montero is a special bat, but almost certainly not a catcher.
If he was guaranteed to stick at catcher, it’s probably enough. He’s not, so I doubt it.
That’s just me, though.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
There would be other fun considerations too
Graham MacAree - October 7, 2009
True, but their system isn't very fun.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
They have enough to start a conversation
Graham MacAree - October 7, 2009
Indeed.
But I think a deal with the Yankees would involve either a lot of money changing hands or a 3-way deal.
We all know Cashman likes to go overboard, though, so I wouldn’t mind a deal that puts Felix in pinstripes.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
We don't need Melky Cabrera anymore.
Even though he is such an awesome prospect.
/things that go through the mind of a Yankees fan
Wilder. - October 7, 2009
I wouldn't count on that if I were you.
jackass fan bases will always show up.

Benne - October 7, 2009
Well...
Nuke’s scared because his eyelids are jammed and his old man’s here. We need a live… is it a live rooster? We need a live rooster to take the curse off Jose’s glove and nobody seems to know what to get Millie or Jimmy for their wedding present. Is that about right?

The ESPN “The Machine” commercial?

No, although that is one of the best ESPN commercials ever.
This one is about how you’ll tell your kids about how fucking awesome Pujols is.

lailaihei - October 7, 2009
They will let him throw until his arm falls off

I think if it's close, they'll pull him after 7 or after 100ish pitches.

I believe he is type B.
section331 - October 7, 2009
At least, that's what that Elias fellow says...
section331 - October 7, 2009
There's not much of a chance of the Yankees offering arbitration
Even if he does, signing a type-B doesn’t really have a negative consequence for us, as they only get a comp round pick, and not our first rounder
seattlebruin - October 7, 2009
I am already bored of the Yankees.
mark sobba - October 7, 2009
This game became very abruptly sad. :(
section331 - October 7, 2009
Anyone get any questions in on the Jack Z chat for the times?
w00tah - October 7, 2009
Yeah, but they were both deflected and not answered specifically.
I’m “Eric D”
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
The org is pretty tight-lipped about anything that means anything.
Which is good, but annoying at the same time.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
It was kind of a pointless chat. Z mostly gave platitudes and non-answers.
In other words, he didn’t say anything we don’t already know—he wants to acquire good players, Gutz exceeded expectations, he liked Griffey’s leadership, etc.
Benne - October 7, 2009
PLEASE a bases loaded op for Mauer... PLEASE
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Watch this wagon burner hit a homerun
Kermit. - October 7, 2009
So... will TBS switch over to the other game at 6:37?
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Gardenhire is an idiot.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Non-Mariner games are really freakin long.
JamMasterJesus - October 7, 2009
I wish I was Joe Mauer. Don't you?
JamMasterJesus - October 7, 2009
Yes plz
bluemax - October 7, 2009
I' want to be Joe Mauer
For the side-burns alone
Trenchtown - October 7, 2009
Well this game blows.
Goose - October 7, 2009
Girardi managing this like a one-run game.
svart aske - October 7, 2009
No kidding. 5 run game, nuke that bullpen.
Doesn’t make a lot of sense
Kermit. - October 7, 2009
All of the pitchers haven't pitched in a since at least Sunday.
And Game 2 is Friday, day off tomorrow.
Not bad move.
Wilder. - October 7, 2009
I just realized I read that as Gardenhire, not Girardi.
So yeah I can follow that logic
Kermit. - October 7, 2009
I don't think he can lose this series if he tries.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
C'mon, Mo can be had--
hit one out!
msb - October 7, 2009
Walking Pujols already?
drblacknwhite - October 7, 2009
He hasn't hit the ball remotely hard for three weeks
Poochie - October 7, 2009
Seriously IBBing Albert Pujols in this situation?
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Pujols IBB :(
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
That was a ball.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Four balls.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Five balls.
Fuck baseball
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Comeback!
Wilder. - October 7, 2009
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
Somebody dropped a camera at the end of the Yankees game.
ThundaPC - October 7, 2009
Fuck the Yankees.
Let’s go Cards!
Goose - October 7, 2009
Cards/Yanks would be a pretty good WS.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Fuck.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Here we go, baby!
ThundaPC - October 7, 2009
I'd like the radio feed to switch back to the game coverage, and away from postgame stuff.
I really don;t care about the Yankees.
msb - October 7, 2009
.
JeterJeterJeterJeterJeterJeterJeterAlexJeterJeterJeterJeterJeterJeterMarianoJeterJeter.
msb - October 7, 2009
So just like the rest of the broadcast?
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Kemp baby!
Woo!
bluemax - October 7, 2009
The difference in the game
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Pujols is good.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Orlando Hudson.
abender20 - October 7, 2009
What of him?
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Should be starting.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Oh right, yeah.
I got him confused with Orlando Cabrera in my head.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Belliard has been awful tonight.
bluemax - October 7, 2009
What a clean-cut type young man.
msb - October 7, 2009
It's going to be Dodgers/Yankees isn't it?
:(
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
I can take Dodgers/Yankees if it means Torre rubs the Steinbrenners face in it...
msb - October 7, 2009
I don't want to hear about that storyline every time I open my ears!
Oh god…
That’s what is going to happen, isn’t it?
JamMasterJesus - October 7, 2009
I am still rooting for a Twins/Cards World Series.
mark sobba - October 7, 2009
Me too.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
That's my main objection.
That and I dislike both teams.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
I refuse to believe that hurt as much as Ethier would like me to believe it did.
Aaron Campeau - October 7, 2009
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST HE'S NOT OBLVIOUS HE'S JUST NOT A RETARD
Aaron Campeau - October 7, 2009
Balls.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Holy crap, that was retardedly awesome.
ThundaPC - October 7, 2009
WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU THROWING YOU DUMBASS!
Slurvey - October 7, 2009
I was trying to figure out how to type the arc of that ball....
msb - October 7, 2009
That was amazing.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
So Ronnie Belliard is a precedent for rotund second basemen on winning teams.
yuniform - October 7, 2009
And Schumaker is setting a precedent for OFs converted to second basemen on winning teams.
Ackley anyone?
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
GO CARDS YES YES YES
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
YEAH!
JamMasterJesus - October 7, 2009
WEAVER WARMING UP
GAME OVER
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
"I'm clutch in the playoffs guyz"
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Aw I missed it
Go Cards!
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
IBB #2
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Jeff Weaver!
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Please homer Ludwick.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
What sort of America is it that allows Jeff Weaver to make the playoffs while Felix sits at home
Corco - October 7, 2009
Well MLB.TV picked a perfect time to crap out.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
that's because TBS is crapping out too
Corco - October 7, 2009
That's alright then.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Sounds like TBS thinks they are having technical difficulties ....
msb - October 7, 2009
Wait, did they just make a Jeff Weaver is drunk joke on the broadcast?
Goose - October 7, 2009
This postseason will be like a visit from Bad Mariner Rotations Past
msb - October 7, 2009
Bah.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
It's ok. Weaver will get 1+ innings more to "do work"
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
So after seeing Schumaker make a decent 2B, I'm not so opposed to trying out Ackley there.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Anyone?
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
I wouldn't mind either.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
He'd probably spend more time in the minors though.
Slurvey - October 7, 2009
I wasn't expecting to see him until at least september
It wouldn’t take him more than a season to adjust to playing second would it?
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Schumaker went from never playing 2B to being ~average in 2-3 months.
Ackley is probably at least as good of an athlete, I don’t think it would take him more than a season.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
And if it's not working out after 2-3 months, stick him back in the OF and let him finish the season there.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
CF is more valuable than 2B.
Aaron Campeau - October 7, 2009
Not if you have a good centerfielder but do not have a good secondbaseman!
Poochie - October 7, 2009
How do you figure?
Dewey N - October 7, 2009
My guess would be that CF has better high end talent, but 2B is stronger across the board
Poochie - October 7, 2009
Was that the Daily Double sound effect?
Goose - October 7, 2009
Shiiiiiiit.
Carpenter is not sharp tonight.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Phew.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
DAMN Randy wolf has really blue eyes
50 cent - October 7, 2009
To bad Jim Wolf doesn't get to ump the postseason
msb - October 7, 2009
I bet he's hung like a horse too
Aaron Campeau - October 7, 2009
HEY GUYS ITS JI
JIM THOME
bluemax - October 7, 2009
NOT JIM THOME!!
JamMasterJesus - October 7, 2009
So... how about bringing Glaus in on a one or two year deal next season?
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
GS52!
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Pear sighting!
msb - October 7, 2009
I'd forgotten he was with LA
msb - October 7, 2009
Ryan somehow got hold of Rollie Finger's mustache
msb - October 7, 2009
I've been admiring it all game.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Me too, it's like I didn't even miss 70s baseball.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
A. Boone over on the radio side just said he was talking with Jo-El, and that he wants Ryan to be his SS forever and ever.
msb - October 7, 2009
Hey, George could have walked Albert.
msb - October 7, 2009
Well this isn't going well.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
I really really want to see Broxton bat.
Please no DP.
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
So the excitement level of all today's games combined is no where near that one-game playoff
ThundaPC - October 7, 2009
This three-game thread has roughly half the comments that the DET/MIN one had.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
There will be other good games, just today sucked.
And all the teams I wanted to win, lost =(
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
SHIT AWESOME
lailaihei - October 7, 2009
Good lord.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Do they have to play that goddamn Iron Man riff after each pitch?
Goose - October 7, 2009
YES DAMMIT PUMP IT UP!
JamMasterJesus - October 7, 2009
WHERE'S THE RIFF THAT TIME? HUH?
Goose - October 7, 2009
I love that riff
in fact, I’ve muted the game and put the song on.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
It's goddamn retarded when they play AFTER EVERY FUCKING PITCH BROXTON THROWS!
Goose - October 7, 2009
Mute!
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Didn't this game start at 6:30-ish?
Kermit. - October 7, 2009
TBS Sucks
Actually all major pro sports events have too damn many commercials.
bluemax - October 7, 2009
I noticed this earlier. Mariners games were really fast for some reason.
We were spoiled
JamMasterJesus - October 7, 2009
The early part of the season there weren't any lefties in the bullpen.
I kind of liked that, no matchups in the late innings. I’m not sure if that explains it, but off the cuff I remember thinking that at the time.
Kermit. - October 7, 2009
Weak offense and good defense make for quick innings.
Teej - October 8, 2009
GOGOGOGOGOGO!
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Nuts.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Gay?
Goose - October 7, 2009
Gay.
Eyeball Kid - October 7, 2009
Super homo with a side anti-climactic
JamMasterJesus - October 7, 2009
*side of
JamMasterJesus - October 7, 2009
We must have had like 25-30 pitching changes today (and one complete game).
ThundaPC - October 7, 2009
Woo
Dodgers win!
bluemax - October 7, 2009
I hope the exact opposite outcomes happen tomorrow.
JamMasterJesus - October 7, 2009
Gay
Poochie - October 7, 2009
