No need to be so hyperbolic, Jeff.

The Yankees winning will not destroy the sport.

AJ Burnett again?!

I SWEAR TO GOD HE PITCHED THE LAST 3 GAMES

Better him than Sabathia.
Wait, maybe I'm thinking of Andy Pettitte.

Oh, whatever.

Sabathia pitched last night
Yeah, like I'm watching the world series
That's my motto!
Let me borrow that top.
Okay!
We should have had a Not Watching the World Series party.
That party is every night at my house.
This is a little tight on me, but I like it!
Go baseball!
I can hardly believe it's still happening!
When does the fun START?
Gooooo Cliff Lee

Please be magical and dominating

I still can't believe Tampa Bay had the Backstreet Boys singing the National Anthem last year.
DON'T SAY THAT
Then I would move to Venezuela where there is baseball.
.

That one on the leg looks ouchie.
He'll have to have some fluid drained, for sure!
And there may be a visit to Dr James Andrews in his future, as well.
Lucky Yankees, all their hit balls fall in or find a hole.
They're famous, but only rockstars get that kind of play
Even better, it appears Lee's getting squeezed
And Burnett, as well ...
Yep, guess it's just a tight zone tonight
Joe West is first base umpire, should make for some blown calls at least.
He's lucky he didn't eat that ball.
GOOD GOD I LOVE CHASE UTLEY
Utley goes deep!
Baseball needs more Chase Utleys.
8 WAR players with 4 WAR stardom?
Utley has been crazy good this series.
He must be Clutch.
Hey guys, how's the world series going?
More interesting than last night so far.
So, if the guy who was supposed to have tarped off your deck, and cut a herking big hole in it, didn't do it and he is late for the 5:00 appointment to fix the faucet

is it ok to assume he isn’t going to show today and to start dinner?

The Yanks seem to be excelling at stall tactics this series.
A woman I work with has been very tolerant about all this

but this morning, quietly hanging on the coatrack, was a venerable satin Yankees jacket.

You set it on fire, right?
I didn't even accidently knock it down and trample on it ....

she is actually a by-birthright fan.

I love how the trampling would also occur

Accidentally. ;)

Whoa! WS games on back to back nights

This is insanity

In the old days, George would have been agitating to get Utley in pinstripes, NOW.
Looks like Victorino is out of the game.
Probably out of the series. I'm betting that finger is broken.
Gameday still shows him in the lineup
"Yanks' mound meetings slow Series, give MLB pause"

says Ben Walker

He's Werth his weight in gold!
I wonder how much the Dodgers are kicking themselves for letting him go.
Rauuuuuuuuuuuuuuulll!
Go suck the barbed cock of you-know-who, A.J.
Seriously, what a shameful showing by Burnett.
Needless to say, I'm delighted by his dishonor.
I hope this alliteration was unintentional, because that would ruin it.
Totally unintentional
Yay Raul, clutchy.

Te Phillies smell blood.

The Phillies are slow base runners.
I wanna see Cliff Lee work his way on base here.
ASK AND I SHALL RECEIVE
So I guess there will be more baseball.
Jon Miller just reminded us that there was still time for the Yanks to come back

don’t go turning that radio off, now.

This reminds me of the Mariners clobbering the yankees in Game 4 of the 2001 ALCS.
You mean game 3?
Was it?

In my mind it was the Saturday game before they knocked us out of the playoffs Sunday night.

I can't even recall anymore.

It is just one horrible blur.

I looked it up

I can’t even remember that series anymore.

We destroyed them Sat, Arthur Rhodes Yankee Stadium Experience was on Sunday and we got eliminated on Monday.
What hurts more, Victorino's finger, or AJ's confidence?
I liked how Werth just said fuck it and circled the bases anyways.
Gardner ruined Werth's birthday with that catch.
4 runs is not enough breathing room against the Yankees.
Hahahaha fuck you horhay.
Is it over?
Cliff Lee says no.
Taint over til I say it's over
There is a Wikipedia entry for this. I despise you, America.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It_ain’t_over_’til_the_fat_lady_sings

Are you calling Fogel a fat lady?
I am proud to say I have shed some of my unwanted pounds, sister
Perhaps a rotund female?
Nothing wrong with a little cushion, pal
Hopefully I won't have to hear about Reggie fucking Jackson every year now.
Excuse me I have to go google "Chase Utley girlfriend?"
Utley is just raking the yanks staff

That was hammered.

It was back to back in one at bat since that foul ball went out too.
I want a walk off
Mr Utley

Needs some of that Axe shampoo stuff…

Two WS record-tying ABs in a row.
This game meets Matthew's definition of a must win so I feel compelled to watch it.
RAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUL!
RAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RAUUUUULLLLLL!!!!!
THIS IS BORING
I disagree. I have enjoyed this series.
Nice Raul, just nice
Rauuuuuuuuuuulllllll!!!!
Raul hit a home run on my birthday!!!!!!!
That a boy Raul!
Raul can't hit lefties
Raul and Utley give me a good reason to actually like the Phillies as opposed to merely hating the Yankees.
And Moyer too, even though he's a bag of suck that didn't even make the postseason roster this year.
That is some lefty specialist
We never heard them specify what he specialized in w/r/t lefties.

It would seem his specialty is in getting lit the fuck up by them.

I wonder what would have happened...

Had we kept Raul and he was part of those 2002 and 2003 teams? Fuck. Oh well, I think the Phillies are going to win this Series now.

Don't fool yourself.

The odds still heavily favor the Yankees, even with Pettite and Sabathia going on three days’ rest.

He probably wouldn't have gotten that much playing time since our manager didn't even bother to learn how to pronounce his name.
He would have sat on the bench and continued not playing and probably never developed into a player

Even if he started, we would have never acquired Randy Winn, which means no JoeJessica or Foppert. That’s not a world I want to live in

...AND HERE COME THE YANKEES!
Up by 6 runs and I'm still not really confident here.
Same here

Think Manuel’ll put Lidge in today?

Deja Vu?
RAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUL
PULL HIM! PULL HIM NOW!
DE-FENSE, DUN DUN, DE-FENSE
Oh Raul, you haven't changed.
"Ibanez, never known for his defense" sez Jon Miller
Oh he's known for it, alright.
He used to be known for having a cannon for an arm, if I'm not mistaken
Leaving a pitcher in through the fourth time thru the lineup is a BAD idea.
Lee had two easy outs botched by Rollins and Ibanez. It's not his fault at all.
It's always a bad idea and Lee was hit hard.

Almost any reliever is better.

Raul hit a dinger and then "fielded" something? Is that about the size of it?
Yep

Same old Raul.

+1 run with the bat, -2 runs with the glove.

Sounds about right.

Buck

“The win is the only decision he can get tonight”

Atta way to kill 10 seconds buddy

Hahaha Victorino is pissed
Hey Manuel, maybe you should have listened to your centerfielder.
My god

they’re actually going to come back and win aren’t they?

Well, other than the fact that Philly currently has a 96% chance of winning.
We're in Brad Lidge territory!
I really think the Yankees would rather win the series at home in front of their adoring fans.
Why the fuck are we redoing Pinocchio as some retarded robot movie?
Why the fuck are we redoing Astro Boy?
That dramatic montage was stupid.
Nice range Jetes.
Why bring in Matt Stairs when you probably want to Bruntlett in this situation?
Professional Hitter.
Matt Stairs is made of Twinkies.

And that spray stuff you put in a flat tire.

No Brad Lidge :(
DO NOT FUCK THIS UP
STRETCH STRETCH STRETCH
YES YES YES YES YES
Shut up Corco.
I keep trying to punch this guy pitching

But the TV is getting in the way…

Jeter is going to go deep here isn't he?
oh god I'm rooting for Jeter to get a clutch hit

I hate my life

What's the Phillies WE% right now?
I wonder what Brad Lidge is thinking about right now?
Where he's going on vacation after this clusterfuck is over?
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
ok that makes me feel good inside
The captain!
Jeter is human

Holy shit!

Wait, are you sure that wasn't A-Rod?? It had to be A-Rod.
Bahahahahaha
Holy shit that place is loud!

I love it!

Wow

Madson is just awful…

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
SHUT UP CORCO!
This guys needs a volume control.
Just end this fucker!
Damon is a pest.
If by pest you mean excellent hitter, then I agree with you wholeheartedly.
BRING PARK BACK IN
Tex has his doucheface on.

It’s serious business!

Does he ever take it off?
I think there is probably some sort of pre-game pill

That enhances it….

I heard

he wakes up with that face on

JESUS CHRIST TEX WANTS TO BE A HERO

DON’T BE A HERO TEX JUST GET A HIT

Ah I see where your going with this.

I retract my earlier statments.

I think you must know something I don't
COOOOOOMMMMMMEEEE OOONNNN!!!
Yes!

Baseball lives on!

And we're going back to New York!

This has been a pretty damn good series so far I gotta say.

well that's a taco
BACK TO THE BRONX!

More baseball.

I don't give a shit what the rest of you people say, I have been thoroughly entertained by this series.
I agree, this has been a lot of fun so far
I'm enjoying this too!
Yeah, this series is good... but overall a pretty disappointing and lame playoffs.

I mean, game 163 was far, far more entertaining than any game thus far in the playoffs.

Agree, maybe the best game ever.
Perhaps you've forgotten the fabled game 163 of 2007.
Bad call ruined it
I hate you.

That was the best game ever.

Besides

Imagine if our hated rivals the Padres had won. I shudder to think how this would affect the already bitter winter of our rivalry.

Many great moments to be sure

but personally I can’t stand when a game is decided by the umps. The Rockies probably would have won anyway, but they shouldn’t have won that way.

Baseball is generally decided by the decisions of the umpires.
Most baseball games do not end on clearly wrong calls
In fact unless its all swinging strikeouts and homeruns entirely decided by umps.
How would I know?

I haven’t left my basement in three years.

Robert is stealing my words.
Meh.

That was a great game, with a great ending. To me it looked like he touched the plate, and I’ve never really seen anything absolute that shows otherwise.

Plus holy shit that was ballsy.
No kidding. A Boise State level of entertainment.
I never saw a conclusive replay either.
Upon further reflection, you're right

The play really wasn’t all that clear. Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t. So you have a good point about that. And I never denied that the game had great moments, and the ending was exciting, but the only thing is I guess I wish it was more clear. As do you guys, I’m sure, I like to KNOW that the winner was rightful, but still y’all are right that it was overall a classic.

Sober Mark Grace is boring.
Player of the Game: Cliff Lee

Why does the media hate Chase Utley?

There's only room for one white middle infielder

and his name is Derek Jeter

wouldn't that still leave half a space for another infielder?
Too much grease in his hair?
That was far more difficult than it needed to be.
No, Duh Headline Writing:

“Mistakes Are Making a Difference in the World Series”

There is no way to phonetically transcribe Ozzie Guillen.

and what’s the deal with Karros’ hair?

Something amazing: Chase Utley has a 1.121 OPS in the 2009 playoffs

Something more amazing: Albert Pujols has a 1.108 OPS since 2008

Pujols was disappointing this year!
So is that like 110%, or 112.1% because I'm bad at the maths
Looking at Albert Pujols' career stats always makes me gape in awe
Me too, but then...

I remember that he plays in the NL central and I begin to wonder, is he really the best right hander of all time or is he just a very good right hander who looks like the best ever because of where he plays?

Much closer to the former than the latter.
He hits just as good on the road
