January 9th, USSM Event

UPDATE: 12/21 - We got a bigger venue. 250 more tickets up for sale. Here's the sale link.

Go ahead and plan on being there. Here's Dave's announcement of the event - Saturday, January 9th, Seattle Central Library, 1-5pm. It'll cost you $10 to get in - see Dave's post for details on how to get tickets (new process!) - but once you're through the door, you'll get four hours with some sexy bloggers and some less sexy but far more intelligent members of the Mariner front office. These events have always gone well. Even during the Bavasi days. But the last two in particular have been incredible, so this isn't something you'll want to miss. If nothing else, consider it $10 to kiss the feet of the guys who got Cliff Lee, and if you're lucky you'll get smarter by osmosis.

Only 275 seats, so act fast. Dilly-dallying isn't going to work to your benefit, as a sellout is a virtual certainty. You guys realize we're almost World Series contenders, right?

If you're planning on leaving a comment under this post announcing your disappointment that you won't be able to attend, thanks, that's super important and relevant to everyone. No, we're not going to have a webcam or a podcast.

(Note: these are considered USSM events because Dave does most of the work and most of the talking. As such, feel free to direct all your bitching his way. Not my fault!)

How about I leave a comment saying I've ordered my ticket and fully plan to attend?
That's far less annoying
So just to let the rest of you know how quick this may sell out, I ordered my ticket about 15 minutes after Jeff put this post up

and I’m #42.

They really need to find a bigger venue for this
Yeah, it would appear so.

I’m still amazed at how much something like this has grown. At the first USSM/LL event, I don’t think there was more than 30-40 of us there at Cheney.

There were still only 40 people or so at the pizza thing on Capitol Hill.

It wasn’t until recently that these things really started to take off.

I’m going to have to get off this stupid school internet line and back to my apartment so I can get my ticket, and quick.

That's the last one I was able to make until this one ...

I remember Derek did a little bit about who the Mariners might try to acquire at the trade deadline. This was in the offseason after the last 90+ win team. I semi-snarkily should be whether the Mariners would be buyers or sellers at the break.

I had them pegged as about a .500 team, and I was about the most pessimistic of the Mariners blogging corps at that time. As events showed, I had been wildly optimistic.

Frightening, isn't it?

Although I seem to also remember that as being the one where Dave was on a roll and Derek and Shaw had to step back and let him do his thing. Good fun had by all.

And then towards the end I got into some discussion with Dave as to whether Saunders was a prospect or not.

My how the times have changed…

He wasn't on a roll.

He was On Fire!

You're right!

My mistake.

Feel free to find me one
They had tens of thousands of people on hand for Edgar's Mariner HoF induction ceremony
Probably a dumb question, but have you looked into the Seattle Center?

http://www.seattlecenter.com/booking/

381 seats (400 capacity) at McCaw Hall.

Don’t know the price, though.

KeyArena.

Its probably available.

Why don't you guys ever hold this the one weekend I'm in Seattle every two years?!
Ask Dave
Sorry, just trying to be a dick.
Me too
OK, I'll send him an e-mail asking about will call tickets..
Ignoring the warning in the post

Dammit this should have been 7 days earlier.

Is Jeff going to be in attendance?
That's the plan

In fact I think pretty much all main LL/USSM mods will be there.

Even Mr. Brett?
Depends on what Robert chooses to wear
I will take this as an open invitation.
LL after party?
Where one could take the old "that blog that drinks a lot" moniker a bit too far?
Time to put up or shut up
Hopefully someone does something really creepy to display their love for Jack Z
I'm pretty sure that's a given at this point.
...?

A suit made out of these would do the trick
...?
Depends on what Robert chooses to wear

In all likelyhood I'll probably be the only person in a Sounders jersey due to other people changing our planned wardrobe at the last moment.
Awesome.

I’m in and very stoked, once again.

I just bought tickets.

I’ll be driving down from Bellingham, if anyone wants to carpool to save gas, just let me know.

Hmmm

Maybe.

That's how I became friends with Katal!
FYI

There are only about 100 tickets left.

I just got ticket 243

Selling like hotcakes. Awesome

Wow. Guess we need a throusand tickets next year.

And a bigger Venue.

I got tickets 298 and 299.

Interesting.

Hmm...I would be a bit worried about that.
A ticket is a ticket, I say.

I am curious, though.

Just keep your thumb over the the ticket #..and don't be late
Maybe the ticket company accidentally filled it out as 2750...
Yeah I just bought one, then logged in here. I'm the proud owner of #00315, it didn't mention ticket number until after purchase.

So uh… can I get a refund on that if I can’t get in the door?

Just got Tickets 311-314
So the numbering is wrong..you're in!
Says Dave at USSM.
Whoohoo!

I bought my ticket during my break, which is also when I wrote the above post. I’ve spent the last ~two hours of work worrying about this. It’s welcomed news.

I don't have any money so I am sending you this drawing of a spider instead.

I value this drawing at $10 so I trust that my seat has been reserved.

Regards,
Librocrat

I think that was my favourite news story of the year.
Your spider only has 7 legs.

Do you want us to send it back to you?

It'll go in a circle back to him eventually.
David Thorne is, in fact, the man.
Ahaha I forgot about that
Holy cow it took almost a six weeks or so for the August 9th event to sell out.

This is a phenomenon. I wish I could be home for it.

I think it speaks volumes for the increased interest in the Mariners created by our awesome front office, not to mention the increasing popularity of USSM due to Dave's ubiquity.
And we're sold out
What's up with the numbering?

Does that matter or not?

if you have a ticket I'm wagering that it matters not
Nevermind

USS is working again and Dave said the numbering didn’t matter. Panic attack avoided.

Three hours.

Jeepers.

Insane.

Congrats, guys.

I'm really glad I jumped on this early.
Have fun, y'all.

I missed the ticket window.

Email me

The earthlink address I have for you bounced.

I wonder how much they would go for on craigslist...
I'd probably pay at least $20

How often do you get to listen to people this high up talk? Something you can tell the grand kids.

So far it has been about twice a year that an event like this happens.

I image it will be July or August for the next meet and greet.

Ya...

I went to the event before the Tampa game last August. I’m just saying that an event of this caliber is rare. Worth much more than $10 fucking dollars

Ten dollars fucking other dollars?!

Nice…..

Would that result in even more dollars?
I need to try this.

Christmas spending broke me.

Is there money porn available to arouse the dollars?

Just start leaving copies of Forbes lying around
Wouldn't a flat tax make them less excited?

And how do you clone Steve in the first place?

SON OF A BITCH
Something tells me you'll be able to get in anyway
If I don't get in I will blow up the library
Please read Jeff's post above.

It clearly states:

If you’re planning on leaving a comment under this post announcing your disappointment that you won’t be able to attend, thanks, that’s super important and relevant to everyone. No, we’re not going to have a webcam or a podcast.

Hope that answers any questions you have, Champ.

Wow, glad I checked the blogs this morning instead of this afternoon
Well, thank you work for blocking USSM so I can't get tickets.
Cripes.

I came very close to buying extra tickets in case someone I knew couldn’t get in. Sorry!

You're an Angels fan.

We’ll be talking about Mariners baseball. Nothing for you there.

I, for one, will not be attending

Who’s with me!

I am with you Poochie.
I'm (not) there too!
Well fuck.

I wanted to go. They need to find a bigger place.

I just got home from school too...
I'm guessing video is out of the question again.
No podcasting either.

Sorry.

From the original post!

I'm trying figure out why I didn't attempt to buy a ticket.

After 5 years I think I actually fear meeting Jeff.

I've meet him countless times and I still fear meeting him.
I seem to remember you being continuosly destroyed the only time I was with both you and Jeff
The only thing that destroyed me that night was beer and soccerballs
Buzzcuts are awesome
As many have seen before, Stifler agrees

I am still a scurred of him also.
You just gotta know his tickle spots.
I became less scared of him once I learned he was partially mentally handicapped
You could not possibly be as weird as I think you are
I think its just having that much sexiness in one room.

You, Matt and Graham. Then throw me in the mix? There would be a flood.

Damned

Too bad I had to work and we have an internet policy against purchasing stuff :(

Dave Cameron tweets that he's looking into moving to a larger venue ...

… price would go up to $15. I got my ticket but I would certainly be willing to pay $5 more if the event were moved.

People who already bought their tickets wouldn't be affected

I don’t want people to get their hopes up, though. I’m not sure we can do the new place, even with the elevated cost. I’ll try, but no promises.

I'd donate towards a larger room
DO IT. ELEVATE COSTS.

(I’d like to go, and would also donate to a larger room).

Dayum

just seeing this for the first time and already sold out! Wow! Absolutely willing to pay more to join the fun if moved to a larger venue, and I’ll bring company.

Thanks Dave (and Derek, Jeff, Matthew, Graham, un-named others) for putting in the heavy lifting here. You guys are doing a phenomenal job making the Mariners blogosphere the best in sports.
