Mariners! Padres! This time it counts. More than yesterday. But less than the regular season. A lot less. Like 100% less.
Listen live at 12:05. Lineups from Baker. Also of note: it isn't yet certain whether Ryan Feierabend will have Tommy John Surgery. It's all but guaranteed that he'll have some sort of procedure, but he's going in next Wednesday to let Dr. Yocum figure out the extent of the damage. If it's just scar tissue, he'll be out one or two months. If it's worse, then yeah, peace out 2009.

I'd love to see Clement hit second once he establishes himself as a non-terrible hitter.
JI - February 26, 2009
I hope this is Felix's year.
EnglishMariner - February 26, 2009
If he peaks at 19 I'm going to be so pissed
JI - February 26, 2009
Thanks for the sunshine and lollipops
It almost makes this feel like a real baseball game.
seattlecougar - February 26, 2009
Fuck it.
Today I’m pretending anyway. Happy Felix Day!!!
seattlecougar - February 26, 2009
Hows Felix looking?
Fat? Skinny? Afro? Jhericurl?
waldo rojas - February 26, 2009
He is going for an emo-punk thing. He is slimming down to 145 pounds and listening to a lot of the Cure.
mark sobba - February 26, 2009
C'mon Halman and Wilson!
Do something with this opportunity.
And let Jakubauskas pitch an inning, please.
marc w - February 26, 2009
I have a feeling
MLB Audio is not gonna cooperate again.
bluemax - February 26, 2009
I was wrong
blessed blessed audio.
bluemax - February 26, 2009
Hooray!
Teej - February 26, 2009
Dammit
I’m not going to be able to listen.
This makes me sad.
Also, Zduriencik is a sneaky liar! He said Fear was going in for surgery! Oh well. I should have known better than to believe anything before there was a press release about it.
section331 - February 26, 2009
Not on the radio!
JI - February 26, 2009
Dammit!
Thingray - February 26, 2009
Test
Are comments broken?
bluemax - February 26, 2009
NEIN
EnglishMariner - February 26, 2009
My last comment never posted.
bluemax - February 26, 2009
I was having problems
But looks like it’s working now.
zeeehjee - February 26, 2009
Felix with a quick inning
nice!
bluemax - February 26, 2009
Reegie Corona is a baller
Corco - February 26, 2009
Good first inning Felix
Corco - February 26, 2009
Gametracker?
Anyone know where it is? Can’t find it on mlb.com.
zeeehjee - February 26, 2009
Here...
But sloooooow…

section331 - February 26, 2009
Thanks.
zeeehjee - February 26, 2009
Slow is right.
zeeehjee - February 26, 2009
Shelton is still up.
zeeehjee - February 26, 2009
yeah.
It’s not great, but I don’t know if I want to shell out money for the actual audio, since I plan on doing most of my paying attention with radio/TV this year; so I suffer. Woe!
section331 - February 26, 2009
Slooooowww and buggy.
Random pieces of innings are missing. I think the MLB web developers use ST as a a testing ground for new features and untested code, given how hard it is to get to it and how crappy it is.
appleshampoo - February 26, 2009
Shelton with a Funk Blast
Woo
bluemax - February 26, 2009
Bahaha win that roster spot you sonofabitch
Corco - February 26, 2009
is this game on FM radio at all today?
It was nice having it on 97.3 yesterday, but it doesn’t seem to be there today.
Kevman22 - February 26, 2009
I don't know. I only have an FM radio.
Kevman22 - February 26, 2009
Oops. I meant to reply.
Kevman22 - February 26, 2009
Wow.
“Their new manager is a guy named Don Wakamatsu, who is obviously part Japanese, but you could never tell by looking at him.”
Teej - February 26, 2009
Yep
Corco - February 26, 2009
Fucker.
But you left out the “amazing” bit, which was the kicker.
esoteric - February 26, 2009
Dammit. Feel free to rephrase.
I only heard it in passing so I couldn’t get a fully accurate quote.
Teej - February 26, 2009
I think I did it justice below.
It was delightful.
esoteric - February 26, 2009
From the SD announcers:
“The new manager of the Mariners is Don Wakamatsu, who is obviously Japanese but you’d never know it from looking at him – amazing!”
esoteric - February 26, 2009
There you go!
Teej - February 26, 2009
Waitaminnit...
How can you be obviously part Japanese, yet people can’t tell by looking at you???
“Amazing” is right….
section331 - February 26, 2009
Oh, my.
You know those Japanese and how they look like each other.
msb - February 26, 2009
It's those sunglasses he is always wearing!
Makes his eyes like round!
Wilder. - February 26, 2009
Good grief.
royalcurve - February 26, 2009
Runs, runs, runs!
Teej - February 26, 2009
It's good
to be back..to be ANYWHERE
200tang - February 26, 2009
The Mariners are clearly going to romp to the playoffs this season, if today is any indication.
Because if you can score 2 runs off the Padres in Spring Training, you can do anything.
esoteric - February 26, 2009
We're going to the World Series! This is the defining moment in the season, clearly.
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
Oh no, now the announcers are trying out their "Joisey" accents
esoteric - February 26, 2009
Beats Dave Simms talking about American Idol...
Berran - February 26, 2009
It does not.
Teej - February 26, 2009
I actually watched a chunk of that show last night.
I was scarred.
esoteric - February 26, 2009
Dave Sims is fucking awesome
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
Dave Sims is the only good thing to come out of the Mariners between 2006 and 2008
Corco - February 26, 2009
2007 was fun
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
The subsequent results of 2007 were not fun
Corco - February 26, 2009
Obviously
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
Dave Sims isn't tainted like 2007
Corco - February 26, 2009
His name is "REEGIE!!??"
shinallsrevenge - February 26, 2009
-senile guy
shinallsrevenge - February 26, 2009
I'm pretty offended about it myself.
Which is better/worse, “Reegie” or “Chone?”
esoteric - February 26, 2009
Chone, as long as I can pronounce it how it's spelled.
shinallsrevenge - February 26, 2009
Chone
and I don’t think it’s particularly close.
Two Rs and Two Ls - February 26, 2009
The other day I saw a Shonn.
msb - February 26, 2009
The RB from Iowa?
bluemax - February 26, 2009
Could be.
It was at the combine.
msb - February 26, 2009
Shon isn't a terribly uncommon spelling of that name.
seattlebruin - February 26, 2009
Reegie, Chone, and Jhonny should all hang out together.
esoteric - February 26, 2009
What about Dwyane Wade?
Probably too famous for them.
seattlebruin - February 26, 2009
And we need to differentiate between intentionally spelled differently (Chone) and birth certificate bloopers (Jhonny, Reegie)
seattlebruin - February 26, 2009
The ballpark is not that difficult to find guys
Corco - February 26, 2009
Corona is gritty!
Way to induce that error
Corco - February 26, 2009
Hampson was almost
as bad as Horacio Ramirez was yesterday
200tang - February 26, 2009
"Takes me back to when I was a wee lass in Dublin" what?
shinallsrevenge - February 26, 2009
It was such fun!
200tang - February 26, 2009
Felix is gonna have a CG at this rate.
200tang - February 26, 2009
Just gave up a double.
bluemax - February 26, 2009
"E-mail" Brown??
SFMariner - February 26, 2009
"Bay-bee!"
These announcers are weird.
bluemax - February 26, 2009
One of the biggest Padres of all time?
No love for David Wells?
Eyebrows - February 26, 2009
"Low-to-mid-nineties fastball"?
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
Ahahaha
EMAIL brown is out at home.
Eyebrows - February 26, 2009
Chavez for MVP
200tang - February 26, 2009
Welcome.
Eyebrows - February 26, 2009
Ree-gie! Ree-gie!
Corco - February 26, 2009
Stop getting blasted, Felix!
LESS PREDICTABLE FASTBALLS DAMMIT!
PositivePaul - February 26, 2009
I thought it was all fastballs first week.
Eyebrows - February 26, 2009
This play by play guy reminds me of a retarded Hawk Harrelson
Corco - February 26, 2009
Redundant.
Eyebrows - February 26, 2009
There is a non-retarded Hawk Harrelson?
shinallsrevenge - February 26, 2009
I like the Hawk :(
Corco - February 26, 2009
...how???
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
He's talked about this before.
Grew up listening to him.
Eyebrows - February 26, 2009
I don't think that's a reasonable reason for liking Hawk Harrelson.
Maybe being his kid would be a reasonable excuse. MAYBE.
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
I just like his folksy style
It hearkens back to an earlier day
Corco - February 26, 2009
To each their own I guess.
I just see Harrelson’s “folksy” attitudes not being “old-timey, Americana values” folksy and more as “Pickup truck with a confederate flag, shotgun, missing teeth, beats-my-wife” folksy.
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
And subthread closed.
Not going in a good direction.
Eyebrows - February 26, 2009
Meh, it's not like that was even open for argument. "To each their own" and my opinion of Hawk doesn't seem like an opening for an argument.
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
Coming from a family of White Sox fans I wholeheartedly agree.
shinallsrevenge - February 26, 2009
What eyebrows said
and whenever I did something good when I was little my Dad would say “YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARRRRRRRRRDDDD???? YES!” and give me a high five
Corco - February 26, 2009
WHAT?!
EnglishMariner - February 26, 2009
I have never been so thankful for anything than I am right now.
seattlebruin - February 26, 2009
Well, no one can stop Henry Blanco, I don't think it's a reflection on Felix
shinallsrevenge - February 26, 2009
ZOMG SEASON OVER
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
Dear Felix,
Pitch better.
Love Corco
Corco - February 26, 2009
What?
Does Seattle really have three runs already, or is it more of that stellar mlb.com programming?
section331 - February 26, 2009
We actually have 3
Padres have 2 now.
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
They have 3.
Eyebrows - February 26, 2009
It is real.
bluemax - February 26, 2009
THIS BOAT IS REAL!
Eyebrows - February 26, 2009
We need more gifs from this.
And from the lonely island in general.

Awesome Morrow curveball?
appleshampoo - February 26, 2009
Never thought I'd be on a boat...
R.J. Anderson - February 26, 2009
This song has been stuck in my head for several days straight.
Mostly the T-Pain part. Wanna do it on karaoke.
appleshampoo - February 26, 2009
More Niehaus, please!
Give me Seattle’s broadcast crew, please, XM!!!
PositivePaul - February 26, 2009
Seattle's not broadcasting this game.
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
Yeah, I am not loving these guys doing the pay-by-pay
mark sobba - February 26, 2009
The urge to GTE all over the place is rising.
Why do this to us Felix?
EnglishMariner - February 26, 2009
It is his first start of the spring
I can’t get to worked up over it.
bluemax - February 26, 2009
It's also bloody hot and the wind is blowing
the final score’s going to be like 13-12
Corco - February 26, 2009
I wish I was logical
EnglishMariner - February 26, 2009
I don't.
Aaron Campeau - February 26, 2009
Me either.
royalcurve - February 26, 2009
What the fuck is he doing now?
Robert - February 26, 2009
Nailed by E-mail Brown.
Eyebrows - February 26, 2009
Washburn is fat!
Send that to the presses!
mark sobba - February 26, 2009
That means
He lives in his mom’s basement.
section331 - February 26, 2009
Do those extra 4 pounds really show that much?
msb - February 26, 2009
The radio play-by play guys are saying he has gained weight.
All those hot pockets in his mom’s basement.
mark sobba - February 26, 2009
What are these guys talking about?
Who cares if your brother was in the honor society
200tang - February 26, 2009
Some baseball players are smarter than others.
mark sobba - February 26, 2009
Looks like Felix got boned.
JI - February 26, 2009
I have this strange inexplicable desire to fly to San Diego and visit the Tilted Kilt
Corco - February 26, 2009
If that's a bar, the name kicks ass.
Thingray - February 26, 2009
It is.
It serves underage Irish girls from the sound of the ads.
mark sobba - February 26, 2009
Are underage Irish girls tasty and thirst quenching?
Thingray - February 26, 2009
It's not very good
Jeff Sullivan - February 26, 2009
Their every half inning commercials are mesmerizing though
Corco - February 26, 2009
Damn you Reegie
wadswerth - February 26, 2009
His oatmeal
:’(
200tang - February 26, 2009
Seriously, what was that all about?
I don’t care for these guys.
mark sobba - February 26, 2009
Man
Maybe I’m glad I have no audio. I’m behind in the game, but at least I’m not subjected to the announcers….
section331 - February 26, 2009
LaHair in Left Field!
Corco - February 26, 2009
Time to break out the classics...
(in reference to Clement and Morse both)
appleshampoo - February 26, 2009
LaHair in Left Field!
Now I’m REALLY glad I have no audio…
section331 - February 26, 2009
Let's hit some balls to left field Padres
Corco - February 26, 2009
Wow PA Guy
Corco - February 26, 2009
Listening to this makes me wonder what the games will be like next week when I go to ST.
If LaHair could be in LF then Griffey could be put in CF.
mark sobba - February 26, 2009
I think putting LaHair in LF is a not so subtle indication that he's not really in contention for a roster spot
No way they put Griffey in center
Corco - February 26, 2009
I'm sure it is just not having anyone to play the OF
mark sobba - February 26, 2009
I don't think they're going to play anybody important out of position though
Corco - February 26, 2009
Griffey doesn't even want to play center. He almost didn't go to Chicago because of that.
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
Game Over
M’s Win M’s Win!
bluemax - February 26, 2009
Er wait
Fuck me.
bluemax - February 26, 2009
I have no idea what's going on
Also, there’s a guy named COLT?!
section331 - February 26, 2009
Quite a few, actually.
Kansas City’s #1 draft pick in ’01, the #9 overall, was a guy named Colt Griffin who supposedly threw 101mph all the time. He basically did nothing in the minors and was out of baseball in 2005.
The Padres had both a Colt Hynes and Colt Morton in their org last year. Since the former’s a P and the latter a C, there’s always the possibility of a 2 Colt battery.
marc w - February 26, 2009
Well, then....
I’ll be dipped. Thank you for the information….and the delightful pun!
section331 - February 26, 2009
The quarterback and Heisman trophy third place finisher this year was Colt McCoy of the University of Texas
he is also noted as an all-around good samaritan
seattlebruin - February 26, 2009
Bryan LaHair!
TRIPLE WHAT?!
200tang - February 26, 2009
I hate you, GameDay
Is it just me, or does Edwin Moreno look like Pepe Vidro?
section331 - February 26, 2009
I just heard Sunshine, Lollipops and rainbows on ESPN.
But it was for a golf commercial.
Slurvey - February 26, 2009
TIE GAME!
Slurvey - February 26, 2009
A tie?!?
section331 - February 26, 2009
OH MY GOD CALL THE COMMISSIONER THIS IS AN OUTRAGE
ST games often end in ties – they’ll usually play a 10th inning but then it’s up to the two managers whether they continue or not, and most don’t bother.
pdb - February 26, 2009
Oh, I'm not outraged
Just a teeny bit annoyed, and amused that this is sort of what happened yesterday, ie; we had it kind of in the bag until the very end. They outhit us today, though, it looks like….mlb.com says it’s still in progress….
section331 - February 26, 2009
Anybody want to give me a link to gameday?

From Drayer's Blog...
Hmmm…
PositivePaul - February 26, 2009
More like...
The other pitches make his fastball better. Christ, when will he get it?
Kevman22 - February 26, 2009
It's strange that he watched and idolized Pedro Martinez (behind Freddy) and he still thinks the only way to pitch is to establish the fastball.
BrettJMiller - February 26, 2009
Meh the game ends with a tie...
Slurvey - February 26, 2009
Woooo, a point!

Homerun Derby time!
