Listen live. Lineups from Baker. I hear some girl is starting the game for the Mariners, which I guess is news.

I believe you are in error good sir
If a woman were to play in a major league baseball game I doubt we would just now be learning as it would likely be front page news, and a lively topic for discussion.
So he isnt talkative with the media, and he was injured last year. That doesnt mean he can’t contribute well this year. Its not his fault the Ms traded too much to get him.
Or is it impossible to scroll past the top of any inning? I can’t tell if this is a standard Gameday ST bug, or if my Linux+Firefox combo is causing problems.
I certainly hope this isn't true because as much as I'd like winning baseball here in Seattle the continuing exploitation and objectification of women is not something I want my favorite baseball team associated with.
I saw him pitch in Mt. Vernon at the field on Cleveland Street.
Estes was ok, but what I remember from that game is when someone got picked off first. He attempted to dive back to the bag, but just belly-flopped straight down.
Blengino said the out was under-rated and too often they were given away for silly reasons. Dave interpreted this as “yeah, you’ve gotta make your outs productive.” when Blengino was (seemingly) saying the sac bunt and such are bad moves.
I can get game updates from Baker’s blog faster than from Gameday or the live Boxscore. Also, good golly. we’re clobbering them. The ERA column for the Padres is funny.
from #8 prospect in all of baseball to getting shelled by the likes of Callix Crabbe and Mike Carp in garbage time of a spring training game. TINSTAAPP isn’t exactly true, but it was invented with the likes of Miller in mind.
Holy crap, what happened!
And why couldnt we save all this for when it counts! Hehe.
So, based on our pythagorean win %age from these two spring trianing games, we’re goign to win over 100 games this year. World Series here we come! (And no mentioning the small sample size) :P
So we all know that Spring Training stats are worth very little. So what do you look for in Spring Training? I’m guessing that the coaches are looking for very specific things, like hitting/pitching mechanics, defensive footwork, baserunning funtamentals etc. What should we as fans look for since we can’t always see those kinds of things? 1 on 1 matchups seem like they are important. E.g. if Mike Morse is batting .500 it’s not really notable since he’s facing a lot of scrubs, but if he had several quality ABs against actual good starting pitchers, it might be worth noting.
Not sure if it’s just a ST thing, but if Cleveland breaks camp with Peralta at 3B, DeRosa at 2B, and Valbuena at SS, that could be a fun defense to watch.

Not an "offical" female.
But, some reports had it that the player was a whussy that cried like a girl all the time.

Teej - February 27, 2009
Believe this is aimed at one Erik Bedard
who may or not be a little bitch
lemonverbena - February 27, 2009
Based on the apple-polishing he's been doing with media & fans...
msb - February 27, 2009
I bet Erik Bedard doesn't make it two innings today before he is pulled!
mark sobba - February 27, 2009
Give Eric another chance
So he isnt talkative with the media, and he was injured last year. That doesnt mean he can’t contribute well this year. Its not his fault the Ms traded too much to get him.
His interview on KJR the other day was great.
AlexR - February 27, 2009
You must be new here
We are actually Bedard fans here, we just like to get a bit sarcastic with the way the media and more casual fans view him.
bluemax - February 27, 2009
Yeah, youre right
Been hearing too much Eric bashing from various places. :)
AlexR - February 27, 2009
You've found a home, my friend.
Teej - February 27, 2009
Are You Alex Rodriguez?
zeeehjee - February 27, 2009
Yeah, I have nothing but high hopes for the guy.
I hope he has a career year with the M’s this year!
mark sobba - February 27, 2009
Erik is my favorite
Jeff Sullivan - February 27, 2009
It wont happen, but I think an LL interview with the Erik Bedard would be amazing.
mark sobba - February 27, 2009
He made it two innings :p

I’ve been having a rough time finding these links this year.
zeeehjee - February 27, 2009
They usually don't show up on the front page
until the end of ST.
bluemax - February 27, 2009

Here's some Bedard on the radio.
He almost sounds like he might be a normal human being.

Big Jared - February 27, 2009
Wait was that really a 3 pitch first inning or is gameday crazy?
Graham MacAree - February 27, 2009
4 pitches
You have it on one pitch mode I think
200tang - February 27, 2009
Gameday for Spring Training has only been put down the exact number of pitches to signify something
1 for contact, 3 for a strikeout, and 4 for a walk.
joof - February 27, 2009
Wait, how was the ball deflected from Matt Tuiasopopo over to Jose Lopez?
Did he just punt it to second or something ridiculous?
joof - February 27, 2009
Ever think that Niehaus gets the list of new players and is like "Isn't anyone name John Smith anymore?"
mark sobba - February 27, 2009
So, if this years motto is "a new day, a new way"
and they have Jay & Gar in, to do an ad …
will the flavor of the ad be “get off my lawn, ya young punks”?
msb - February 27, 2009
Funny!
It would be great if they were yelling at Clement and Felix. (Trying to think of the youngest guys on the team.)
mark sobba - February 27, 2009
The ad could be a parody of Gran Torino
mark sobba - February 27, 2009
Flu-like symptoms, huh Morse?
BrettJMiller - February 27, 2009
Let's hope
the base running is better today.

I can't believe Felix has two children.
I still think of him as being about 14 years old.

Agreed.
He was the first player in the majors younger than me.
Kevman22 - February 27, 2009

But it is hard not to think of him as just a kid, even at 23.

I'm 26
and I’m not even sure when I want to start having kids.
bluemax - February 27, 2009
I know, I turn 31 next Saturday.
I feel like I am maybe 5 years away from being in a good place to have kids.
mark sobba - February 27, 2009
Still, Congrats to Felix!
All the best to you, on and off the field!
mark sobba - February 27, 2009
He doesn't even turn 23 for another month or so.
Sign sign sign!
Teej - February 27, 2009

Sec 108 - February 27, 2009
The point is that the sex trade is reprehensible and signing a player in any way involved makes me question the direction of the new front office.
Aaron Campeau - February 27, 2009
If you are that upset perhaps we should trade him for another outfielder
perhaps Elijah Dukes? Washing has many outfielders from which to choose
JI - February 27, 2009
I think we should consider a trade for Ugueth Urbina.
Aaron Campeau - February 27, 2009
I would hope these players are washing regularly.

“productive outs are as good as productive hits”
Kevman22 - February 27, 2009

Blengino bows to Dave's seniority there
CKel - February 27, 2009
For those who aren't listening:
Blengino said the out was under-rated and too often they were given away for silly reasons. Dave interpreted this as “yeah, you’ve gotta make your outs productive.” when Blengino was (seemingly) saying the sac bunt and such are bad moves.
BrettJMiller - February 27, 2009

Very sly this new administration is.

kevin_ess - February 27, 2009

Aaron Campeau - February 27, 2009

but that will do nicely.
Two Rs and Two Ls - February 27, 2009
10X what damage?
joof - February 27, 2009
I don't know what that means
I haven’t played Magic since I was about 8 and I hadn’t heard of a Magikarp till I saw Slurvey’s comment.
Vatinius - February 27, 2009
Magikarp is a pokemon.
But then again almost all card games were based of Magic.
Slurvey - February 27, 2009
The numbers on the side are damage attacks do. The 10X means it's 10 damage times something.
And with that, I’m done with this conversation. >_>
joof - February 27, 2009
Yup!
Slurvey - February 27, 2009

LL is a populous blog and so our defense needs are great.

Mike Carp

WHAT THE FUCK? 18-0?
redwolf75 - February 27, 2009
Gameday better not act like this during the regular season.
redwolf75 - February 27, 2009
It won't
this is normal for ST.
bluemax - February 27, 2009
I'm, hoping there are more awesome additions like Gameday 3D.
kevin_ess - February 27, 2009
Why stop at 3?
4-D is where it’s at.
ralphie81 - February 27, 2009
4-D is reserved for the PlayStation 3.
bluemax - February 27, 2009
Considering Gameday changes through time, it is 4-D.
Jed MC - February 27, 2009
It was in 3-D last year...
Just about half way through the season.
BrettJMiller - February 27, 2009
I know - I'm saying I want more cool things like that.
kevin_ess - February 27, 2009
Luckily for the Dodgers
none of these guys getting teed off on are expected to be contributors.

Not sure if it’s just a ST thing, but if Cleveland breaks camp with Peralta at 3B, DeRosa at 2B, and Valbuena at SS, that could be a fun defense to watch.
BrettJMiller - February 27, 2009
Asdrubal Cabrera's ahead of valbuena at SS for the Indians
But yes, that could be a fun defense to watch.
