You can now add Mitch Talbot to the list of pitchers who have allowed a home run to Miguel Cairo since April 2006. Kevin Correia was getting pretty lonely.
One of the toughest things to do as a pitcher is learn to separate processes from results. Sometimes a bad pitch can lead to a good result because you got lucky, or a good pitch can lead to a bad result because the hitter did a nice job, and it can be really hard to tell when you made a mistake. Other times it's easy to tell.

If you're a former Mariner you're pretty much guaranteed to be a Philly or a Royal

John Mayberry
Did anybody else catch the significance of that name in the box score?

Yes.

Depends on what you mean.
In this case, we’re referring to John Mayberry, Jr, a player drafted by the M’s once but he didn’t sign. He was drafted by Texas a couple of years later (traded to Philadelphia late last year).
