Don't have a link to this yet since the box score hasn't been posted, but his line from today:
8IP, 5H, 2ER, 1BB, 18K, 1HR, 29BF
Totals for the year include:
78 batters faced, 45 strikeouts (58%), 4 walks (5%).
As part of THT, each March we do a staff roundtable of predictions on the standings. Part of that article is offering a prediction on who will win the MVP, Cy Young and Rookie for each league. I detest that part since I am loathe to attempt predicting what the generally moronic BBWAA will do. However, if asked this Spring, I am going to predict that Stephen Strasburg will be the Rookie of the Year.
I am only going to be half-kidding.

A home run?
What a loser
Graham MacAree - March 5, 2009
He gave it up to the worst hitter on the team.
Tyler - March 5, 2009
If he wanted me to teabag him in return for choosing Seattle.
I would probably say “yea”.
EnglishMariner - March 5, 2009
Silly Graham.
R.J. Anderson - March 5, 2009
Graham?
BrettJMiller - March 5, 2009
Wait... Wouldn't that phrasing mean you're the one giving?
joof - March 5, 2009
Probably?
seattlecougar - March 6, 2009
Oh yeah,
the game today was against University of San Diego, ranked 11th in the nation by BA, 16th by USA/ESPN.
Matthew - March 5, 2009
WHY! Why do you keep showing me pretty things I can't have!
The Nationals are not going to be that stupid, cheap and poor.
mark sobba - March 5, 2009
Strasburg says he'll skip draft this year
if Washington, or Seattle, are the two possible teams.
He says okay to San Diego. Bud Black, all that.
joof - March 5, 2009
Andrew Miller tried the same thing. He still signed.
Throw enough money at anyone, and they’ll go anywhere.
BrettJMiller - March 5, 2009
You're missing the joke.
esoteric - March 5, 2009
Some guy last season ran through a couple threads posting this.
joof - March 6, 2009
Inside information!
Man,
what
an
ass
Teej - March 6, 2009
I remember that guy.
Our resident 60-year old A’s troll. Common, they are.
redwolf75 - March 6, 2009
You missed one
!
redwolf75 - March 6, 2009
I found a way to hate this team even though we are competently run.
Neat.
Robert - March 5, 2009
Again, losing one fucking game was too much to ask?
OlSalty - March 5, 2009
If only we'd been just a little better at losing!
Damn you 2008 M’s to hell.
Big Jared - March 5, 2009
We couldn't do anything right last year!
mark sobba - March 5, 2009
We tried.
Oakland screwed us over by being worse somehow (Morrow gives up 5 runs…and wins? Huh?).
ThundaPC - March 5, 2009
They did it on purpose!
OAKLAND tanked so that we wouldn’t get the first overall pick.
There’s the conspiracy!
PositivePaul - March 6, 2009
I actually believe this.
hcoguy - March 6, 2009
The better part is that he is only 20...
Slurvey - March 5, 2009
No the best part is where he strikes out more than two batters per inning
Graham MacAree - March 5, 2009
I say we draft the guy who his the HR off of Strasburg with the 2nd pick.
kentroyals5 - March 5, 2009
We draft another catcher I'm gonna be pissed
Ezzra - March 5, 2009
You should use your headline creating powers for good and discourage the Nationals from drafting Strasburg.
(Click for full size)
Vatinius - March 5, 2009
He has such a great career ahead of him it's a pity that it had to end this way.
RIP Stephen Strasburg.
I wonder how much his semen will cost…
Slurvey - March 5, 2009
I don't.
Double06 - March 5, 2009
This Semin costs $4.2 million.
And he’ll play the bongos on your head for no additional cost.
DCMariner - March 5, 2009
I already had this exact idea.
Robert - March 5, 2009
Usually this only lands you on the DL with 'tendonitis'.
Almost as good as Big Richie vs. 1500 lb baby.
Big Jared - March 5, 2009
Richie having his way with 1500 lb baby*
redwolf75 - March 5, 2009
Hardest he's hit anything in a couple years.
Big Jared - March 5, 2009
What about when he threw his helmet at Gabbard?
Ezzra - March 5, 2009
I just woke my daughter up laughing at this
oneseasoncom - March 5, 2009
yes yes yes
OlSalty - March 5, 2009
Wow.
redwolf75 - March 5, 2009
Maybe our next campaign should be to fund the arts of Vatinius
seattlebruin - March 5, 2009
You are such a wonderful addition to the LL team.
esoteric - March 5, 2009
There are times I make a product I feel proud of...
and then there are times when I use a $1,000 piece of software on a $2,500 computer to make a masturbation joke.
Vatinius - March 5, 2009
The way you phrased this made it seem as if these are different events
Sportszilla - March 6, 2009
We should mod him!
.Taylor - March 6, 2009
We?
Aaron Campeau - March 6, 2009
Sorry...G/M/J
.Taylor - March 7, 2009
This is perhaps the best 'shop in LL history.
Bravo!
EnglishMariner - March 6, 2009
The best part of it -- that I missed the first time through -- is the follow-up to the punchline:
“Strasburg’s hot stuff creates some interesting dilemmas.”
That’s fucking AWESOME as a counterpoint to the headline. All the better because it’s a real headline.
esoteric - March 6, 2009
You need to dive into that inbox, man.
Teej - March 6, 2009
You deserve every one of the 31 recs
Never leave LL, please
.Taylor - March 6, 2009
Also, I kind of want to read that article now
.Taylor - March 6, 2009
The only real solution here is for us to hijack the Nationals scouting operation
With a GM opening this is the perfect opportunity for one of us to sneak in under a pseudonym and be named the new GM or scouting director, draft somebody else, and then quit
Corco - March 5, 2009
Draft yourself
I’m sure there’s a high school player named David Corcoran somewhere you could announce as the pick
seattlebruin - March 5, 2009
Do you have to be an active player? Aumont wasn't.
There’s a former high school player sitting in Wyoming I could announce as the pick
Corco - March 5, 2009
Well aren't you also three years removed from HS?
I don’t see why you couldn’t announce yourself.
You know, you shouldn’t quit – you should sign yourself first
seattlebruin - March 5, 2009
I probably wouldn't draft myself because that would increase the odds like 400000000000000x that I get caught
And if I signed myself I’d have to play, which would prompt a large investigation as to why I was drafted with the #1 overall pick. Fraud would be suspected.
I’d draft Grant Green
Corco - March 5, 2009
You could draft me.
I was the best pitcher in my little league 15 years ago.
Vatinius - March 5, 2009
Pick Me! Pick Me!
I totally raked as the pitcher in t-ball, myself!
PositivePaul - March 6, 2009
plus those ace ballplayers under 15 we could promote again....
msb - March 6, 2009
To add to the impressiveness:
Strasburg’s SWINGING strikeout rate alone is 47.4—Lincecum’s overall K was about 40% his junior year.
Other funnness:
XBH: 3.85
Opponent’s line: .178/.231/.260
BABIP: .429
Last 2 starts: 14.2 IP, 34 K, 2 BB
Fett42 - March 5, 2009
That should be 47.4% and XBH% respectively, by the way
Fett42 - March 5, 2009
I was wondering how you allow 0.85 of an extra base hit.
appleshampoo - March 5, 2009
You get 85% of the way to second, see the CF throw to his cutoff man, then run back to first so you don't get thrown out.
Ezzra - March 5, 2009
Or be Bengie Molina
and hit a home run
Vatinius - March 5, 2009
According to KZOK the easiest way for the Mariners to win this year is to not suck
Corco - March 5, 2009
He is going to look so wonderful in a Nationals uniform.
esoteric - March 5, 2009
It's such a shame...
Slurvey - March 5, 2009
You know, I don't care what uniform he wears.
I only hope his success continues in the big leagues. Because that kind of ownage would be glorious to witness every five days.
Wilder. - March 5, 2009
The M's have Felix, so I want the Nats to have Strasburg.
Although yeah, if for some reason the Nats go insane it’s a pretty sweet consolation prize for the M’s to have both Felix AND Strasburg.
esoteric - March 5, 2009
Felix, Morrow, Strasburg, RRS, Aumont
2010, baby!
Ezzra - March 5, 2009
That would not be fair
At all.
cwel87 - March 6, 2009
After 2001 it's quite clear that "fair" ain't got nothin' to do with it.
esoteric - March 6, 2009
With all due respect to the pitching
It was Mike Cameron + Bret Boone + Olerud + Ichiro! + everyone else on defense that caused that totally ridiculous year.
Plus, Edgar.
cwel87 - March 7, 2009
Hmm.
Aumont will probably not be ready next year. I’d guess 2012.
So — keep Bedard!
Felix, Bedard, Strasburg, Morrow, RRS.
Runs allowed <500
PositivePaul - March 6, 2009
Garcia, Blackley, Pineiro, Nageotte, Johnson 06!
Robert - March 6, 2009
Those were the days
sob
88fingerslukee - March 6, 2009
I just have to point that, despite how much we all wanted to believe
and despite the fact that I did believe, scouts were not convinced by Blackley and Pineiro. At all. Nags, sure, but Johnson had some question marks back then, and Blackley and Pineiro just didn’t have a ton of stuff.
The 2010 thing would be different, and would thus probably blow up in our faces in a totally different way.
marc w - March 6, 2009
I remember being a big Pineiro believer because I loved his curveball.
That and in 2003 he led the league in ERA from the 3rd inning to the 7th (if I recall correctly). I thought that if he could just buckle down in the first two innings that he’d be an ace next year.
2004 was a drag.
