Listen live at 12:05. (I just realized this rhymes like three minutes ago.) Mike Sweeney's making his spring debut, and Gaby Hernandez gets the start, and whenever those two clowns get together, there's bound to be some wackiness.

After a couple of years, you'd think MLBAM could fix the awful hissing sound on the radio feeds.
Teej - March 7, 2009
First thing I thought of was humbucker.
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
If you don't mind poor video quality, you can watch for free.
MLB.com offering it up, but with Dodgers radio.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
That link is wonky.
Try again? I would love to not listen to the radio feed.
Teej - March 7, 2009
Go straight from here, then.
Try this.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
My ears! They're not bleeding! YES!
Thanks, dude.
Teej - March 7, 2009
Thanks for the tip
JI - March 7, 2009
No problem.
Hey they just got some semblance of graphic up for the first time!
abender20 - March 7, 2009
yay for poor video quality!
I’ve never seen Gaby throw.
section331 - March 7, 2009
Thank for not listing this in the media center you assholes
JI - March 7, 2009
Big break on Gaby
abender20 - March 7, 2009
's curveball. Damn return key too close to the apostrophe.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
It's ok
I still approve.
section331 - March 7, 2009
I approve!
section331 - March 7, 2009
Great song on this ad.
Teej - March 7, 2009
I'm going to be so pissed off if the commercial breaks don't make me suicidal this year.
JI - March 7, 2009
Weird
Sorry, reply fail, I think…
section331 - March 7, 2009
Jesus Balentien should never attempt to steal bases.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
Good God, man.
Teej - March 7, 2009
JI - March 7, 2009
Morse is actually 6'5"?
abender20 - March 7, 2009
He's pretty large.
Teej - March 7, 2009
It's funny how Rizzs no longer compares him to A-Rod
JI - March 7, 2009
The resemblance is uncanny.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
I ran into Rizzs in the parking garage at Safeco
Accidentilly said “Hey! It’s Ron Fairly!” Sorry Rick, you’re just not that memorable.
oneseasoncom - March 7, 2009
Did you back up and try again?
Aaron Campeau - March 7, 2009
Nope...
Wasnt worth it
oneseasoncom - March 7, 2009
His curveball reminds me a lot of Rich Hill's in terms of speed and vertical break.
Hill has a little more horizontal movement to his though.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
Hell yeah, Gaby!
Did Bavasi really make a good trade? This is pretty exciting.
Teej - March 7, 2009
*Pelakoudas
JI - March 7, 2009
The second I hit enter I knew I was wrong.
Teej - March 7, 2009
What pitch did he get that check swing with? Hard time picking up the high pitches on this feed
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
It was an some form of breaking ball that was too high and didn't break properly.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
This media player is flawed. When your progress bag gets to the end, it loops back to the beginning of where you came in.
Also, the game can loads of where you’re watching (Teej, you’re behind a little).
abender20 - March 7, 2009
If Hudson is that rangey all season long...
JI - March 7, 2009
Oh Jeffie....
OlSalty - March 7, 2009
Jesus Christ, Clement
Could you stop sucking for a week or so?
JLC - March 7, 2009
"Juan Pierre is in Beast Mode"
Awesome.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
Juan Pierre is the exact opposite of Beast Mode.
Teej - March 7, 2009
He's no Marshawn, that's for sure.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
Which beast is the question.
A very overrated one, I’m guessing.
OlSalty - March 7, 2009
goddamn
MLB keeps crapping out every five seconds.
Error. Closed.
Aaaaaargfggghh
losmarineros - March 7, 2009
Works for me
JI - March 7, 2009
I'm in Europe
and so apparently the interweb has to suck…
losmarineros - March 7, 2009
They think they can trade Pierre?
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
JI - March 7, 2009
Maybe if they throw in Kershaw and a briefcase of cash.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
He's willing to defer salary!
Aaron Campeau - March 7, 2009
Team Canada could use a CFer
JI - March 7, 2009
Ahahaha Vlad slipped an revealed he's year older than his listed age
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
Jeff Clement is incredible defensively.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
Jeffie is having one of his "slow" days
OlSalty - March 7, 2009
Redman nice angle and nice footwork.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
That was pretty awful.
Teej - March 7, 2009
Is this a repeat
of yesterday’s game? :p
section331 - March 7, 2009
Jesus....
OlSalty - March 7, 2009
Bahahahahahahahaha
OlSalty - March 7, 2009
I don't even remember seeing a 1st to 3rd move ever work
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
Aaaaaaand ... balanced karmic-ly by the broken bat single
msb - March 7, 2009
I'ms tarting to think this Hernandez kid will never turn the corner.
JI - March 7, 2009
Why, because his bat dodging technique is girly?
abender20 - March 7, 2009
any other
possible way to internet this game in audio at least?
I beg you…
losmarineros - March 7, 2009
mlb.com or nothing
JI - March 7, 2009
Wow what a freaking horrid pickoff throw. It wouldn't take much to wear out the Kahnnnn! meme.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
Bush league b.s.
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
Wow I'm watching baseball on MLB.tv
I’ve never done this before
Corco - March 7, 2009
It's not so bad right?
abender20 - March 7, 2009
The camera angle makes everyone look really tall
Corco - March 7, 2009
Well, it turns out...
if you are operating with a slow line and an elderly laptop with a failing memory, it’s bad.
msb - March 7, 2009
Jesus Kahn wake the fuck up
Corco - March 7, 2009
Morse/Balentein/Redman?
Yikes
Isn’t Redman a better CFer than Balentein?
Corco - March 7, 2009
He looked pretty miserable in left field (n=2)
abender20 - March 7, 2009
oh OK
Prentice Redman just sounds like the name of a guy who would be good in CF- I haven’t looked at any numbers
Corco - March 7, 2009
He may be perfectly reasonable, he just hasn't looked great in his two chances.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
It really is a good center fielder name.
Teej - March 7, 2009
Camelback ranch sounds like one of those Nevada bordellos
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
Yes!
There was something about the name that didn’t seem right, and I think that’s it.
Teej - March 7, 2009
I think that bordello is named after a different part of the camel
OlSalty - March 7, 2009
I really hope Mike Carp ends up being awesome
because then if we didn’t already win the Putz trade in foresight, we’ll have absolutely dominated that trade in hindsight
Corco - March 7, 2009
I just plain hope he becomes awesome.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
I Am Beluga Tits. It's time.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
Aumont is in for Team Canada.
R.J. Anderson - March 7, 2009
Thanks for the heads up.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
Pedroia greets him with a double
jksnake99 - March 7, 2009
Teahen is a scrub.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
He's a perfectly acceptable major leaguer.
The Royals would be well served if they went forward with him as a 2B.
JI - March 7, 2009
I know he's fine. I was just upset with him not catching that.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
I'm getting Aumontwood
abender20 - March 7, 2009
just whiffed Youk
jksnake99 - March 7, 2009
and Granderson
bases loaded, no outs and he got Wright, Youk and Granderson (weak popup, K, K)
jksnake99 - March 7, 2009
!!!
This post enthuses me.
cwel87 - March 7, 2009
We have about 5 guys competing for 1b, about 6 guys competing for the closer role.
Camp is full of average-ish bats, and knees constructed out of spare parts, spit and baling wire. And I haven’t been this optimistic about the M’s since ’02, weird.
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
The competition is what makes me optimistic
Say what you will about chemistry or whatever, but I have a hard time believing people don’t play harder and better when they don’t actually have to fight for their job. When we go into camp with 23 of 25 jobs locked up with only long reliever and 25th man as real competitions, I feel like that boosts egos and fucks up the team
Corco - March 7, 2009
one too many negatives in that first sentence
*Say what you will about chemistry or whatever, but I have a hard time believing people don’t play harder and better when they actually have to fight for their job.
Corco - March 7, 2009
Wow! Nice DP.
I’m concerned I’m falling for the new management bait, I’m always wary of propaganda. Having 3 outfielders that can field their position helps, and like you say competition. Made me think of Cedeno when you said that.
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
Also
USA vs. Canada is currently on ESPN, I just discovered. They’re in the bottom 7th, USA is winning…
section331 - March 7, 2009
There's a GT for it on the sidebar
JI - March 7, 2009
Oh! I didn't see it...
section331 - March 7, 2009
Turns out Aumont has good stuff
JI - March 7, 2009
Makes you feel pretty good about the draft pick, doesn't it?
abender20 - March 7, 2009
Sophisticated projection systems believe him to be potentially the best pitcher of all time.
Link
JI - March 7, 2009
Yeah, in my pants.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
Needs more innings pitched.
Otherwise he has girl parts.
Double06 - March 7, 2009
Look at those FIP numbers though
Holy buckets
Corco - March 7, 2009
190 IP of Aumont is better than 220 of anyone else.
JI - March 7, 2009
Exactly
Corco - March 7, 2009
That's the Rich Harden Theory.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
No that would be 100 IP etc
JI - March 7, 2009
It's almost as if I was being intentionally dense.
Double06 - March 7, 2009
For some reason BBM won't let you pitch many innings if you get a lot of strikeouts.
JI - March 7, 2009
I've been thinking of getting OOTP.
Can anyone attest to the satisfaction level of this game?
Double06 - March 7, 2009
Make sure you have a lot of RAM
If you do that, and once you get used to the interface, it’s great
Corco - March 7, 2009
Really?
I figured a relatively graphic-less game wouldn’t take a whole lot of expensive parts to run.
Double06 - March 7, 2009
Not that RAM is that expensive, but you get my drift.
Double06 - March 7, 2009
That's what I thought
I’m running XP on an early 2006 HP laptop with 1 gig of RAM and it was slow
If you activate all the options which you want to do for most realistic gameplay the thing is essentially a giant database and runs pretty slowly
Corco - March 7, 2009
You mean like Pedro!
JI - March 7, 2009
Sit the fuck down Granderson!
hcoguy - March 7, 2009
Oops wrong thread
hcoguy - March 7, 2009
That was so awesome it almost deserves its own thread
Corco - March 7, 2009
How do you go back down to A ball after that?
abender20 - March 7, 2009
He's going to A-ball?
JI - March 7, 2009
Little punk as A Ball hitter, you think you can hit my shit?
You know who the FUCK I AM? I’m the Aumontaut, bitch!
abender20 - March 7, 2009
He's almost certianly going to AA
Corco - March 7, 2009
He's still the Aumontaut.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
Thats a pretty good name, just make that up or has it been floating around?
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
That's original. Book it.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
I mean, it's that or some lame frat-style "Aumonster"
abender20 - March 7, 2009
I like Frenchie the best
Corco - March 7, 2009
Aumontster would be the spelling there, Aumonster the pronuncation.
That’s it, I’m going outside.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
I'm thinking I like Aumontaut better
I’ve considered a Fanpost, but that violates one of the rules of nicknames.
1. You can’t nickname yourself
2. You can’t force one, doomed before it gets a chance.
Seems like the hard and fast rules of nicknames, but I might be missing something.
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
Aumontalban
OlSalty - March 7, 2009
ThunderThighs.
msb - March 7, 2009
yes yes yes
Aaron Campeau - March 7, 2009
That's actually slick, except the T is silent.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
Baseball players need nicknames, and I'm sick of the -rod shit.
Especially with a high turnover on the M’s, we need to take these bitches over and make them our own.
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
Aumont-Rod?
Malcontent1 - March 7, 2009
at least I wouldn't waste his time in Lancaster
That’s a shitty place to pitch
Corco - March 7, 2009
*High Desert
Corco - March 7, 2009
Hey I live there
It’s also not that great to live in
Malcontent1 - March 7, 2009
I hope they send him wherever the best developmental pitching coaches are.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
That may involve a trade...
hcoguy - March 7, 2009
Yay Corco!
Corco - March 7, 2009
Jeffie! reached base !
JI - March 7, 2009
So I heard
any one know how?
msb - March 7, 2009
bloop single
Corco - March 7, 2009
Yay! a hit!
I just assumed he’d walked or been HBP
msb - March 7, 2009
Hinestly I'd prefer a walk to a bloop single.
Aaron Campeau - March 7, 2009
same
A weak bloop single to right field isn’t exactly something to write home about
Corco - March 7, 2009
But now we don't have to hear about him being hitless.
msb - March 7, 2009
That's true
Corco - March 7, 2009
Yay King Awesome
Corco - March 7, 2009
Is Tui really faster than Beltre?
Corco - March 7, 2009
Are we about to be treated to an ST Salami?
abender20 - March 7, 2009
That's a no.
abender20 - March 7, 2009
Hey Clement finally got a hit
OlSalty - March 7, 2009
That was clutch
Corco - March 7, 2009
Join the Griffey Mania!
Just not today.
aestivalis - March 7, 2009
I think I will just flush my money down the toilet instead tyvm
OlSalty - March 7, 2009
Wow Prentice Redman is fleet like a fox, that was pretty
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
Wow, Putz barely got the save, every ball except Bay's was hit hard.
BRKLN M'S - March 7, 2009
Fuck you LaHair
Corco - March 7, 2009
I remember this part of ST
Where you try to explain to the slightly drunk guy next to you that it isn’t really representative of what you will likely see during the season because the pitcher will be in AA, and that outfielder in AAA or on the bench ….
msb - March 7, 2009
Was Clement throwing to 2nd with the man on 3rd taking a walking lead?
Holy crap. Lucky the good defensive catcher label is just an excuse for catchers that can’t hit.
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
Is this El DeBarge pitching?
msb - March 7, 2009
They just hit the point of the game where I lose track of players.
I just realized they put in a PR for Morse.
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
Is it wrong
That I completely tuned out the Ms game in favor of watching JJ struggle against Canadian batters?
section331 - March 7, 2009
I wouldn't think so, this game is about as interesting as watching paint dry.
JJ wasn’t looking so hot eh? That would have been a good game to watch.
Kermit. - March 7, 2009
His strikes were vintage JJ
But I have the feeling the operative word there is “vintage”. And that makes me sad…
section331 - March 7, 2009
Dammit
Reply fail. I am SO not on the ball today.
section331 - March 7, 2009
Hey! the other team has crappy defense too!
msb - March 7, 2009
Comeback!?!?
redwolf75 - March 7, 2009
LaHair is up
….time to change….pitchers?
ThundaPC - March 7, 2009
Time to change the lead.
ralphie81 - March 7, 2009
Time to change the lead.
ralphie81 - March 7, 2009
LAHAIR!
JY - March 7, 2009
BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
ThundaPC - March 7, 2009
Wow Lahair
This is starting to get kind of upsetting, I don’t want him to have a good spring and somehow make the team then revert to his normal self.
OlSalty - March 7, 2009
Good god
.Taylor - March 7, 2009
Luckily Sheltron is having a better spring
Ezzra - March 7, 2009
I'm pretty sure LaHair still has no chance
But after experiencing the trauma of the Bavasi-era there’s still that little voice in my head that can’t outright dismiss stupid moves.
OlSalty - March 7, 2009
Shel-tron
I think there’s a chance we can chalk this typo up to ‘unintentional success’.
cwel87 - March 7, 2009
OH MY GOD!!!!!
section331 - March 7, 2009
That pitching change was so worth it.
ThundaPC - March 7, 2009
There was an odd synchronicity
between Dave’s call of the HR, and Pudge rounding the bases on tv
msb - March 7, 2009
Hahaha...
Take a look at the M’s front page
Balentein goes deep in Mariners loss…
Slurvey - March 7, 2009
Whoopsie
ThundaPC - March 7, 2009
Yeah
If you click on it, it actually says “win”. They need an editor…
