I can’t wait for some real baseball. To be honest, I’m getting more joy out of the WBC right now. Don’t get me wrong; I’m enjoying certain aspects of ST. I’m just ready for lineups to be set and some real competitive baseball to be played.
It’s always wonky during Spring Training, so they don’t really advertise the link. And yet they don’t lock it down…I guess they want the determined people to find it so they get some traffic to work out the bugs, or something.
“I told Don I was going to hit a single, and I was just going to keep running right-field line if I had to beat it out,‘’ Griffey said. "I hit a single, I turned around, looked at him, saw someone coming out, and gave him a little wave and ran on in. that’s all.”
Shelton has been killing it in ST. Shouldn't be much debate over our platoon at
1B… only question is whether Wak and company feel the need to keep Sweeney around is some capacity given how we gotta read an article every day about how swell of a guy he is, and how he’s a great leader… Plus he seems to be Griffey’s best bud..
Is it conceivable that they carry Shelton, Balentien, Clement, Cedeno, and Sweeney on the bench?
Yea i know. Just wonder if a team that knows it's not gonna contend, and has answered a million questions
about the clubhouse this offseason. Would sacrifice that 25th man on the roster for a guy like Sweeney who has pretty much taken a leadership role with the team.
An article the other day told the anecdote of Sweeney watching a pitcher with the other guys.
His turn to step to the plate, he turns and asks the guys around him what pitches the pitcher throws and none of them knew. They were just watching, not really thinking. It. Blew. My. Mind. That story literally derailed everything I’ve ever thought about baseball players and how they go about their business, I’m still having trouble processing that story.
But, Junior?! It's Junior!
Aren’t we supposed to be excited?!?

Meh.

Corco - March 8, 2009
Good start RRS :(
Corco - March 8, 2009
Haha back to back
Eyebrows - March 8, 2009
It's about time Branyan
Corco - March 8, 2009
Wladdy is crushing the ball...
Too bad he’s in a position similar to LaHair/Morse only Wladdy actually has more value in LF than those 2.
Slurvey - March 8, 2009
Pretty sure he has the best chance of those 3 to make the roster.
appleshampoo - March 8, 2009
GFD
I missed the first 3 batters of the top of the first (and live boxscore isn’t so much live). Who was on when Wlad went deep?
appleshampoo - March 8, 2009
Gutierrez and Griffey
marinerdan - March 8, 2009
So, guess I missed all the excitement.
Who are they playing? Who was pitching for the other team?
msb - March 8, 2009
Griffey walks again!
Slurvey - March 8, 2009
Huh.
Deja Vu.
appleshampoo - March 8, 2009

Eyebrows - March 8, 2009

Slurvey - March 8, 2009
Russell Branyan is a motherfucking baller
Corco - March 8, 2009
He's probably got a motherfucking boat too.
kentroyals5 - March 8, 2009
And he probably got funky with a couple mermaids as well.
Slurvey - March 8, 2009
Mariners lead it 7-0?
Dave you’re losing it.
Slurvey - March 8, 2009
Isn't it 7-0? Or am I losing it?
kentroyals5 - March 8, 2009
Box score shows RRS gave up a run.
So it’s at least 7-1
Eyebrows - March 8, 2009
Heyo...that's right. As far as I know the scoreboard at the stadium isn't working. But still.
kentroyals5 - March 8, 2009
Tui time beotches
Corco - March 8, 2009

sergey606 - March 8, 2009

appleshampoo - March 8, 2009
Yay Griffey gets a hit...
Slurvey - March 8, 2009
And a pinch runner?
What’s up with that?
section331 - March 8, 2009
haha
The call of Griffey running to the clubhouse was pretty funny.
appleshampoo - March 8, 2009
Light up the newspapers....
ThundaPC - March 8, 2009
It sounds like Branyan got robbed of HR number 2.
Slurvey - March 8, 2009
Really dave?
Pants on fire?
appleshampoo - March 8, 2009
slowly catching up, i like it
sergey606 - March 8, 2009
Ruh rohs
Talking about where to play Griffey. Apparently he wants to play 8-10 games in CF?
appleshampoo - March 8, 2009
Yea. So not happening.
ThundaPC - March 8, 2009
Goddammit Pena it helps if you throw the ball over the plate.
Slurvey - March 8, 2009
Is there a Gameday link to the game anywhere, or is the only available resource the box score?
.Taylor - March 8, 2009
Radio unless you don't get 710 KIRO.
Slurvey - March 8, 2009
710 KIRO? I was under the impression the M's new station was 1090?
.Taylor - March 8, 2009
Nope
710AM or 97.3FM
appleshampoo - March 8, 2009
1090 is Air America
section331 - March 8, 2009
Gameday
Buried here.
ThundaPC - March 8, 2009
I was mlb.com was more straightforward.
.Taylor - March 8, 2009
*wish
.Taylor - March 8, 2009
They don't want you to see Gameday right now.
It’s always wonky during Spring Training, so they don’t really advertise the link. And yet they don’t lock it down…I guess they want the determined people to find it so they get some traffic to work out the bugs, or something.
appleshampoo - March 8, 2009
*Gasp!*
We’re losing our lead! This game is a must-win!
.Taylor - March 8, 2009
Huh.
Kid pitching for the DBacks now is the son of Mark Schlereth, former O-Lineman for the Broncos.
appleshampoo - March 8, 2009
Our version of the Josh Fields pick.
Goose - March 8, 2009
Whoo....Larry Stone, Guest Commentator.
ThundaPC - March 8, 2009
Griffey being Griffey
ThundaPC - March 8, 2009

ThundaPC - March 8, 2009
11-7 M's
Score tracking is massively slow today.
ThundaPC - March 8, 2009
damnit
i was happy that it was “tied”
sergey606 - March 8, 2009
Fuck yeah bunting!
appleshampoo - March 8, 2009
If this was a real game, I'd be freaking out
But since it’s not, I won’t, because that would be uncool…
Also, I’m lying – say what you want about bunts, that was crazy.
section331 - March 8, 2009
Wait
Who got hit?
section331 - March 8, 2009

Shelton makes Sweeney redundant.
You’d want a speed guy in there somewhere, like Corona.

Bavasi would have kept them both.
You’re right about Corona. You gotta have a pinch runner somewhere.
