That's the worst type of an attitude to have.
And we no longer have adorable Tugger to replace him with...

The Tugger meme not catching on was the biggest disappointment of 2008
It might have been aided by the above picture of real life Tugger
I tried

Probably would've been more effective

if Tugger had actually caught on with the team.

Makin' movies makin' songs and foightin' round the world.
That is adorable.
The agreement with AP is paying off already
Drayer has the update on the roster moves

here

Nothing too exciting

except that no one else wanted Morse.

I'm a bit surprised at the Lugo move.

Coupled with Jimenez’s DL stint, exactly how many lefties will the pen have on opening day? Who?

Zero!
After all the relievers we stockpiled this spring we end up with zero lefties
Oh well

Ty Johnson will be ready sooner or later

It’s not like we have to face us

I blame Brandon Morrow
Swung on and Beltred!!!!!

OK. Bad pun. 3-run homer for Adrian

Warm and WIndy down in Peoria.
And, apparently, a teeny strike zone.

Fun!!

Gopher Ball Felix

Bleh.

Gopher Ball Lee.
What the hell is Yuni batting second for?

Lopez should be there.

Veteran Leadership

“They also probably had Jr. tuned out. Jr. was all over the clubhouse protesting Wak’s new tie rule. "The last time I bought a tie was my third year in the bigs. Every trip? We have to wear a Vegas tie? That’s ridiculous. You go talk to him (to Sweeney) he’s your daddy.”

Sweeney, “Dude, come on you got to do it. I am going to have to go to Dillards and buy about 20 ties for guys. How bout a bow tie Jr? We can wear them with sweaters, do the Carlton thing!”

“Let’s discuss this, how much would it cost us not to have to wear a tie on the road?” Jr said to a coach."

From Drayer’s blog.

April Fools?
According to Drayer

Nope.

So there's a chance we could see Sweeney and Griffey doing the Carlton dance?
Larue mentioned it the other day

"The big issue in camp the last few days has been ties," Wakamatsu said. "We’re going to wear them on team flights. Some guys have never worn them before, and they’re not happy. I’m not trying to be a hard-ass – I’d rather wear a sweat suit when we fly. Players used to have to wear suits. I’m just going with ties, and I’ve told the guys who’ve asked about it, ‘I’ll have a few extra ties on the plane in case you forget yours.’ "

Will Ichiro and, say, Ken Griffey Jr, have to wear ties?

"Yes, and so will all the coaches and so will I," Wakamatsu said.

"It’s discipline. We’re trying to establish something here. In some organizations, like the Yankees, there’s no facial hair allowed. When I was a player in the Reds organization, everyone had to wear their uniform a certain way. Those teams establish something throughout their system. In our clubhouse, there aren’t many players who have come up through the Seattle system. We’re starting something this spring, from how we play the game to how we represent the team."

I can understand wanting the players to show up to the park in suits a la the NBA, but reducing travel comfort doesn't seem like a great idea.
Wearing a tie isn't going to make traveling more uncomfortable than it already is.

I think Paul Allen selling his Boeing plane hurt the Mariners more.

It's not the tie itself, it's the fact that ties don't do with sweats or warmups.

i work in a tie daily and have no issues with that, but if I were flying all the damn time I’d prefer warmups or something.

I still think the seats are the big issue.
I wasn't disagreeing with you. That matters a ton.
The seats!!
Dear God

will someone please think of the children!

Oh that's covered already. What do you think the overhead bins are for?
those are for infants, children go in the baggage hold
The overhead bins are not sound proof and thus not well designed for infants.
After they rattle around during takeoff, they pretty much stop making noise.
Especially if they all have Sweeney clip-ons.
NBA players whined about their dress code, too.

But then guys got into it and now actually like the professionalism. I like this idea.

Felix, the improved outfield defense can't help you beyond 400 ft.
What the hell, Felix?
So Dallas McPherson got cut

is he better than Tui at this point?

At striking out, yes.
Wow

168 Ks last year but somehow managed a .379 OBP?

Although looking at his career minor league numbers this seems par for the course for him.

So is he really good at hitting fastballs and nothing else?

Yes.

I have an autographed baseball from him sitting on my desk. Angels 3B of the future! Brandon Wood might end up going down the same road if they don’t stop screwing around.

That's part of it, and then there's also park effects.

I don’t think the guy’s worthless, but he’s played his entire career in some the best hitting environments known to man. Albuquerque is made for Dallas McPherson.

That said, I’m still a bit surprised. Defense is clearly valued more than it was last year (and that may have hurt DM), but it may also be that strikeouts are suddenly overvalued, pushing down the contracts for guys like Dunn, and seeing guys like McPherson and Pena released.

Quick only 1 left!

XXL Felix Jersey on sale from Amazon!

Today’s Amazon DOTD is 25% off all Majestic Authentic gear. Wish I’d waited on buying a new M’s tshirt, Amazon has a better selection than MLB.com

Replica, not authentic.
Sorry

I meant official replica, not authentic.

Well, a homerun every half inning is awesome or something.
This ballpark must be a launching pad of hilarious proportions
I was there on Thursday last week.

The wind was blowing straight out. There are no hills or other building around the stadium. The Angels got back to back to back homeruns. So yeah, when the wind is going, these things happen.

Felix has allowed 7 groundballs

and 3 flyballs, all 3 have left the yard.

7 groundouts sorry
Rizzs thinks spring flew by

no one else does.

I loved how Niehaus said "I'm not talking about the weather (you dumbass)!"
Yeah Dave sounded annoyed during that whole line of conversation
Mike Wilson's homer

that gives him the ST record doesn’t it?

Say, did you know Jessie Barfield's dad played in the big leagues?
Josh Barfield's grandpa was a major leaguer too?
Brett Boone's was!
Rizzs made my brain short out.
No walks for Felix!
That 8.36 spring ERA doesn't look too bad

or is it just me?

it's Arizona + he did well in the WBC
-
  1. It’s Spring Training and he’s pitched like 12 innings.
  2. It’s ERA.
GRIFFEY HOMERED AGAIN GRIFFEY HOMERED AGAIN
Swell.
Junior's been swinging the bat better and better...

That bodes well for the offense.

Junior made an error in Left today… Bodes well for the defense (as it makes it more likely he DHs). Plus Endy has been awesome in the WBC and ST

by the way

Trey is now very tall.

holy shitballs I'm old

I remember him when he was just a little kid.

So do I and I don't think I'm...

oh fuck.

Here's your walker.
I suspect you'll be joining us for bingo night?
After Andy Rooney.
He's not dead yet?

Wow.

2011 Mariners #1 draft choice!
Somewhere I have a picture of him messing around on the field on a family day ...

from Safeco, so only 8-9 years ago. Amazing what a difference that makes.

Everybody is swinging the bat well

they’re playing on the damn moon

The future is going to be so awesome.
You think the bulky spacesuits would make swinging the bat difficult
I predict that Moon hockey is really going to take off.
Ichiro doesn't need a suit.

He was born there.

Plus the fact if you get hit by a pitch you're dead
Being a Rockies Fan Would Suck

As much as I love when my team hammers the baseball, it’s exhausting to watch every member of your pitching staff get routinely ballsacked on a nightly basis.

Which is in no way similar to to the 2008 Mariners.
I can't believe

there isn’t a single you tube clip of the Outer Space Stadium in Baseball Simulator 1.000, that place made Coors look like a pitcher’s park.

First golf, now baseball.
Limonta?
You don't mess with the Johan.
So...

Is Betancourt still the starting SS?

No one here cares about your Fantasy team.
Football scores!
Welcome to AZ Spring Training!

If you like baseball at Coors before the humidor, you’ll LOVE this!

Look at this fucker walk the world
So, either every pitcher in this game can't throw a strike.

or the HP ump has an interesting strike zone.

Although, based on the descriptions, Aardsma is just pitching poorly.
and yet we still managed 0 walks...
I agree with Dave

This bullpen is fine!

Question about Options

If the Mariners add Wilson to the roster again, is he immediately out of options again? Or because he passed through waivers, do the Mariners get extra options on him?

Presumably out
But he's only used one option year; doesn't he still have two left regardless?
Apparently the final was 14-14
