A lot of his value was in the fact he was going to be in AAA at 20
He’s never really hit that well in any season, but his tools and potential coupled with playing against much older competition made him such a nice prospect. We can only hope that he takes the rehab seriously and comes back strong.
It's a question about the impact of Triunfel's injury on his development
Actually, I don’t think it’s really that clear cut. It’s a pain in the ass in terms of baseball development, but since the major thing Triunfel was lacking is power, it might not really be a full lost year of development time so long as he rehabs properly.
I’m not a big fan of this line of thinking. Deaths cause a ripple affect. Adenhart’s death affected Angel fans and those close by far more than it affects me.
I really feel for Angels fans but I’m sorry, I’m already over it.
Triunfel’s injury sucks, especially in light of what we’ve been going through in the farm system.
I was penciling Truinfel in at 3rd if Beltre was traded for a load of talent. Guess there's Cedeno.
Hope Yuni bucks up, I hate having to rely on him for anything. Maybe Z goes with optimal plan A and resigns Beltre, but that could potentially block Trui. Glad I’m not a GM and just a fan.
If this season were prom our punchbowl would be nothing but cheap vodka and turds.
Aaron Campeau - April 10, 2009

Graham MacAree - April 10, 2009
Seriously let's trade all of our prospects for a starting pitcher because god knows they're all going to be worthless within a month
Graham MacAree - April 10, 2009
I hear Erik Bedard might be available in July and he fetched a fortune the last time he was traded.
Robert - April 10, 2009
He was traded for way above market value though.
Fin - April 10, 2009
Also had an additional year of team control
cwel87 - April 11, 2009
Wow
I’m so damn sorry.
Baltimo - April 10, 2009
No sorry will ever make up for robbing us blind last year.
Fin - April 10, 2009
April Fools day apparently runs all month now.

BrianL - April 10, 2009
Yeah it's sinking in for me now too.
Kirsten Schlewitz - April 10, 2009
WHAT?
.Taylor - April 11, 2009
We must of done something to piss God off in the last decade.
Either that or the Mariners lost their virginity to a succubus. Absolutely ridiculous.
At least I still got Ramirez and De Jesus to follow all year.
Slica - April 10, 2009
FUCK ME.
chinn - April 10, 2009
In the past two weeks we've lost our best two starting prospects and now our best position player
This had better be one hell of a draft or we’re boned. DRINKING TIME
Graham MacAree - April 10, 2009
Strassburg?
Smegmalicious - April 10, 2009
pipe dream
IceStormV1 - April 10, 2009
As a closer
Smegmalicious - April 10, 2009
6th - Fields
7th – Aumont
8th- Morrow
9th – Strasburg
what could go wrong?
IceStormV1 - April 10, 2009
1st through 5th - Silva
Ezzra - April 10, 2009
Well more like this.
1-4 Silva
5 Jaubkaoffsauras
6 Fields
7 Aumont
8 Morrow
9 Strasburg
Fin - April 10, 2009
I prefer Batista to Jakubaskas
Ezzra - April 10, 2009
Ok, this is how it will actually go.
1 Silva
2 Batista
3 Lowe
4 Cordero
5 Jaubaskas
6 Fields
7 Aumont
8 Morrow
9 Strasburg
Just like the All-Star game, a new pitcher every inning!
Fin - April 10, 2009
We could even do that every game, since no one would be tired.
Hero 3 - April 10, 2009
Aumonte?
Morrow?
BQueezy - April 10, 2009
Is it closer to the knee or by his ankle?
If it’s by the knee, he’s screwed. if it’s closer to the ankle, he’ll be out for around three months. But wow…
fresnofan - April 10, 2009
It appears to be by the Ankle
http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/article/20090410/NEWS/90410051
MattoB - April 10, 2009
He's young, he'll be fine
It’s his development that will suffer the most
Ezzra - April 10, 2009
And seeing as how his biggest asset is his age that lost year is pretty damned enormous.
Aaron Campeau - April 10, 2009
A lot of his value was in the fact he was going to be in AAA at 20
He’s never really hit that well in any season, but his tools and potential coupled with playing against much older competition made him such a nice prospect. We can only hope that he takes the rehab seriously and comes back strong.
Graham MacAree - April 10, 2009
And by July
MotherFUCK
cwel87 - April 10, 2009
I guess our only hope is that this doesn't retard his physical maturation by too much
Graham MacAree - April 10, 2009
Maybe the rehab will get him into great physical shape...
Matthew - April 10, 2009
Even though this is shitty news
I’m glad to hear it’s by ankle and not the knee.
fresnofan - April 10, 2009
That's a huge relief
If he can come back for some of the season this isn’t nearly as devastating. Although it’s still immensely shitty.
Graham MacAree - April 10, 2009
Totally agree with you, Graham.
fresnofan - April 10, 2009
So this is bad news, right?
Smegmalicious - April 10, 2009
yeah
but not as bad as people are making it sound if it’s closer to the ankle.
fresnofan - April 10, 2009
Damn.
brayden04 - April 10, 2009
Does this ruin his development by a year?
Fin - April 10, 2009
I think it depends on his recovery time.
If he can be sent down to the Winter Leagues, then I think he can makeup some time he will lose over the next 6 months.
Wilder. - April 10, 2009
What kind of a question is this?
marc w - April 10, 2009
It's a question about the impact of Triunfel's injury on his development

Graham MacAree - April 10, 2009
Can he still work out his upper body fully?
Once he’s and crutches and everything’s stabilized (in, say, a couple weeks, I mean)?
Decatur - April 10, 2009
All things considered, things couldn't have gone much worse for the M's farm system in the past two weeks than they have
Fucking insane.
cwel87 - April 10, 2009
Yea........
……….
We need to really stack up our farm system.
Triunfel out? Ugh.

.Taylor - April 11, 2009
'Minimum of 8 weeks'
Better than ‘minimum of 8 months, I suppose’
Graham MacAree - April 10, 2009
Is it confirmed that the injury was to the ankle?
BrianL - April 10, 2009
By that timeframe, it's 90-100% confirmed
It’s still a really shitty injury, but it gives a glimmer of hope he returns in late June and seamlessly rediscovers his path to awesome.
cwel87 - April 10, 2009
FUCK!
I need to was my mouth out anyone got some Shotgun Mouthwash?
Slurvey - April 10, 2009
More pressure on Z to have a good draft. Fair or unfair, it is what it is.
kentroyals5 - April 10, 2009
Here's to hoping that Zduriencik feeds off the pressure
And the Washington Nationals choke under it.
cwel87 - April 10, 2009
I'm over Strasburg....If he has a good overall draft that's all I can ask for. He has some work.
And that fact was true even without this injury. This just sucks.
kentroyals5 - April 10, 2009
It's really hard to have a good overall draft when all of the talent is in the #1 pitch
Graham MacAree - April 10, 2009
*pick
Graham MacAree - April 10, 2009
Not to be an additional Debbie Downer, but let's keep this in perspective.
Nick Adenhart was killed yesterday. So, think about what Anaheim is going through. Good luck to us and to Carlos’ recovery, but this, too, will pass.
lemonverbena - April 10, 2009
I'm all for perspective, but these two things are totally unrelated.
Aaron Campeau - April 10, 2009
Yes but this is happening to us and I really don't give a fuck about Anaheim
Graham MacAree - April 10, 2009
Very compassionate.
lemonverbena - April 10, 2009
People died today too.
People die every day. It sucks. We all feel bad for Adenhart’s friends and family and we all feel bad for Angels fans.
This still fucking sucks.
Aaron Campeau - April 10, 2009
Agreed on all counts.

Kermit. - April 10, 2009
Triunfel was as close to 3rd base as Adenhart was to making it through an intersection. He has a lot of development left.
kentroyals5 - April 10, 2009
If you're going to keep making these jokes you need to make them a whole hell of a lot funnier.
Aaron Campeau - April 10, 2009
Thanks for the advice.

Blocking Tui's defense at 3B from making the field as a regular might be the best for everyone involved
cwel87 - April 10, 2009
I was more fantasizing about a bucket load of top prospects for Beltre than a top tier replacement 3rd baseman.
My Mariner’s fantasy world is a beautiful place
Kermit. - April 10, 2009
I don't know
This implies that the M’s are going to have a losing season, and I don’t think they are going to have a losing season.
Fin - April 10, 2009
I honestly had not considered that, but I'm not a complete pessimist so I've got that much going for me.
I’m really hoping GMZ keeps Beltre.
