More Bunts Next Time
Tony S - April 18, 2009
So, even though it was a loss...
Bedard’s back, right? Because Adam Jones has a .408/.489/.769 (9 extra base hits!) and there needs to be some sort of consolation prize.
Frosty Raptor - April 18, 2009
There is no consolation.
msb - April 18, 2009
Yes, Bedard is back.
But, the trade was still stupid. But we need to get over it, it’s done. We don’t have Jones and we didn’t get Varitek/Lowe in their glory years. But that’s what happens with bad trades.
We’ve got Bedard. Hopefully, he’ll be around long enough that we enjoy a September to remember.
Sinking Away - April 18, 2009
There is no consolation for that trade.
Just get over it, and enjoy Erik.
appleshampoo - April 18, 2009
To be fair though, this isn't about wallowing in despair
It’s about being mindful of a trade that may still cause significant damage to the Mariners. Of course the trade cannot be reversed now, but the possibility of salvaging something from it is still playing out.
Frosty Raptor - April 18, 2009
I still...
hate losing!
Frustrating night with no run support.
mwalter - April 18, 2009
I was at the CF bleachers at teh game but it looked like EriKKKKKKKK was being squeezed the enitre game can anybody say yea or nay?
It was a tough night and the crowd got bored in the top of the ninth and we just did the wave until the inning ended.
Slurvey - April 18, 2009
There is never, ever, ever any excuse to take part in a wave.
But yes, Erik did seem like he was getting squeezed. It wouldn’t have mattered though, because the offense was absolutely offensive.
Ronny Cedeno should get an open tryout for short very soon.
cwel87 - April 18, 2009
I also believe that Clement should be getting some time in as well.
I’m getting pretty tired of Yuni right now and while Cedeno isn’t the answer he should at least be given a chance at SS especially since tomorrow is a day game and all and that would be a excellent time to put him in.
Slurvey - April 18, 2009
Hey Jose Lopez, you want to start doing some of that shit you were doing in the WBC?
Anytime now, bud..
And just wanted to point out one more time how DONE Mike Sweeney is
Rudy4three - April 18, 2009
That was one of the more ugly games I saw everybody was taking bad swings at pretty much everything.
And…

EriKKKKKKKK was solid, his pitch count got the better of him though. Corco was K-ing guys and getting flyballs. White is doing the impossible as well.
Slurvey - April 18, 2009
So I only caught glimpses of that game
What the fuck was Rob Johnson doing trying to steal second in the 8th?
Graham MacAree - April 18, 2009
Being aggressive!
Wak Ball!
Jeff Sullivan - April 18, 2009
When I saw him take off I knew it was gonna be bad.
Slurvey - April 18, 2009
Right after Sims commented on not seeing the percentages of Johnson stealing that late in the ballgame when down.
JAH - April 18, 2009
Aggressiveness is good
However, down two with one out already in the 8th – we don’t need the extra base that bad
mwalter - April 18, 2009
He had some explanation involving Jackson being slow to home plate and expected him to throw a ball in the dirt
Rudy4three - April 18, 2009
At least he had a reason?
Jeff Sullivan - April 18, 2009
Its always good
to bank on the pitcher throwing the ball in the dirt
mwalter - April 18, 2009
Well, it was Edwin Jackson.
Matthew - April 19, 2009
He is still a catcher though.
You can call him a “speedy” catcher but he’s still a catcher and shouldn’t even be stealing bases.
Slurvey - April 18, 2009
Busted hit and run was one excuse they gave on the radio
appleshampoo - April 18, 2009
I think we tend to win more games when we score more than zero runs.
JI - April 18, 2009
You fuckin scientists are taking all the fun out of the game
Jeff Sullivan - April 18, 2009
Edwin Jackson WTF?
Mariner John - April 18, 2009
What the fuck indeed
JI - April 18, 2009
If we had gotten Matt Joyce this would've never happened.
Mariner John - April 18, 2009
RE: the wave tonight
I hate the wave…absolutely hate it. Want to shoot everyone who does it. But some creative section in LF decided to have a counter-wave occur while the first wave began. So there ended up being two waves going in separate directions, and it worked amazing. Did I mention I hate the wave? But it was damn impressive. That is all.
kentroyals5 - April 18, 2009
If Jackson and Verlander
throw over the rest of the season the way they through over the last two games, the Tigers have a pretty solid team.
sammy - April 18, 2009
*threw
sammy - April 18, 2009
You're right, but can they keep this up?
I think not.
