Well at least the only 2 teams that we're going to have to compete with lost
But the Angels are going to be significantly better when their SP is more intact, so this isn’t really the time to be glad to hold a 2.5 game lead, this is our chance to build a decent lead in the division. We’re kinda fucking that up.
But today at the game, the stupid “Ask the M’s” question was “What was your favorite toy as a child?” Most players said the obvious (bat, ball, glove). Aardsma said his stuffed bear.
Having Clement and Balentien in the back end of the order would at least give this team some potential to actually get extra base hits. Of course you have to weigh the defense vs offense thing when talking Chavez vs Wlad.
However, the way Johnson and Burke have looked defensively, Im not so sure how much of a defensive downgrade Clement could possibly be.
Apparently, Carlos Silva isn't going to regress to the mean.
Maybe he ate it last year or something.
I don’t know what’s more frustrating, watching him pitch or realizing it’s a tossup between him, Beluga Tits and Jakubauskas as to who’s the second-best right-handed starting pitcher in the organization, thanks to Morrow closing.
I hate baseball
Corco - April 19, 2009
It may suck, but there's a lot of it.
abender20 - April 19, 2009
I prefer baseball to stabbing myself with a knife
BRKLN M'S - April 19, 2009
I just hate Silva.

I miss Russell.

We all do.
gregrabble - April 19, 2009

BRKLN M'S - April 19, 2009
Russell Branyan is the glue that holds this team together
Corco - April 19, 2009
Mlb.tv has been very unstable this year.
EnglishMariner - April 19, 2009
Yeah it just came back with 1 out and a 3-2 count on the second guy.
marinerdan - April 19, 2009
It's almost as if they just take the money and then laugh.
abender20 - April 19, 2009
Yeah, I have Gameday up all the time just in case
cwel87 - April 19, 2009
I still believe in some late inning comeback magic.
esoteric - April 19, 2009
I mean, this game is only half over.
esoteric - April 19, 2009
Silva will leave soon enough anyway.
esoteric - April 19, 2009
Then we get some hot Corco action.
esoteric - April 19, 2009
If you only miss Silva scheduled starts
You will have approximately 90-100 hours to work on personal development, such as:

Writing a Memoir
Tending a garden
Spending time with lonely loved ones
Volunteer work
Tony S - April 19, 2009
Not that anyone here cares
but James McDonald has some awful control, 41 strikes, 34 balls so far.
bluemax - April 19, 2009
How is that even possible?
abender20 - April 19, 2009
I don't know
but he only has 1 walk so far and 2 Ks 4 hits allowed and 1 hit batter. And he’s pitching a shut out.
bluemax - April 19, 2009
Wow
tootthekazoo - April 19, 2009
I wish we had a young promising hitter or two in the lineup, to at least make
watching our offense somewhat interesting. Watching aging veterans make outs is quite boring
Rudy4three - April 19, 2009
The only person that really fits that description today is Griffey.
BrianL - April 19, 2009
Burke as well. It's more about the lack of promising young hitters
that will be a part of this team’s future.
Rudy4three - April 19, 2009
We'd probably losing like 6-1 right now without good defense
gregrabble - April 19, 2009
Last year it would be 6-1 for sure
BRKLN M'S - April 19, 2009
Uhh we had Beltre last year
appleshampoo - April 19, 2009
mlb.tv sure is good at not going to commercial breaks
Dewey N - April 19, 2009
It's really annoying on radio
JI - April 19, 2009

Much like this offense.

Corco - April 19, 2009

Sarcasm
Corco - April 19, 2009

Let's do it Ronny
Own this guy again.
appleshampoo - April 19, 2009
Whoever does the local Bud ads on KIRO

That mispronounciation still isn’t as annoying as Pepsi MAX guy.
yuniform - April 19, 2009
God this team was so exciting up until this weekend
I miss it
gregrabble - April 19, 2009
At least they're quick!
Dewey N - April 19, 2009
56 pitches through 4.2 innings? Against the Mariners? No way.
abender20 - April 19, 2009
This offense is offensive.
ewakio - April 19, 2009
So Gutierrez can't hit at all?
Rudy4three - April 19, 2009
The Florida State League
scored more runs against this guy than we have.
marinerdan - April 19, 2009
Oh God we look terrible.
EnglishMariner - April 19, 2009
Good inning guys.
gregrabble - April 19, 2009

BRKLN M'S - April 19, 2009
This doesn't sound like the type of request typically made of God
seattlebruin - April 19, 2009

tootthekazoo - April 19, 2009
Boned.

Instead of watching Silva pitch next weekend, I'm just going to forcefeed myself a beehive.
abender20 - April 19, 2009
I recommend this choice.

Gutierrez fooled me that first series. He really can't hit.
Rudy4three - April 19, 2009
He's streaky
cwel87 - April 19, 2009
I think he just stinks at hitting.
Rudy4three - April 19, 2009
I don't think this is true
Jeff Sullivan - April 19, 2009
He hit alright as recently as 2007
JI - April 19, 2009
That was an adequate year. He was bad last year.
Rudy4three - April 19, 2009
He was well above average for a CFer
I don’t get why you’d want to give up on a 26 year old player because he’s had one bad week.
JI - April 19, 2009
I am talking about him as purely a hitter. I said nothing about his defense or his
overall value. I also did not say anything about getting rid of him. I just said he’s not a good hitter.
Rudy4three - April 19, 2009
And I'm saying it's too early to tell because it's been one week
JI - April 19, 2009
JI was saying he was a well above average hitter for a center fielder.
Not that he was well above average value wise for a center fielder. Though with his defense, he undoubtedly was.
joof - April 19, 2009
I believe.
joof - April 19, 2009
Do you think he's not good or do you think he stinks?
Those are two very different things and I only agree with one of them.
Jeff Sullivan - April 19, 2009
I would say right now he's not good
but the potential for adequacy is real
JI - April 19, 2009
Adequacy != good
but yes.
Jeff Sullivan - April 19, 2009
I would say adequate hitters are valuable
But it’s just semantics at this point
JI - April 19, 2009
I don't think he's good.
Rudy4three - April 19, 2009
That is... so sad.
JI - April 19, 2009
Oh man messy facial.
EnglishMariner - April 19, 2009
Disturbing
BRKLN M'S - April 19, 2009
Mike Blowers is almost certainly trying to sleep with the Rally Fry lady (Cynthia)
abender20 - April 19, 2009

gregrabble - April 19, 2009

tootthekazoo - April 19, 2009
How many swinging strikes did Silva get today?
Fett42 - April 19, 2009

Jeff Sullivan - April 19, 2009
So Lower got that in 4% of the pitches it took Silva

Not quite reliable though
Dewey N - April 19, 2009

Dewey N - April 19, 2009
As long as Wak doesn't break Lowe.
abender20 - April 19, 2009

It would have been good for her to see the level of anger baseball is capable of generating.
abender20 - April 19, 2009
I want her to like it though.

thewyrm - April 19, 2009

The Yuniwheels are coming off
Big Jared - April 19, 2009
Let's send Yuni back to Cuba
esoteric - April 19, 2009
Yuni covers his glove and hand with vaseline before each half inning
Dewey N - April 19, 2009
HAHAHA It's the Yuniesky Show ladies and gents!
Step right up and watch Ronny Cedeno wet himself.
abender20 - April 19, 2009
Yuni needs about a week off, clear his head, cause this is insane.
Heydude - April 19, 2009
The M's are about to have lost 3 of their last 4 games!
Fett42 - April 19, 2009
Griffey gets to that
Dewey N - April 19, 2009
Batista and Yuni SUCK!

Zwakamatsu - April 19, 2009
hahahahahahah, fuck you Yuni.
MFAN - April 19, 2009
Only 149 games until 2010
Corco - April 19, 2009
Like we'll be any better...
Rudy4three - April 19, 2009
I was kinda hoping that would happen.
Inning should’ve been over.
ThundaPC - April 19, 2009
Ironically enough, Batista has done a decent enough job.
esoteric - April 19, 2009
Comeback time!
Dewey N - April 19, 2009
I'll bet you $40 right now we don't come within 5 runs
Corco - April 19, 2009
I will take this bet only on the grounds that you are not able to and will not ever be able to collect from me
Dewey N - April 19, 2009
Paypal
Corco - April 19, 2009
It could be worse.
At least it’s not 2008.
ChaseB - April 19, 2009
Well at least the only 2 teams that we're going to have to compete with lost
But the Angels are going to be significantly better when their SP is more intact, so this isn’t really the time to be glad to hold a 2.5 game lead, this is our chance to build a decent lead in the division. We’re kinda fucking that up.
gregrabble - April 19, 2009
This is the problem with scoreboard watching in April.
ThundaPC - April 19, 2009
Batista forgot how many outs there were.
That was your 4th out, man.
ThundaPC - April 19, 2009
I'm starting to think Miguel Batista might be a bad pitcher.
JI - April 19, 2009
Surely this isn't his fault.
He got two double play balls in a row that Yuni booted.
abender20 - April 19, 2009
I'm starting to think you know what you are talking about
Corco - April 19, 2009
You forgot the 'not'.
ThundaPC - April 19, 2009
I chose my words carefully.
JI - April 19, 2009
Clement comma J
marinerdan - April 19, 2009
Ryan Perry would fit right in in the Mariners bullpen
Dewey N - April 19, 2009

Postponed >:(

Postponed, which is odd

Perhaps there’s something worse on the way.
esoteric - April 19, 2009

esoteric - April 19, 2009
Being down 7 runs will do that

gregrabble - April 19, 2009
I just popped in to see if the Yuni meltdown here was as glorious as the one in my apartment.
Bench that fucker.
Teej - April 19, 2009
I'm just wondering if Nemesis will bring the Furies when she calls on Yuni.
msb - April 19, 2009
Yahoo fantasy baseball stat trackers says the last play for the Rockies game was
undefined single to left
gregrabble - April 19, 2009
Right*
gregrabble - April 19, 2009
It was neither a GB, LD, or FB?
BRKLN M'S - April 19, 2009
No it says the players name was undefined lol
“undefined singled to right”
gregrabble - April 19, 2009
I guess it could've been anyone
BRKLN M'S - April 19, 2009

CHEAP ROUNDS AT NORM'S - April 19, 2009
Good AB Yuni
He had a real good day.
gregrabble - April 19, 2009
He saw 3 freaking pitches.
WOW.
Heydude - April 19, 2009
So did Beltre
Dewey N - April 19, 2009
Beltre still somehow sucked less... I just know it
gregrabble - April 19, 2009
Kinda a toss up today.
Yuni’s errors are the tie breaker.
Heydude - April 19, 2009
I meant specifically in their ABs in the 9th
gregrabble - April 19, 2009
Oh, ok.
In which case, I agree. Beltre’s was better.
Heydude - April 19, 2009
Yuni definitely sucked more today in general, Beltre had 2 great plays and a hit
gregrabble - April 19, 2009
Some guy booed Yuni quite loudly.
kentroyals5 - April 19, 2009
People notice who is good and who is bad sometimes
BRKLN M'S - April 19, 2009
That was Graham.
Aaron Campeau - April 19, 2009
It was clearly a man with a deep voice...
kentroyals5 - April 19, 2009
That was Graham.
royalcurve - April 19, 2009
I was taken aback myself, but it was Graham.
Aaron Campeau - April 19, 2009
Was it just booing or insults?
Rudy4three - April 19, 2009
Just booing.
Though he did tell someone who gave him stink eye “I wouldn’t boo him if he was good.” I think that’s what he said anyway.
royalcurve - April 19, 2009
I'm pretty good a booing
Graham MacAree - April 19, 2009
That would've been an awesome groundout.
ThundaPC - April 19, 2009

Dewey N - April 19, 2009
If Cedeno hits a three-run HR here, we'll only need one more 3-run HR to tie it
BRKLN M'S - April 19, 2009
Man the remaining 2,000 fans are getting pumped
gregrabble - April 19, 2009

gregrabble - April 19, 2009
Fuck
That sucked. I can’t believe I got up early for that. :p
section331 - April 19, 2009
I don't know if anyone mentioned this
But today at the game, the stupid “Ask the M’s” question was “What was your favorite toy as a child?” Most players said the obvious (bat, ball, glove). Aardsma said his stuffed bear.
Corcoran said “Mud.”
themoose - April 19, 2009
Aardsma's bear was named Brewster!
Aaron Campeau - April 19, 2009
Yep, I saw the mud thing, too
I love Roy. And Brewster.
section331 - April 19, 2009
Hilarious.
Teej - April 19, 2009
While our offense would still probably struggle.
Rudy4three - April 19, 2009
Apparently, Carlos Silva isn't going to regress to the mean.
Maybe he ate it last year or something.
I don’t know what’s more frustrating, watching him pitch or realizing it’s a tossup between him, Beluga Tits and Jakubauskas as to who’s the second-best right-handed starting pitcher in the organization, thanks to Morrow closing.
eponymous_coward - April 19, 2009
When Clement comes up he sould be like:
“I heard you guys need a bailout”
Cedeno hit a HR today hopefully that influences the team to give him more starts at SS…
So 2nd time we lost 2 in a row maybe we’re gonna hit another 6 game winning streak or something.
