A interesting little thing about the guy we are going up against tomorrow from Beyond The Box Score
Anthony Ortega isn’t fooling anyone. Ortega was named the Angel’s minor league pitcher of the year in 2008 thanks to 14 wins and a 3.52 ERA. His peripherals were not really outstanding and now batters are catching up with him…and how. Out of the 237 pitches he has thrown, only four have been for swinging strikes. He has a K/PA of 3%. Oh, and he has 15 earned runs in 13.2 innings. Owie.
His fastball sits at 88-93 max 95, average change and curve if he can locate it. He profiles best as a reliever so the Mariners could aide his career progression by having a blowout, charity is a good thing ain’t it?
It was awesome and the M’s rock! Very solid game and it was fun to see Angel fans pissed off about their team playing bad.
I wore all my M’s gear and got heckled until Branyan hit the homer in the second and then everyone shut up. Everyone was in red…very few Mariner fans there but we bonded together. Great game: 11-6 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
up the middle in the early going. I wondered again if he was just positioned wrong to make those plays easily and thus they took a little longer to develop
It's messed up but I'm hoping Yuni plays himself out of the line up.
That’s all kinds of wrong because it means he’s playing badly and therefore hurting the team, but there you go. I just don’t like him, he’s too inconsistent and I really don’t like that in a starting position player.

Also, where did Shawn Kelley fit into the organisational mix at the end of last year? Because I have been impressed with him so far, however I had never heard of him until the middle of spring training and this makes me feel like a bad fan.
Shawn Kelley started out in Wisconsin last year, then worked his way up to High Desert and West Tenn. Most people had never heard of him before. Except me because I’m like that.
Two runners on base.
David Wright hits a lazy flyball to centerfield.
Elijah Dukes takes his lazy ass time to get under the ball.
The ball drops in for an error.
Two runs score and a third is tacked on to make it 3-0 Mets.
It was pathetic. Pretty much put the nail in the coffin for the Nats winning today.
What was the most important hit and pitch?

Im Sorry is it just me?
Or are the “events” upside down on these charts?
Paseman - April 24, 2009
They are.
For the fangraph charts they home team is on the top half and to get us on top (hahaha) he flipped it.
Slurvey - April 24, 2009
turn your monitor upside down
Will Kier - April 24, 2009

Will Kier - April 24, 2009
It's you
JI - April 25, 2009
You don't turn your computer upside-down when you go to Fangraphs?
Teej - April 25, 2009
Half the time
JI - April 25, 2009
I just stand on my head--
less messy than dealing with with all the cords …
msb - April 25, 2009
Buy a laptop.
Much easier.
JY - April 25, 2009
I have a laptop .... still has too many wires.

Watch him own us tomorrow.
Susheel Ramasahayam - April 24, 2009
I don't know...
A guy who doesn’t miss bats? I think that is perfect for this line-up.
SebastianPruiti - April 24, 2009
If this were last year I'd agree with you 100%
sooper jeenyus - April 25, 2009

tdot mariner fan - April 24, 2009
I'd feel really good about tomorrow if not for the fact we have
shitbags pitching.
Rudy4three - April 24, 2009
Any predictions on the score?
Maybe 12-10? Too high?
M'sin.. - April 24, 2009
12-10 Mariners of course (:
M'sin.. - April 24, 2009
Silva had been okay-ish so far.
Aaron Campeau - April 24, 2009
I, for one, welcome our new Branyan overlords.
waldo rojas - April 24, 2009
Dammit I missed some Love Muscle!
chinn - April 24, 2009
Woooooo Mariners!
And in other news, Brandon Webb has been shut down for at least another 3 weeks, putting Arizona’s season on life support.
Woooooo Mariners!
Goose - April 24, 2009
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
suck it Angels
seattlebruin - April 24, 2009
Just got home from the game!!!!
It was awesome and the M’s rock! Very solid game and it was fun to see Angel fans pissed off about their team playing bad.

mwalter - April 25, 2009
Good stuff!!
EnglishMariner - April 25, 2009
Was it just me or did Monkey look mobile tonight?
Mariner John - April 25, 2009
It was just you
everything was hit right at him.
seattlebruin - April 25, 2009
He made quite a few nice plays
up the middle in the early going. I wondered again if he was just positioned wrong to make those plays easily and thus they took a little longer to develop
mwalter - April 25, 2009
Everything was hit to where he should have been.
But he actually had to move a bit to get them.
Rollo Tomasi - April 25, 2009
Well at least he made the plays tonight
for that I’m thankful
mwalter - April 25, 2009
He didn't look good moving side to side
he looked fine charging the ball, but he always looks fine charging the ball.
seattlebruin - April 25, 2009
That bare hand play was fairly nifty though.
I still don’t want him starting but at least he didn’t leisurely walk to every ball.
Mariner John - April 25, 2009
Definitely, it was a nice play
he looked like he positioned himself a lot better today
seattlebruin - April 25, 2009
Though I'll admit I spent a lot more time trying to figure out how Bedard's curve was doing than watching how Yuni positioned himself
seattlebruin - April 25, 2009
It's messed up but I'm hoping Yuni plays himself out of the line up.
That’s all kinds of wrong because it means he’s playing badly and therefore hurting the team, but there you go. I just don’t like him, he’s too inconsistent and I really don’t like that in a starting position player.
Kermit. - April 25, 2009
I hope the opposite, honestly.
Yuni has way too much talent to suck this much
seattlebruin - April 25, 2009
He barely made it to balls that should've been routine for any shortstop
Not really impressive
OlSalty - April 25, 2009
More than I expected of him.
Mariner John - April 25, 2009
So yea, we clinched .500 for the month of April.
ThundaPC - April 25, 2009
Holy shit Larry Stone is hilarious
Fett42 - April 25, 2009
holy shit context
JY - April 25, 2009
Help me out.
I am failing to see it.
Wilder. - April 25, 2009
Hmmmm...
This, maybe?
Of course, I cannot abide by any Mariners-based movie that does not cast Carel Struycken as Bavasi.
JY - April 25, 2009
Oh, I thought it was something about his post yesterday.
But yeah, pretty funny.

No worries.

JY - April 25, 2009
Oh esoteric,
Elijah Dukes tsk tsk tsk.
Wilder. - April 25, 2009
Context?*
*Because I am curious.
EnglishMariner - April 25, 2009
Two outs in the bottom of the 1st.
Two runners on base.
David Wright hits a lazy flyball to centerfield.
Elijah Dukes takes his lazy ass time to get under the ball.
The ball drops in for an error.
Two runs score and a third is tacked on to make it 3-0 Mets.

Wilder. - April 25, 2009
Sitting in Nationals Park
Listening to Nats fans talk about there team was hilarious in a sad way.
Scruffy Lefty - April 25, 2009
They are like the Mariners in the 80's.
Strasburg could be their Griffey, though.
Wilder. - April 25, 2009
Less likely playing once every 5 games
Fett42 - April 25, 2009
They can have our Griffey.
I still want Strasburg :(
JY - April 25, 2009
Elijah Dukes might be the dumbest fuck in Major League Baseball.
Aaron Campeau - April 25, 2009
Oh, why limit him by baseball.
msb - April 25, 2009
Because the Cincinnati Bengals and the entire NBA exist.
Matthew - April 25, 2009
Also the Oakland Raiders
