Just got home, I found out what happened in both games and feel the same way.
I’m happy we won and that he contributed, and honestly hope that he intends to play like I believe he is capable of playing. On the other hand, I think he’s been given enough chances already, and that he will never consistently play “professional” baseball.
I know that defense at catcher is kinda just said to be a wash
and everyone is about league average, is there an arm stat like they have for outfielders? I haven’t seen anything around, so are there some complications that I can’t think of that have stopped this from happening? Has it been done and shown to be inconclusive? It seems that AJ’s not throwing ANYONE out so far has to be costing Chicago some runs.
Neihaus can’t give anything resembling good analysis either. The main responsibility of the play by play announcer is to have a nice, pleasant voice, be a good storyteller, keep your catchphrases reasonably fresh, and go nuts when something cool happens – and Dave and Dave are both outstanding at it.
You know, I've watched more games this year than the last few years combined.
Dave Sims is starting to grow on me. When I asked who people would prefer between him and Rex Hudler, I was sadly mistaken, as Dave does a fine job calling a game and shows emotion, which I like. But the way he won’t let go of the Johnson speed deal annoys me. Don’t worry. I’ll work past it.
If the reports are projecting him correctly, a lefty who’s a league average hitter with good defense in Safeco Field. We’ve spent 15 years looking for such a left-fielder.
I just like Endy’s flexibility, in that he could fulfill both roles if necessary. Saunders as a starter and Endy as the 4th outfielder would be ideal to me, so long as we’re not overpaying for his services. No matter what the answers, thanks for the RBIs.
I’d have to think, if Felix finishes this up, we’d do something that might make Tim Kurkjian pleased. Two complete games in a doubleheader can’t be common these days.
Well, they have been pretty killer today
Sportszilla - April 28, 2009

OlSalty - April 28, 2009

Yuni, seriously?
qrsouther - April 28, 2009
God damnit I just found out Yuni homered.
And just got a seeing eye single and is 3-3. He’s going to fucking keep his job isn’t he.
Zwakamatsu - April 28, 2009
Oh and 4 RBIs! Hitting almost .300! Cedeno who?
Zwakamatsu - April 28, 2009
Cedeno's lame hamstring doesn't hurt his prospects either.

OH MY FUCKING GOD

Zwakamatsu - April 28, 2009

Dewey N - April 28, 2009
It was a shocker.
mark sobba - April 28, 2009
It barely left
Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
So why was Chicago playing the infield in down 5-0?
Sportszilla - April 28, 2009
So that Yuni could hit a dribbler for an RBI
abender20 - April 28, 2009
To make sure he gets the RBI and stays in the lineup tomorrow.
Decatur - April 28, 2009
I'm happy and unhappy that Yuni is getting hits.
It buys him the time in the starting nine to come back and screw us later on down the road.

section331 - April 28, 2009
This is a reply to Zwakamatsu's falling in love with Sims
What got me was the Sims’ call for the catch Gutz made crashing into the Safeco centerfield wall. “Oh, BABY, he made the catch!”
That was priceless.
Decatur - April 28, 2009
I'll like Sims more when he stops calling Rob Johnson's speed "good".
Or at least qualifies it by saying “…for a catcher” afterwards.
JLProck - April 28, 2009
100% agreed.
Heydude - April 28, 2009
I don't really mind.
Neihaus can’t give anything resembling good analysis either. Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
I'm starting to not want him to leave next season
OlSalty - April 28, 2009
I would be ecstatic if we could re-sign Branyan and Endy for a reasonable price
JLC - April 28, 2009
Saunders is coming
Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
Isn't he still out with injury?
Even if Saunders can return by mid season, it seems unlikely that he’ll be able to impress much. He had some struggles at AAA last season.
I love Endy as the 4th outfielder and a backup to Gutierrez. Keeping him around for 2 years at a reasonable price doesn’t sound like a bad idea to me.
JLC - April 28, 2009
He'll be back very soon
Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
This week, apparently
Graham MacAree - April 28, 2009
Oh baby...
If the reports are projecting him correctly, a lefty who’s a league average hitter with good defense in Safeco Field. We’ve spent 15 years looking for such a left-fielder.
Decatur - April 28, 2009
Too many Ks
Graham MacAree - April 28, 2009
What's he need to cut his K-rate down to to have a good shot at being a league average hitter?
Decatur - April 28, 2009
We already had Winn :(
Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
But the Fates ripped from our hands :(
(Bavasi = the Fates)
Decatur - April 28, 2009
*ripped Winn from our hands
Decatur - April 28, 2009
So do you think Saunders' defense + offense over the next, say, 2 years, as a bench bat
is more useful to the team than Endy Chavez in the same role at a few million per season?
JLC - April 28, 2009
I see Saunders as a starter instead of a bench bat
I’d be thrilled with Endy as a fourth OF but if Saunders develops as I expect him to this summer, I want him to have the opportunity to start.
Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
I agree
I just like Endy’s flexibility, in that he could fulfill both roles if necessary. Saunders as a starter and Endy as the 4th outfielder would be ideal to me, so long as we’re not overpaying for his services. Even if we are overpaying, the recent trend teams are taking to valuing defense makes me believe Chavez could be traded, especially if 2009 is a mid-career resurgence for him.
JLC - April 28, 2009
Saunders has a good chance to be a starting outfielder within the next year
Depends on how he does at Tacoma

Zwakamatsu - April 28, 2009

qrsouther - April 28, 2009
GMZ's the only guy who ever really gave Branyan a chance.
Here and in Milwaukee.
Decatur - April 28, 2009
I wasn't aware he gave him time in Milwaukee.
If he hits 30 HR’s he is going to be an absolute steal at 1.4 M. I thought he was older than 33 too. That’s pretty awesome.

JLProck - April 28, 2009
Well played
gregrabble - April 28, 2009
I see what you did there.
qrsouther - April 28, 2009
No what I was trying to say was that he is lucky on the mound tonight, while pitching. It seems like a lot of things are going his way.
I am sorry if my comment got construed as sexual in any way
Dewey N - April 28, 2009
;)
Dewey N - April 28, 2009
76% strikes for Felix tonight
Fett42 - April 28, 2009

Decatur - April 28, 2009
I wonder if Miguel Cairo is sad that he has only played 2 innings in the field all season
Corco - April 28, 2009
His paycheck probably cheers him up.
Jed MC - April 28, 2009
Miguel Cairo himself has no idea why he is in the major leagues.
shinallsrevenge - April 28, 2009
Miguel Cairo does not strike me as the kind of guy who is aware he sucks
Corco - April 28, 2009
I don't know, I just imagine him planning his retirement when Gillick calls
Gillick: We’d like you to come to spring training with an eye on making the club.
Cairo: …really?
shinallsrevenge - April 28, 2009
From what I understand he actually asked the Phillies if they'd take a chance on him

Lance Broadway is such a porn name
Bearskin Rugburn - April 28, 2009
No bullpen doubleheader
I’d have to think, if Felix finishes this up, we’d do something that might make Tim Kurkjian pleased. Two complete games in a doubleheader can’t be common these days.
Gihyou - April 28, 2009
Actually though, has this happened?
qrsouther - April 28, 2009
Does Jaku get credit for a complete game?
JLProck - April 28, 2009
Yes.
qrsouther - April 28, 2009
I have no idea.
Do you have to go nine frames to get credit for a complete game?
BrianL - April 28, 2009
Apparently not if your team loses a road game
I thought it was the case that you can have an 8-inning complete game in this circumstance, but I don’t know for sure.

JLProck - April 28, 2009
Ask for the chest until you get to know him better. You don't want to scare him off.
kevin_ess - April 28, 2009
They'd have to be playing the Indians.
Eyebrows - April 28, 2009
Yup
abender20 - April 28, 2009
You thought this would be in the middle of 40 or so comments of "YES FELIX" and be missed
Tony S - April 28, 2009
Let him have one last inning now.
qrsouther - April 28, 2009
Felix looks like such an arrogant asshole when he leaves the mound and I want to take his pants off because of it
Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
Get in line, asshole
abender20 - April 28, 2009
Soooo....
Then he’d be an arrogant asshole with no pants…??
section331 - April 28, 2009
I like to let the readers fill in the blanks
Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
While Felix fills in something else
Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
What is he filling in?
Dewey N - April 28, 2009
A junior jumble.
Matthew - April 28, 2009
Caulk. Everyone loves caulk.
kevin_ess - April 28, 2009
Felix is now tied for the AL lead in Ks and soon to be wins
Fett42 - April 28, 2009
Results based analysis!
I have no idea what that means, just always wanted to say it.
Kermit. - April 28, 2009
Perfect time for Batista.
yuniform - April 28, 2009
Outside of the 3rd and 4th inning Felix hasn't gotten many swinging strikes
I wonder if thats intentional
Fett42 - April 28, 2009
It certainly feels like it
as soon as this game got out of hand it looks like he’s just been pitching to contact to try to get the CG.
Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
Not that he's even needed it.
What did he get, 10 in the first four innings?
Matthew - April 28, 2009
What, no Branyan?
qrsouther - April 28, 2009
I believe they are used to him being this awesome.
So no vote require.
Fin - April 28, 2009
AHAHAHAHAHAHA
Wilder. - April 28, 2009
More impressive...
Hernandez or betancourt? A. The Muscle
CHEAP ROUNDS AT NORM'S - April 28, 2009
Hahahahahahahaha!
section331 - April 28, 2009
Lance Broadway is a hero
abender20 - April 28, 2009
No one up in the bullpen! Hells yeah!
Kermit. - April 28, 2009
Why would people text into a stupid poll?
Wilder. - April 28, 2009
I had to vote just to break the tie
Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
I can't believe it's even close.
Teej - April 28, 2009
BURKE TIME!
ThundaPC - April 28, 2009
Burke.
kevin_ess - April 28, 2009
Hit parade!
Dewey N - April 28, 2009
This is an embarassing game for the White Sox
gregrabble - April 28, 2009
Man I can't get over how awesome Dave Sims is.
Fin - April 28, 2009
Jamie Burke! Bang bang bang
abender20 - April 28, 2009
This game pleases me.
russak - April 28, 2009
Nevermind, Player of the game : Endy
CHEAP ROUNDS AT NORM'S - April 28, 2009
First hit of the year for Burke!
Eyebrows - April 28, 2009
Aww man let Felix finish
OlSalty - April 28, 2009
Dave Sims just said Yuni has played a terrific shortstop tonight
Did I miss that?
gregrabble - April 28, 2009
Corco in the pen!
Slurvey - April 28, 2009
There goes the shut out
gregrabble - April 28, 2009
NO NO NO NO
redwolf75 - April 28, 2009
Not Corco...
CHEAP ROUNDS AT NORM'S - April 28, 2009
NOOOOOO!!! MORE FELIX!!
section331 - April 28, 2009
Who is voting for Betancourt?
Gihyou - April 28, 2009
4 for 5?
Disappointing.
yuniform - April 28, 2009
4-4, reached on error.
qrsouther - April 28, 2009
That would be 4-5...
gregrabble - April 28, 2009
Christ, what was I talking about
My bad.
qrsouther - April 28, 2009
To be fair, Yuni's WPA is higher.
Matthew - April 28, 2009
I was wondering about that.
qrsouther - April 28, 2009
Wasn't the question
Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
My evil twin
CHEAP ROUNDS AT NORM'S - April 28, 2009
Reply fail
CHEAP ROUNDS AT NORM'S - April 28, 2009
Corco's in.
ThundaPC - April 28, 2009
Felix's night done :(
BrianL - April 28, 2009
Boo
Gihyou - April 28, 2009
We can still lose this game
Fett42 - April 28, 2009
Nononono nothing can go wrong now
Dewey N - April 28, 2009
Miguel Batista is lurking in the shadows, an evil grin stretching across his face
CHEAP ROUNDS AT NORM'S - April 28, 2009
.
JLC - April 28, 2009
Oh my God is he coming out with a new book?
Decatur - April 28, 2009
I have no idea
I’m not exactly a huge Miguel Batista follower
JLC - April 28, 2009
I just shivered
CHEAP ROUNDS AT NORM'S - April 28, 2009
Why did he have to use his own creepy eyes in the photo?
Judging from his pitching, he isn’t able to see what he’s staring at anyway.
kevin_ess - April 28, 2009
If anybody can make it possible for the Sox to hit a home run, it's Corco
Corco - April 28, 2009
True, but Batista could do it too.
Sinking Away - April 28, 2009
Anyone else feel like this is kind of Corcoran's last chance?
OlSalty - April 28, 2009
Jason Vargas is licking his lips
Tony S - April 28, 2009
I'd say he gets one more
But yeah, he’s getting there
Corco - April 28, 2009
Yuni is stil here, so who knows.
abender20 - April 28, 2009
I was thinking he was getting to the end of his rope then he goes and breaks one off tonight
Kermit. - April 28, 2009
That's basically how it goes. He pulled the same bullshit against the Rays too
abender20 - April 28, 2009
It takes more education to see a position player is sucking than a pitcher
A pitcher being awful is a lot more obvious
Corco - April 28, 2009
Yuni would require a neon flashing sign to be more obvious
abender20 - April 28, 2009
I think he's viewed as under achieving with a ceiling by a lot of people.
Personally I think he’s still trying to find the floor.
Kermit. - April 28, 2009
Maybe it's like that Jamaraqoui video...
With Yuni, the ceiling is actually the floor.
Decatur - April 28, 2009
Ahahahaha
qrsouther - April 28, 2009
Unless he figures out how to use his left hand
CHEAP ROUNDS AT NORM'S - April 28, 2009
Not exactly inspiring confidence right now either
OlSalty - April 28, 2009
Rangers beat the A's.
russak - April 28, 2009
Excellent
Decatur - April 28, 2009
He's behind
Keep going fastball
Dewey N - April 28, 2009
Impossible video to find on youtube:
The Sox fans attacking that 1st base ump.
Tony S - April 28, 2009
Hurry the fuck up Corco.
You better not blow this shutout.
russak - April 28, 2009
I said one solo home run not this bullshit
Corco - April 28, 2009
I'm okay with that now
JLC - April 28, 2009
Too bad nobody's listening.
Eyebrows - April 28, 2009
Don't summon demons like that...
Decatur - April 28, 2009
Fuck this shit
appleshampoo - April 28, 2009
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Slurvey - April 28, 2009
FUCK YOU CORCORAN
gregrabble - April 28, 2009
Way to blow the shutout.
Heydude - April 28, 2009
GOD DAMN IT CORCO
EVEN I, YOUR MOST LOYAL SUPPOTER, IS STARTING TO GET PISSED
Corco - April 28, 2009
You can be proactive and start that SBN Rainiers page
Tony S - April 28, 2009
Your kin is bullshit
abender20 - April 28, 2009
Hahaha fuck you Corcoran.
Zwakamatsu - April 28, 2009
Yea, your time is up, dude.
ThundaPC - April 28, 2009
Corco is a young Batista
Wilder. - April 28, 2009
Without the extended periiods of success
Corco - April 28, 2009
So Corco is soon to be gone
Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
Good one
Jeff Sullivan - April 28, 2009
Please remove yourself
krb - April 28, 2009
G'bye Corcoran.
Omerta - April 28, 2009
FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU CORCO.
russak - April 28, 2009
Corcoran's Last Stand
Isn’t going very well
Gihyou - April 28, 2009
win win win win win win felix FELIX mmmmm
Fett42 - April 28, 2009
MARINERS WIN@@
gregrabble - April 28, 2009
Good.
Game Over.
ThundaPC - April 28, 2009
YES!!!
I think Corco lives beecause of that DP
Corco - April 28, 2009
Thank you
CHEAP ROUNDS AT NORM'S - April 28, 2009
Considering how much time they've given Yuni and Silva
We’ll be seeing more of corco
IceStormV1 - April 28, 2009
Look at his face.
He knows he is going back to Tacoma.
Wilder. - April 28, 2009
I think that double play insures he'll continue to hang on by a thread
Corco - April 28, 2009
Finally, GAME OVER, M'S WIN!
Heydude - April 28, 2009
VICTORY!!!!!!!!!1
Tony S - April 28, 2009
YES!
I put this in a formal presentation to my lab last month.
Bearskin Rugburn - April 28, 2009

Matthew - April 28, 2009

Tony S - April 28, 2009
Is that Kevin Youkulis?
Tony S - April 28, 2009
Yeah
royalcurve - April 28, 2009
BALL GAME BABY
abender20 - April 28, 2009
Hah, even after that double play he had the look of a dead man
Omerta - April 28, 2009
Damn you slow connection.
Omerta - April 28, 2009
I was really worried at the start of the season that
sorting out the bullpen was going to be a painful process. This is just fine.
Bearskin Rugburn - April 28, 2009
Yeah I think Corcoran is gone after tonight
This kind of felt like a low-pressure situation they were testing him in and he kinda failed.
OlSalty - April 28, 2009
Good.
JLC - April 28, 2009
For some reason I assumed that when we two hit the White Sox in the first game that we won.
JI - April 28, 2009
That usually happens when you 2 hit a team
Corco - April 28, 2009
I was shocked to open the boxscore a see a loss
I had assumed we swept the DH at 9-0
JI - April 28, 2009
2 runs scored on the 3 baserunners they had all game.
ThundaPC - April 28, 2009
AHAHA FSN what the fuck was that
gregrabble - April 28, 2009
GO MARINERS!
.Taylor - April 28, 2009
