the Mets didn’t build a roof on their new stadium. Why would you not put a roof on your stadium if your team is located anywhere but Los Angeles or San Diego?
“ZOMG Curt Schilling pitched in the ALCS with a bleeding suture!” Schilling may have had a hole in his ankle, but Ichiro just went 4-6 with a game winning hit in the WBC Championship Game with a hole in his STOMACH. That a whole ’nother magnitude of beastliness.
By Monday folks will be saying that Ichiro is selfish because he played through it in the WBC but refused to play through it for the Mariners
(Despite the fact that during the WBC it went undiagnosed or the fact that even after he was diagnosed he pleaded with the FO not to put him on the DL)
It’s one thing if your shoulder or your knees are balking, but I think this was something he would have played through even if he was in camp with the club.
It sounds like things were manageable up until the team played Milwaukee.
You’re right about playing injured, Corco, but Ichiro takes better care of himself than anyone in baseball and couldn’t have diagnosed himself, so I think he gets a pass.
He’s a guy who can have some entertaining stories, but times where you suddenly say “what the crap are you talking about, and why have you been talking about it for 3 innings?”
All Little league and HS ball w/o wearing a cup. Probably should have but didn’t feel comfortable with it. Guess I got lucky as I played 2b and 1b and OF.
They had an ad on the radio side for the move to ESPN on monday morning ...
3 a.m. – 7 a. m. – “Mike and Mike in the Morning”
7 a.m.-11 a.m. – “The Herd with Colin Cowherd”
11 a.m.-3 p.m. – Brock Huard and Mike Salk
3 p.m. – 6 p.m. – Kevin Calabro
6 p.m.- 7 p.m. – Mariners pre-game show or ESPN GameNight
7 p.m.- 12 midnight – Mariners Play-by-Play broadcast or ESPN GameNight
Oh damn, my MLB.tv player just did something I did not like.
I was watching the game and it kicked over to the Rockies feed (not a big deal). So I decided to try using the Rockies feed to see if I got the Mariners feed. No dice. Instead, it kept the Rockies feed and took me back to the top of the 7th inning. I tried going back to the Mariners link, but it is at the same point. Weird. Hope this doesn’t happen during the regular season.
First half of the game, Dave did the play-by-play, with Blow & Frazier doing color
Dave left at his usual time, Blowers wandered off to get warmed up, and the Rockies crew took over. Blowers later was back, for the final inning or two.
BBTN just showed the Mariners projected lineup in the field.
I must say, I am really excited with who we have. Russ Branyan may be the most underrated free agent pickup this off-season. And then getting Endy and Gutz in the most underrated trade is freaking awesome.
We are going to surprise people as long as Bedard and Felix remain healthy.
I don't know how many people watch the pre-game,
but apparently, Ichiro tried to bargain his way out of a 15-day hiatus. Not that anyone needs more reasons to like the guy, but seriously = badass.

Unlike that French maid Bedard
Jeff Sullivan - April 3, 2009
That's what I'm sayin'!

I can't believe
the Mets didn’t build a roof on their new stadium. Why would you not put a roof on your stadium if your team is located anywhere but Los Angeles or San Diego?

Anyone else having problems with MLBTV online?
Game isn’t showing up…
ChaseB - April 3, 2009
Hasn't started yet.
bluemax - April 3, 2009
Yeah
I figured that out about a second after I posted
ChaseB - April 3, 2009
And there it is.
bluemax - April 3, 2009
Gameday is on the frontpage now I wonder if they'll have PFX and pitch type running...
Slurvey - April 3, 2009
Don't believe they have a PITCHf/x system installed in Las Vegas
Jeff Sullivan - April 3, 2009
They didn't for the Yankees/Cubs and Red Socks/Mets games.
bluemax - April 3, 2009
"Ichiro had symptoms before WBC"
Did you see this? Larry Stone reporting.
This just makes the legend of Ichiro grow.

BrianL - April 3, 2009
I'm an avid Ichiro supporter
But if he wasn’t feeling 100% and knew it and went to the WBC anyway then that’s not OK.
You don’t play for a team you aren’t under contract with unless you’re 100%. I don’t care who you are.
Corco - April 3, 2009
I don't know.
It’s one thing if your shoulder or your knees are balking, but I think this was something he would have played through even if he was in camp with the club.
It sounds like things were manageable up until the team played Milwaukee.
BrianL - April 3, 2009
And when you think it is something like "indigestion"
you put up with it, and get on with your job.
msb - April 3, 2009
That's probably true
Corco - April 3, 2009
That was partly tongue-in-cheek
You’re right about playing injured, Corco, but Ichiro takes better care of himself than anyone in baseball and couldn’t have diagnosed himself, so I think he gets a pass.

Sorry...

So did Dave ....
he was predicting many balls flying out before the game began.
any one catch who George, the Rockies color guy sitting in is? Obviously, a former pitcher…
msb - April 3, 2009
ah
one George Frazier
msb - April 3, 2009
Yeah, us Rockies fans apologize
Just got in, but he didn’t go on about hot dogs with mayo did he? I got in right when he was going on about taking the umps golfing or some weird crap
frightened inmate #2 - April 3, 2009
No hot dogs ... yet.
entertaining in an odd way for one game, but I sure can’t imagine listening to him every game.
I like mayo on a hot dog, myself. You mix it with the mustard.

Aaron Campeau - April 3, 2009
I was at first
It’s just choppy now
ChaseB - April 3, 2009
A little on the rocky-side still.
But yea, MLB Adobe Flash player is awesome.

Aaron Campeau - April 3, 2009
ENDY!
Slurvey - April 3, 2009
How the hell did he stretch that into a double?
joof - April 3, 2009
Hustle, Grit, Heart, and Soul oh yeah and probably Skill.
Slurvey - April 3, 2009
Sweet sweet base running
wadswerth - April 3, 2009
Whoa, what the?
Was fooling around with Gameday. They’re sporting off some new batter/pitcher features in the A’s vs. Giants game.
ThundaPC - April 3, 2009
It's free until April 19th it looks pretty sweet.
Slurvey - April 3, 2009
Speaking of free
I assume Comcast will have their usual free preview of the Extra Innings package next week…
msb - April 3, 2009
Somebody please stabilize the camera.
BrianL - April 3, 2009
Poor Dave =(
joof - April 3, 2009
Endy, endy. endy...
Slurvey - April 3, 2009
Wow
This is going to be ugly
ChaseB - April 3, 2009
The importance of defense.

35 mph winds?
msb - April 3, 2009
I'm so excited for Gutierrez.
BrettJMiller - April 3, 2009
WHoa what passed by that registered a 105 MPH on the radar gun?
Slurvey - April 3, 2009
My guess that is the bat.
mark sobba - April 3, 2009
What an unfortunate Ichiro bobblehead commercial.
BrianL - April 3, 2009
Better than the weirdo in the pup tent.
Only JJ has really carried off talking to the bobbleheads.
msb - April 3, 2009
"Can I have some of your cotton candy? No? That's okay, you probably need that for energy."

ChaseB - April 3, 2009
OUCH!
Slurvey - April 3, 2009
Looks as though Rob Johnson got nutted?
Cups, motherfuckers!
BrettJMiller - April 3, 2009
I learned the hard way as well to wear a cup...
Slurvey - April 3, 2009
Beltre still doesn't wear one.
I don’t think I could play that close to a batter without a cup. CF, maybe. 3B? Hell no.
BrettJMiller - April 3, 2009
I think playing any of the infield positions without a cup is crazy.
BrianL - April 3, 2009
Pinch job?
msb - April 3, 2009
I payed
All Little league and HS ball w/o wearing a cup. Probably should have but didn’t feel comfortable with it. Guess I got lucky as I played 2b and 1b and OF.
MattoB - April 3, 2009
Meh I am a P, 2B, OF
I was pitching when it happen I had no time to react… It hurt… A lot…
Slurvey - April 3, 2009
So where's that photo I posted of Robby J????
OW
PositivePaul - April 3, 2009
Sucks to be an outfielder today.
BrianL - April 3, 2009
Failure Chavez
wadswerth - April 3, 2009
Endy must be feeling snakebit.
msb - April 3, 2009
"Hey Wlad, want to switch positions?"
BrianL - April 3, 2009
Chavez... you are a Mariner now.
Just need to GIDP with 3 on to end an inning.
mark sobba - April 3, 2009
Or a couple of infield pop ups Yuni style.
wadswerth - April 3, 2009
I guess we're going to have to call him Rob X now
OlSalty - April 3, 2009
Psst, you know who should take Ichiro's roster spot?
JEFF CLEMENT
OlSalty - April 3, 2009
In RF?
ralphie81 - April 3, 2009
DH
Griffey is likely playing in the field for a few games anyways
OlSalty - April 3, 2009
I think
I’d almost rather have Clement out there.
ralphie81 - April 3, 2009
I'd rather have Clement at SS than Yuni
Decatur - April 3, 2009
Ichiro update

msb - April 3, 2009
Who's wearing no. 94?
msb - April 3, 2009
ah-- Callix Sadeaq Crabbe
msb - April 3, 2009
Sweet
Now we get to see Wilson flail around in LF.
appleshampoo - April 3, 2009
So, all Roy needed was to get out of Arizona?
msb - April 3, 2009
They had an ad on the radio side for the move to ESPN on monday morning ...
3 a.m. – 7 a. m. – “Mike and Mike in the Morning”
7 a.m.-11 a.m. – “The Herd with Colin Cowherd”
11 a.m.-3 p.m. – Brock Huard and Mike Salk

7 p.m.- 12 midnight – Mariners Play-by-Play broadcast or ESPN GameNight
msb - April 3, 2009
Yay Kevin Calabro!
Seriously though, why is Groz still at KJR?
BrianL - April 3, 2009
How do you think Brock Huard's going to work out?
Kermit. - April 3, 2009
He's managed to put up with Mahler for years ...
msb - April 3, 2009
Well it beats the hell out of listening to Hugh Millen.
BrianL - April 3, 2009
Probably with a BowFlex.
kevin_ess - April 3, 2009
I'm going to punch you in the neck
Kermit. - April 3, 2009
What was that weird bow-like exerciser that Randy Johnson used to do the ads for?
msb - April 3, 2009
Wow I missed that one. The mental image of Randy excercising is blowing my mind.
Kermit. - April 3, 2009
Aha!
the bodyblade
msb - April 3, 2009
Mike and Mike is a good show.
Not really informative but it is good family morning fun.
mark sobba - April 3, 2009
Golic is awesome.
And Greenberg has become less of a dork over the years. They put on a good show.
Wilder. - April 3, 2009
One thing about KJR's switch to Fox?
They made the ESPN talking heads sound infinitely better.
msb - April 3, 2009
My god, the FOX shows are terrible
tootthekazoo - April 3, 2009
You are not kidding, my friend.
and the callers. oy.
msb - April 3, 2009
For some reason, I keep expecting to see Jose Vidro step to the plate.
If there is one player I am happy to never see in a Mariners uniform again, it is him.
Wilder. - April 3, 2009
One of my favorite M's memories, his last game.
Topped only by the day we unloaded Silva and Batista.
Kermit. - April 3, 2009
Silva will be around for a long time to remind us of the misery that Bavasi brought us.
Fin - April 3, 2009
I am right there with you.
It is like baseball PTSD.
mark sobba - April 3, 2009
Glendon's looking a little chunkier these days.
oh, sorry, I of course meant ’Shoreline’s own Glendon Rusch’…
msb - April 3, 2009
So I am watching BBTN.
Stephania Bell was just talking about Ichiro’s injury. And then I looked at Stephania and… well, you be the judge:

Oh, but hey, there is an option to jump to innings.
And I clicked on the Bot 8th and now it is showing the Bot 1st. Maybe if I keep going, it will take me back to 1995!
Wilder. - April 3, 2009
Radio feed or TV feed.
TV wise, I thought the Rockies feed was the only one, with Neihaus and Blowers just hanging out with the Rockies broadcasters.
ThundaPC - April 3, 2009
Is that how it was?
And I just figured out how to go live again. The NexDef feed is apparently delayed, which I do not like.
Wilder. - April 3, 2009
Blowers is on FSN
ralphie81 - April 3, 2009

Totally agreed on Branyan. He's going to give us 25-30 HR this season.
kevin_ess - April 3, 2009
Great. We're never going to reach the post pre-season with play like this.
Another damned loss. Fire GMZ.
kevin_ess - April 3, 2009
