Or maybe no one wants to call it by that name because the constant renaming of stadiums to appease cooperate interests is lame and it's clear I am referring to the park formerly known as New Comesky
Looking at the database, it just looks like whoever scored that game put KN in there instead of XX (which is the unknown pitch type). I’m sure this will get fixed in the next day or two. Usually it takes 1-2 days after for the pitch data to be properly recorded anyway.
So I think pitch f/x might need fixing in Chicago
Graham MacAree - April 30, 2009
The pitch type numbers on FanGraphs
Are not Pitch F/x. That’s data from BIS.
davidcameron - April 30, 2009
So I think BIS needs fixing in Chicago
Graham MacAree - April 30, 2009
The pitch f/x broke a lot too.
Matthew - April 30, 2009
Perhaps CHicago is the thing that needs fixing.
Aaron Campeau - April 30, 2009
I've heard Comiskey is a terrible place to see a game.
JI - April 30, 2009
Doubly so since it's been torn down
Robert Lintott - April 30, 2009
I've heard that we all can't even pronounce Chicago correctly!
johnbai - May 1, 2009
It actually is still standing given that we played a three game series there fairly recently.
JI - May 1, 2009
Or maybe US Cellular Field is still standing.
Sec 108 - May 1, 2009
Or maybe no one wants to call it by that name because the constant renaming of stadiums to appease cooperate interests is lame and it's clear I am referring to the park formerly known as New Comesky
JI - May 1, 2009
I don't think anyone calls it New Comesky
Graham MacAree - May 1, 2009
It appears that JI does.
Robert - May 1, 2009
Just Comiskey
JI - May 1, 2009
So you never call it Safeco Field, then?
Just Mariners Stadium?
pdb - May 1, 2009
New Kingsometimesdome
Graham MacAree - May 1, 2009
Home
Jeff Sullivan - May 1, 2009
Safeco was never called anything else. US Cell was.
I think you are being unfair in your example here.
Matthew - May 1, 2009
It's still a valid question
I was asking because if he doesn’t like corporate re-naming, I made the somewhat logical assumption that he doesn’t like corporate names in general.
pdb - May 1, 2009
I don't mind corporate naming.
I don’t love it, but it’s not a huge deal to me. I absolutely hate re-naming. Drives me bonkers.
Aaron Campeau - May 1, 2009
I used to hate it until it became inevitable
and now I can’t be arsed to care. Money infects everything.
pdb - May 1, 2009
Exactly I can't be arsed to care to refer to it by whatever name they're calling it at this moment.
JI - May 1, 2009
I find that a bit strawman-y for my tastes.
I think that’s a big leap of an assumption.
Matthew - May 1, 2009
Which is why I posed it as a question originally
it’s an assumption that I was attempting to clarify.
pdb - May 1, 2009
Don't be silly
1) It never held that name
2) it’s Mariner Stadium
JI - May 1, 2009
The House that Griffey Built
Jed MC - May 1, 2009
If Aardsma actually threw a knuckleball he would be my favorite player ever.
Aaron Campeau - April 30, 2009
His fastball is in many ways like a knuckler
Bearskin Rugburn - April 30, 2009
In that you never know where it might end up
JonBBT - May 1, 2009
I know you're lying.
You have a M’s reliever throwing something but fastballs? Preposterous.
Faux - April 30, 2009
That's some serious overall heat as well.
EnglishMariner - April 30, 2009
Wow, I'm never trusting anyone or anything associated with Fangraphs again.
JI - April 30, 2009
So can someone translate this for me?
sorry
PattyB - April 30, 2009
I may be mistaken, but the KN% stands for percentage of knuckle balls thrown.
Jed MC - April 30, 2009
I'm sure this will be fixed
Looking at the database, it just looks like whoever scored that game put KN in there instead of XX (which is the unknown pitch type). I’m sure this will get fixed in the next day or two. Usually it takes 1-2 days after for the pitch data to be properly recorded anyway.
